So, what's the stock offset?

Has it been revealed? I did a search, I promise... :)

I want my aftermarkets to be as light as possible and to adhere as much as possible to the OEM geometry.

Scooby 05-12-2012 10:31 AM

I have a spec sheet from Toyota Finland that says 7x17 ET48.

It is the same wheel as a 2012 Impreza limited with a 17's...only the BRZ's are painted and have a machined face....unless its a drastic change from the normal Subaru Fitment..It should be 53..
someone REALLY needs to take a wheel off and shoot a pic of the backside of the spokes... the answer will become apparent..:)

civicdrivr 05-12-2012 10:29 PM

If we dont have an exact number by Monday or Tuesday, Ill gladly pull off one of the wheels to check.

Scooby South 05-12-2012 10:42 PM

per these sources, and mentioned throughout the forum, its 17x7 +48

And those wheel look similar but, I guess Im having a hard time saying they are the same, besides the machined/silver, black color scheme.

Im not trying to sound rude or anything, so if I come off that way, I apologize.

dsgerbc 05-13-2012 12:30 AM

'12 Impreza wheels are also +48.

Scooby South 05-13-2012 12:30 AM

no....your good...:)...its stamped on the backside of the wheel......If I am wrong..then I truly apologize....I am basing my info off the Impreza wheel..

:)

Don't feel bad. I was convinced they we're the same wheels a couple months ago, too, until one day I took a closer look. But, it would make sense to is the same wheel casting for cost savings reasons. So, I'm baffled why they would make a different wheel that looks so similar and be the same dimensions.

Understand...Subaru's are like Tinker Toys...they do everything for a reason..on my 99 Wagon I have parts ranging from 1999-2009 on it.. meaning that they can use as many parts as possible for different vehicles..for instance... if you ever want to upgrade the brakes on the BRZ...you can use STi components (calipers, 04STi rotors, and 08 plus stainless lines)...Another instance would be the rear sway bar...Stk on the BRZ is 14mm...if you wanted a minor upgrade...a o8 plus WRX uses a 16mm...and the STi uses a 19mm...they are all the same bends..:)

Thanks for Clarifying ..Joe definitely is the man..I use his site for alot of things...:)

The brakes have been discussed elsewhere and due to the reverse mounting of the BRZ's brakes, and the differential piston bores and bleed location of the Brembos, the consensus seems that it is a no-go.

I understand....but they 'could' work if someone wanted them to.. meaning they bolt on...might not be optimum....:)..I merely was using it as example..:)

Bill

Scooby South 05-13-2012 05:10 PM

ok better example...06/07 WRX 4 pots..they have the same bore pistons..:)...Sorry...getting off subject...I apologize..

WhiteGDB 05-14-2012 07:04 AM

Still reverse mounting though.

But not differential bored, so you just switch L->R and R->L.

PERRIN_Jeff 05-14-2012 12:35 PM

For 100% the official answer is....

17 x7" with a 48 offset. I just pulled one off the car and checked.

Ditto on what Bill said. Measurements would rock. Hell if you test fit then that's even better!

Chenslee 05-14-2012 04:52 PM

Dammit! I thought the stockers were 17x7.5.

Good. Now we know.

PERRIN_Jeff 05-14-2012 11:17 PM

That looks like Subaru Manuals!! Hook me up!!

Tomorrow is the day I plan to start putting together our "BRZ EXPOSED" post/thread. So I will for sure get some good measurements for the wheel wells. I can tell you this, that there is about 3" more space in the rear for a bigger tire compared to the front. I think the only thing is, what kind of tire selection are customers going to end up with. Staggered or same size on all corners? My initial thought is same all the way around, but who knows. We need to see what happens when we start adding power.

I'd guess they are basically the same books/PDFs?

Jeff Lange 05-15-2012 02:26 AM

They're probably very similar, yes, though I am not familiar enough with Subaru's manuals to say for sure. The Scion follows normal Toyota/Scion/Lexus manual formatting.

Hey guys! Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I figured this might be a good place to add it. I know the stock offset is 48 (from this thread, thanks!), but I saw a thread that was running some 18" Drag rims that were 35 offset on the front and 38 offset on the back. Do those actually fit on the stock setup, or did they do some sort of change to the suspension? Thanks!

Spuds 12-17-2018 11:47 PM

. A most impressive necro. I think this one might be a record.
