Rear window opening

1 Attachment(s)
So before I purchased this FRS I had my rx8. What I loved about it was how the hear windows opened up and I was able to rear the lovely sound of wind and my exhaust without having wind blowing in my face with the front window down.

Couldn't find any thread topics on this also couldn't find any good pictures

But what do you guys think about it going on our cars :)

That's the only picture I had with the rear windows opened, and by the way that's my fiancé. Lol

Second photo some reason wouldn't let me upload more then one, if you zoom in the rear window you can see it opened. All I had to do was push up to open it and push the window out.

Ok... So what's the point of your thread, do you have a question?

Yeah what I'm trying to say is you guys think it's possible to do some modification to make it work on our cars?

Sorry you feel that way I changed the picture so you can sleep better at night. Don't have any intentions towards that.

Yes.

ZOMFGAARON 03-26-2014 02:31 AM

Check this out should work.

But realistically I doubt it'll be possible unless you have really deep pockets

ZionsWrath 03-26-2014 02:32 AM

I only see 2 pics of a triangle

Lol google literally has no images of it opened. I zoomed in on one of my photos, honestly not trying to show off my old car I'm just curious and really interested

XanRules 03-26-2014 03:21 AM

theoretically it wouldn't be that difficult, but you'd definitely need to take it to a reputable customization place as it's beyond the skill level of your average shade tree mechanic.

SlinkyAvalanche 03-26-2014 10:57 AM

my e36 had windows like that and i was thinking the same thing. but... it would be ALOT of work for little result. Not sure how it is in the RX8 but my friend converted his rear windows from manual to a switch

OICU812 03-26-2014 11:50 AM

Honestly its just one more seal to go bad, one more thing to make noise. While I as well have had vehicles with such windows they eventually were just a pain in the ass and not worth it IMO of course...;)

sklimo 03-26-2014 12:01 PM

If you got deep enough pockets ANYTHING is possible

BoxRZ_86 03-26-2014 12:21 PM

also the RX8 had a framed door. the FRS/BRZ is frameless and that seal butts up between both windows. you would probably have difficulty getting that to seal properly once you start trying to get that window to move.

actually if you were to replace that back triangle window with a whole new fixed piece that had a smaller glass piece in it that was hinged and everything that would probably work. cause then the seal up again the door windows would be in a fixed place and wouldn't interfere.

LuxuryVapes 03-26-2014 03:20 PM

Thanks for all your opinions guys, after thinking last night ima gonna do it lol the shop that's installing my rocketbunny is going to do that little rear window mod for me also

SlinkyAvalanche 03-26-2014 04:16 PM

post pics when ur done. then pics again when after it rains

Lverasky 03-26-2014 07:20 PM

this is BRZ/FR-S/GT86..not rx8.

2SeeKU 03-26-2014 07:39 PM

OP, l miss this from the RX8 too. I wish they were automatic however, as it was a PITA to operate them manually.

Rayme 03-26-2014 07:47 PM

How about putting a T-fitting in the sound tube and routing it all the way near the exhaust?

No?

Ok...:(

Ext cab Tacoma's have those type windows I loved them. Never had any leaking problems with them except when I forgot to close them.

Chen 03-27-2014 02:48 AM

Can't you get a motorized one? My dad's toyota sienna has them in the rear. But it looks like when ever he used it. It flex the glass.

If your looking just to hear the sound of your exhaust. You could always ghetto rig it. Fold down the back seats. there's no liner in the trunk. Should be able to hear everything.

camelflage 10-15-2014 04:39 PM
