@Stuart Rhodes - please PM your car/mod information. I may have incorrectly placed you in Stock Class so please PM your info so I can put in the correct class. -thanks

It was a pleasure meeting Wilson and company on Saturday! Sorry I couldn't complete the weekend. Also met up with Larry and much appreciated for your help and companionship in the afternoon! Garful and friends, who I parked with, were invaluable help and company.

Sadly, my car experienced an unexpected large oil spray from the Vortech and had to end my Saturday/weekend early. Limping the car home on H5 was not fun and the subsequent days/weeks following were just as painful - long story short, the Vortech will be going thru an upgrade. The V2 upgrade is more track-worthy and should tolerate the abuse of the track. That said, it looks like I may not make the June 28/29 86Cup events at Thill. This downtime will also allow me to complete more necessary changes to the FR-S.

I've been receiving a lot of inquiries and sign-ups for June 28/29 @thill. It looks like it's going to be a great turnout!

TRANSPONDER RENTAL: rent the transponder at the same time you check in/register. There are two prices for transponder rental: 1) is $15 to get a simple printout of your best-time-only at the end of the day and 2) is $25 to get a detailed printout of ALL of your times (every time you went on track) at the end of the day. If you are attending both days, tell NCRC that you want the same transponder # for both days. You return the transponder after each track day. NCRC will only forward me all of the 86Cup participants' best-times.

You are welcome to rent the transponders from NCRC for personal use. Same prices applies. If it's for personal use, let NCRC know that you are not signed up for any classes/races (I believe they have up to 3 or 4 classes that categorize times, incl 86Cup participants).

You can follow us here with pictures and videos from this weekend (starts on page 12). Thanks NorCal for the great shots and videos, technicals, and commentaries.

Next event will be on August 2 and 3 at Thunderhill again and people have been filling in the spots. Rumor has it that the Aug 2 and 3 events will have new entries who have just earned their wings to join us in 86Cup. Can't wait.

MyRx 03-26-2014 03:33 PM

Results from our 6th and 7th events held on Aug 2 and 3 at the famous Thunderhill Raceway! Thanks to NCRC for hosting us. Special thanks to CSG, LPI Racing, and Mann Engineering for their support.

Half way thru our season and we welcome the twin-86s of @mkivsoopra and @sw20kosh. There's more than meets the eye with these 2 owners/twin 86s. @Rehabjeff blistering 2:08 and 2:10 lap times proves that you don't need anything but practice practice practice. What does that do for the rest of us? Uh hmm yeah... we need practice practice practice. Keep us on our toes, Jeff!! Next NorCal 86Cup events, Sept 27 and 28 (Sat/Sun) will be at Buttonwillow. And I think we will have our first female driver joining us :)

Read up about the the Aug 2/3 tips, tricks, and comments on http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...=57243&page=20. Start page 20, post #440.

Results from our 8th and 9th events held on Sept 27 and 28 at the repaved Buttonwillow Raceway! Thanks to NCRC for hosting us. Special thanks again to CSG, LPI Racing, and Mann Engineering for their support!

Coverage starts here:
Thanks to everyone that attended the fun-filled, educational weekend! As you know, we had a special guest over this weekend. CSG Mike was on hand to show NorCal attendees this deceptive track. With all the offs over the weekend, we are lucky that our boys and girls came home unscathed.

Thanks for sharing all the videos and pictures for anybody that missed it (including me). Mike breaks down Buttonwillow turn by turn, @mkivsoopra shows boost to a NorCal friend @garfull, our girls become victims of some outrageous driving skills by Mike and @sw20kosh. @WoOosOn gets chased down by a boosted sw20kosh but keeps relatively close lap times with him. These are just a few highlights from the weekend :). Thanks everyone!!

Subscribed! You can't even tell I have fender/bumper damage from the picture :)

icemang17 03-26-2014 11:31 PM

Man that was FUN.....I will be at all the Thunderhill events for sure..."hopefully" racing my non-FT86....but I will try to carry the torch for the insane stock class (as in everything)...didn't even take the spare tire or tools out....and the best laps were with an almost full tank???

I do want another chance in Jessie's supercharged beast....I was no where near the limit in that car....much more speed to be found!!!

There is a man testing out the CSG Spec prototype right now. TEIN wanted another local person to provide their feedback in order to proceed onto the next step. :)

AP Sprint kit is whenever you're ready. I believe there is 1x 999 front pad for the AP kit on the shelf left.

Much changes from the set back in Jan with Mike? Even more curious now.

I want to see where I stand in the Street class! (Probably dead last)

Post 2 updated with results from the April 12/13 events at Buttonwillow.

juliog 06-25-2014 02:29 AM

Woot, fastest personal time at Buttonwillow! ;)

I think I'm the only one to have participated on the SoCal and NorCal 86 cups? I'll try to make it to Buttonwillow again in September, and maybe Laguna Seca in December..

WillRacer1jz 06-25-2014 02:38 AM

I'm going to try to do Laguna Seca in Dec. too.

mav1178 06-25-2014 12:16 PM

I'm already signed up for Laguna Seca in December :)

MyRx 06-25-2014 04:16 PM

Bump.

Anyone else planning to attend the 86Cup this weekend (Sat/Sun) at thill with NCRC but have not filled out the papers, PM me your car's mod list so I can categorize you correctly. I may be able to get the papers to someone that will be attending (fill it out there, give it back to him) but PM me your mods incase we forget to ask.

Remember, if you were in one class before but your recent mods moved you into a different class, I'll need an undated mod list to categorize you again.

Good luck to all of the attendants! 86Cup or not! 86 owner or not! Keep cool too btw.

You are, so far. Buttonwillow, per NCRC, is as SoCal as NorCalians can get to too haha. SoCal residents are welcome to attend and if you want to mix it in with the SoCal 86Cup, we can talk.

I did inform Mike K we would be at BW and he did offer to drive up. That's about all I know familiar with the car from SoCal but I'm all ears to anyone familiar with the car and BW (or any SoCal track). When the car and I are there of course haha.

MyRx 07-18-2014 05:40 AM

Updated post #3 with June 28 and 29 events at Thunderhill Raceway. We had 4 drivers stay thru the weekend to drive Thunderhill's 2 configurations, bypass and cyclone. August 2 and 3 is fast approaching where it's another weekend filled with Thunderhill air.

Worth mentioning, some even observed the new 2-mile additional track that Thunderhill had just completed. A week or two after, some NorCals had the pleasure to actually drive it. 5-mile track wow!

Until said otherwise, NCRC and NorCal's 86Cup has NO PLAN to run the 5-mile track nor add the new 2-mile track on 86Cup's current schedule.

MyRx 07-18-2014 03:49 PM

Need to make a correction on the last results chart: rehabJeff is in Street Class, not mod class.

MyRx 08-03-2014 04:30 PM

NorCal 86Cup events #6 & 7 at Thill is in progress this weekend. From what I've seen so far, there are new fast times. And one new participant is blazing a new trail for his FI'ed 86. Almost can't wait for today to conclude to see the end results from this weekend...in the meantime, drive safe and enjoy.

MyRx 08-12-2014 04:53 PM

Bump. Post #4 updated with Aug 2 and 3 results. With new participants and super-fast lap times, only the rest of the season can tell if more modified cars can take Thill's fastest 86 time. Let's stay tuned...

WillRacer1jz 09-28-2014 02:55 PM

I just registered for the final round on the 27th of December at Laguna Seca!!! SoCal invades NorCal ;-) can't wait for December to come.

MyRx 10-09-2014 05:20 PM

Post #5 updated with the Sept 27/28 events at BW.

Thanks to CSG Mike for making the trek and showing useful methods to the NorCal group. Videos and pictures are up haha

MyRx 10-31-2014 12:14 PM

Results from our 10th and 11th events held on Thunderhill Raceway this past weekend, Oct 25/26! Thanks to NCRC for hosting us. Special thanks again to CSG, LPI Racing, and Mann Engineering for their support!

* Mann Engineering is doing another dyno/tune day with Delicious Tuning on Dec 5/6 in Santa Clara! Slots are still available. Contact Mann Engineering if you want some tuning.

** @CSG Mike treks to Thill this past weekend to provide support to the NorCal crew and to show what little experience he has on Thill...blasts a blistering 2:10 on his own after a weekend of showing patrons how to get it done.

http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/...pscf971a29.png

Coverage and pictures starts here: post #903.
+ inked red times are the best times at the track and configuration respectively.
+ Saturday's average lap times of @AyJay (2:18.5 @ 30 laps) and @RehabJeff86 (2:18.1 @ 33 laps) are a worthy mention behind @WoOosOn 2:15.6 @ 37 laps on the Cyclone.
+ Congrats to @WoOosOn and @sw20kosh for testing and advancing to the Open class!
+ 9 participants on Saturday and 10 participants on Sunday, this is the biggest weekend we've had! A few handful of Solo drivers practicing as well, waiting patiently to join us :)
+ Saturday dinner at Casa Ramos that @sw20kosh started with friends was the place to be at to share thoughts, experiences, perspective mods, and to witness a SF Giants win.

Can't have a track day this huge without a couple hiccups:
- 2 coilpacks and 1 electrical short had quick resolutions from Mike and crew, NOT rendering those cars/drivers out for the weekend. As a matter of fact, they continued to set personnel best.
- we had our offs but we all recovered quickly and finished the session and completed the weekend. Mike had the worst, IMO, unbeaded a wheel near the end of a session. Rolled into the tire station, removed - remounted in no time at all.
- Truck driver/vendor for the following day's venue were impolite in asking us to vacate the area they wanted.

Summary of the weekend and pictures are posted on 86drive.com site: http://86drive.com/2014/10/28/86cup-...-10-11-wrapup/

OEM Shocks officially blown after 27 track days LMFAO!! CSG to the rescue of lending me their back up OEM shocks with Swift R Springs and RaceSeng top hat in preparation for the last 86 Cup Event of 2014 @ MRLS!!! Will definitely post detail report on this set up - its is supposed to be the best set up after CSG Spec Tein SRC on a budget.

Make sure to check your OEM shocks if you have done more than 7-8 track days .... I waited way too long lol I can hand compress all 4 shocks..... cray cray!
