Auto Windows Safety Feature

Do the auto windows have a safety stop to prevent fingers from being cut off???
I would like to know this before I attempt putting my finger in the way!

azian_advanced 03-28-2014 07:22 PM

Why exactly do you want to close the window on your finger?

I don't think it's strong enough to cut off your finger but it might squeeze pretty hard... I'm not gonna try it though -_-

I would almost be willing to bet money that it does have a safety reverse, since most newer cars with auto-up switches do. However, I say almost because this is sometimes a weird car.

Stick something in there and find out. It doesn't have to be your finger, but I would use something soft enough that it won't damage the window, like a jacket sleeve or towel folded over to make it thick enough to be sure the reverse is working. But don't blame me if you F up your window.

it's just feels like a hard pinch as the rubber weather stripping has plenty of give -wife found this out when we saw the 10 Series at the car show last week.

I know for a fact that the auto up when you open/close the door does not have this feature... since I actually was dumb enough to try it with my finger.

unsurety 03-29-2014 01:57 PM

It won't cut off your finger... however if this were an older Mercedes with a hydraulic window motor, it might come close!

So basically they kept it oldschool without a proper 2014 safety feature...

LOL. I admit I was tempted to stick my finger in the way when I first saw the window do that.

But that doesn't mean the safety feature isn't there when you activate the auto-up button. I think we need you to go try it again using the button.

The door glass has a auto stop safety feature you can use a ink pen to test it quote Scion Corporate.

Could always source the owners manual

This would have to be true otherwise Toyota would be liable in this day and age.
