Bluetooth Problems

So I have my galaxy connected to my 2014 brz limited and I'm having some issues. The bluetooth keeps cutting in and out when I'm playing music and I'm not sure what's wrong. Could it be the car trying to connect to other devices that have bluetooth on or what? I couldn't find any other topics on this so not sure if this has already been discussed. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

I have the same issue with my HTC Evo 4g LTE that was never resolved. What galaxy do you have?

Its been discussed quite a bit here with no definitive answer as to why. It definitely seems to be a mix of issues between phone firmware and the head unit. But try this, when your phone asks to sync messages cancel that. Everytime I let mine sync messages it did the disconnect re connect thing over and over. Also try changing the settings in the head unit to connect from phone instead of head unit that helped some people. I have an s3 and haven't had any issues since I stopped sync messages.

HTC DNA same issue, firmware update fixed it for about a week. Tried not syncing contacts and that helped more than the firmware update, but it eventually came back again. So, idk either. you can try those 2 things and see if helps.

I have an s3. I stopped syncing messages and haven't had issues since as well. Phone worked fine for some time with messages on when I first got the car then randomly one day started cutting in and out constantly.

I had updated to 4.3.3 on my HTC and it fixed it until the next time it connected to the car then it happened again haha.

Are you using a 3rd party music app? I found that it works more reliably when using the stock one

Are you running a custom OS on your phone? I know a couple months back Samsung was still holding out on giving up the bt driver and that lead to some issues if you had flashed something like cyanogenmod.

I'm in a 2013 FRS and run the basic hu without and quality or connection problems from my own s4

I ended up getting an iPhone and problem solved. Also connects to my OBD2 unit without a problem as well.

Same issue with my HTC DNA, just delete the sync data on the headunit and phone and repeat every time the headunit gives attitude.

The price we pay for andriod phones...Apple must be oiling peoples palms to make sure shit works correctly all the time with everything.

What happens to me and my S3 with the BRZ headunit is that on the auto connect when i start the car, it will randomly disconnect after a minute or so, then reconnect later when it feels like it. I tried waiting until the car is on, then turning on bluetooth on my phone, that seemed to fix it. It only started happening after i updated to the latest version of android.

When I first got my phone (Note 3) it worked for like a week. Now it connects, disconnects, connects, disconnects, connects, disconnects, connects, disconnects, ........ :mad0259:

possible solution?

hi guys,

before i got my brz, i came from 13' STi which had the same navi and it kept cutting my bluetooth and disconnecting randomly, not connecting right away...there was a thread i read that had solution which said go into ur bluetooth settings, select ur fone on the list and click "details" and there shuld b "setting" to go into. Then choose connect "from device", not "from headunit" or something like that. Ever since then, i had no problems with bluetooth. Try that!

When I had the stock HU, I solved the problem by NOT turning on BT until after the HU had started up. That fixed the problem.

The total fix came when I got a new aftermarket HU. The issue is with the bt software in the HU or the bt hardware in the HU, not in the phone.

I thought that too until my friend connected his iphone, no problems.

That doesn't indicate a problem with the phone, though. When your phone connects up fine to plenty of other BT devices, but has issues with the stock HU in your car, that's more indicative of the hardware/software not really being all that great on the HU. THey made sure it'd work with iPhones and then didn't care if it worked all that well with android, as evidenced by folks needing to go in and change the "connect from" settings.

Despite them no longer being the majority smartphone (most folks use an android phone, among those who use smartphones), most manufacturers who just want to be lazy make things iphone compatible and then only kinda-sorta throw a bone to android.

It's going to bite them in the ass sooner or later if they don't learn now.

Oddly enough, my HU works almost flawlessly with my S3 but gets glitchy with my gf's iPhone 5. It's almost like it mates to the first OS it ever connects with and then any deviance beyond that causes it to act up (I know that's probably not the case, but it looks like it).

If anything, I think it has the most problems switching between phones after startup. Seems to work fine with the first device it auto-connects to

That seems to be the case with most HU's. They're designed to be connected to one phone most of the time. If phones change, it's assumed that it's b/c the other isn't present. I'd say, connect the iPhone via USB and android via BT and only use the Android for BT, don't turn on bt on the iPhone.

Just received the 4.3 update to my S3, and now I've lost the ability for Artist/Track name display on the FRS standard hu...

Mildly irritating. I've deleted pairings on both the car and the phone, re-paired, same result! Arrgh.
