Ordering a FR-S
 

I went to the dealer to purchase a 2014 Ultramarine that was suppose to be arriving there Friday. I guess there was some mis-communication and they had already sold it. They checked the inventory and said that there were no Ultramarine's, and if I wanted one I'd have to order it. They could not tell me how long it would take for me to get my car until later this week. Has anyone here experienced a similar issue? How long do you think it will take for an "ordered" FRS to arrive?

I suppose it would depend on if they are going to order it built ...... or source it from another dealer. Did they say?

The only thing that they said was that there "partner dealers" did not have any ultramarines in stock... I'm not putting anything special on the FRS... just basic, no spoiler, nothing.

hmmm......maybe someone will come along soon that can be of some help.

Have you checked some of the on-line sites in your area for inventory?

I ordered my Monogram (Firestorm AT with fogs and mud guards, with a $500 deposit) on January 25th. I was told it usually takes 6-8 weeks. I was told at one point that it arrived at the port in Oregon on March 3rd and "processed" on March 7th. I was told "processed" meant it was ready to go onto the truck to be delivered to the dealership, and that it would be 7-10 days from that point. On March 18th (11 days after processed) I was told that "Toyota updated the delivery dates to be between March 22 and March 26". So, unless they once again change the delivery dates, it *should* arrive at the dealership today or tomorrow, which probably means I would be able to get it by the end of this week. This Saturday will be 9 weeks since I ordered.

On the other hand, I have seen posts on here where other people have ordered and gotten their cars in fewer weeks than my situation.

Hello! I ordered my Hot Lava from the port, as the dealer didn't have any in stock, and didn't have any on their way already. My car is no sort of special edition, and I believe it took around 4-6 weeks to get to Minnesota from the port in Washington, where the order was placed. It was delayed by several days because of snow in the Rockies.

I ordered mine in late January. Received it in late March. Whiteout w/ TRD exhaust (installed near port supposedly).

Do you live in the boonies? There are about 10 Toyota dealers within driving distance of me, all seem to have 5-10 FR-S just sitting on the lot at all times. I'm sure it can't be that hard to find what you want just sitting around.

I just looked in the entire state of Florida, and there is 1 ultramarine that is already sold.... Am I missing something here? Is it that much of a popular color or they just don't import that many Ultramarine's?

UGH!!! :mad0259: I was just told that the delivery dates now are March 31 - April 4! That puts it between 9 and 10 weeks since ordering. They sent me these details:

Toyota of South Florida has multiple Ultramarine FR-Ss listed on Autotrader. All of the pics are for a 10 series though. Might be worth a call.

The advantage to ordering a car before it is delivered to port:
1) You don't have to worry about unwanted port installed options.
2) You get a car in the desired color, with the desired transmission, and with only the options you want.
3) You don't have to worry about the possibility that the car was abused during test drives.
4) You don't have to buy a car that has already been improperly washed by the dealership.

By the way, it took 5 weeks from the time I ordered my Monogram until it arrived at the dealership.
Hold out for the Ultramarine; I get compliments all the time on the color of my car.

What about a BRZ? They didn't make the 2014 in Galaxy Blue Silica (same color as Ultramarine), but there might still be a '13 sitting on a lot somewhere. You might even get a deal on it, being last year's model. I don't think there were any changes in '14.

It's a rare color.

Thank you guys for all the help. I just ordered a 2014 Ultramarine with the borla exhaust. ETA is mid April. Now I just have to find some really small car seats to fit in the back so my wife doesn't kill me.
