mokinbird87`s BRZ
I traded in my old bugeye (close to 200k miles original engine, tranny, etc) as I found myself driving my brother`s miata more often :) As I come from the old school subaru world, I plan on bringing out more of the old school subaru out of this car. I`m also fabricating a few things on my own. stay tuned!
custom side vents http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59345 custom rear diffuser http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59202 performance figures: weight: stock power: stock bought the BRZ limited in that famous world rally blue :) I told myself I wouldnt modify this one... I already debadged the car in about a week (march, 2013) https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...61325969_n.jpg waited till the 1000 mark... https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...52774494_n.jpg JDM goodies https://sphotos-b-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/h...16805091_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...89825221_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...11005316_n.jpg and the part I enjoy the most! https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...40368779_n.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...57049289_n.jpg going for that old school subaru look :) (9/20/13) https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...04396572_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...78526308_n.jpg sti titanium shift knob. love the way it looks, didnt care for way it feels... even the stock one is heavier, and it is too small for my hand. (2/20/14) https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...21659068_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...83786331_n.jpg and then finally my wheels came in! that was about 6 months of waiting... these wheels pay an homage to the tarmac rally days that subaru is known for (2/28/14) https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...70399439_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...02870477_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...65390318_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...58476846_n.jpg new shift knob to replace the sti one. (3/24/14) I like this one because it`s heavier, it sits lower and it`s a good diameter. I also like how it matches my interior trim. https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...34614755_n.jpg https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...38694549_n.jpg ordered the replica front lip. these are gonna need a little wet sanding and some TLC... guess you get what you pay for, but I didnt wanna pay a lot for something I am going to destroy. (3/24/14) https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...90326970_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...34472525_n.jpg JDM gurney flap also came in today :) this is the single most expensive piece of rubber I have ever paid for lol (3/24/14) https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...14926279_n.jpg (3/25/14) installed the replica lip and the jdm gurney flap. I needed to wet-sand and buff the hell out of the front lip as its surface quality was... well, what I paid for really. before: https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...77183615_n.jpg after: https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...15793880_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...38959998_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...83519850_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...56181462_n.jpg https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...51122916_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...13771637_n.jpg gurney flap. took me a few tries to get it aligned right. the sti decal.. well i only had one go at it :) https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...70307565_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...77173244_n.jpg https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...21331253_n.jpg |

I took the car upto 230KPH and it stopped much quicker than my stock BRZ. at 180KPH the hood starts to rattle. speeds over 200KPH, the hood wants to fly off the car. |
Beautiful BRZ. Also, cool pics from the trip!

there was a nasty leak because i didnt tighten the header enough on one side :( and a small one where the overpipe meets the front pipe. i replaced the OEM front pipe with a BERK catted one as I really missed the throttle response on the tomei front pipe. The catless Tomei front pipe is still superior when it comes to throttle response, but I like the sound of the BERK one a lot more, and it still performs better than the OEM one. special shout out to @CSG David for helping me fix the leak and install the BERK pipe on their lift! https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...19f845e0cad76b https://scontent-b-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/...5d&oe=54CA6B0F https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...31917f256f9d74 and then I decided to throw on the Greddy intake (thank you @ImperiousRex) a little deviation from my original plan (as I wanted to do a TRD intake + HKS snorkel), but I dont think I can go back anymore... the sound of this unit is really addictive, and it really improves the power band, especially after 4000 RPMs. overall, the mid range torque feels much better. It compliments the UEL header very well. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...6b00c9a156ca70 this thing was a PITA to take out, only to learn that Greddy kit is supposed to work with the stock snorkel.. oops... it looks restrictive anyways :) https://scontent-a-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/...83&oe=54B2EB13 cant wait for dyno tuning at Church automotive, and to see if the parts I purchased made any difference and where exactly it made the difference. |

I`ve begun to really focus on the way the car feels, so even before I start doing the more fancy suspension stuff, i`ve identified what bothers me and how i can improve those things. I`ve noticed that the rear end moves around a bit on bumpy pavement and the front end should be sharper. here are my recent purchases to help with the issues.
Rigid Collars from Spoon (made by Prova) https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...92&oe=55FAC275 https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...0f&oe=5605C762 https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...54600909_o.jpg Rear subframe bushings from Revo-tune https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...ad&oe=55E87AB8 https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...72&oe=55EA06A5 https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...05590097_o.jpg |
Shorai battery kit by KC Machines has been installed with the quick kill switch to further lighten the front end.
