[GTA] - May 10th Spring Meet

I would like to organize a meet within the next few weeks as an opportunity for people who are looking to do some upgrades to their car to look at other peoples cars that have some upgrades.

There seems to be some interest for an event like this to happen in this thread that was mostly about exhausts.

Exhausts seem to be a big one that people want to hear in person but I think a bit of everything would be nice.

If you have done any upgrades to your car (exhaust, wheels, lights, intake, forced induction, ect) please come out.

If you want to upgrade your car this summer but are unsure about what you want, come out to see what others have done.

Finalized Date and Location

Date: Saturday May 10th
Time: 8pm
Location Updated: It will be hosted at Kennedy Commons. Across the road (William Kitchen Rd) from Rona right beside the Mr Greek.

It is also nice because it is right off the highway and for anyone wanting to give rides to show off their car a little more, here is a nice route to take: https://goo.gl/maps/aB6t1

After the input I have got so far and doing my best to guess the weather I have picked this date. This will ensure weather is above 10 degrees, summer tires are on, and gives people a chance to get some items on their car once the warm weather hits.

I hope a lot of people can make this event. This will probably be one of the first FSR/BRZ meets of the summer. Hope to see everyone there.

Hopefully we can get JRP to host another one :D

Burrcold 03-15-2014 06:47 PM

I think you might get a better outing if it's mid to late April. Most people won't have their summer wheels on, or may still have the car in storage.

Kazuya 03-15-2014 08:23 PM

Looking forward to this MEAT.

drewbot 03-15-2014 08:24 PM

Would like to attend only on the weekends. April 26-27 won't work for me though

This....

wparsons 03-16-2014 07:45 PM

Count me in, exhaust, stainless lines, MC brace and tinted tails are on the car. Summer wheels/tires, upgraded pads are in the basement until it's consistently +10 out.

New springs are still on their way, might be installed depending on when this happens.

Off topic, but are you the same "parsons" that I see on MMAWeekly "parsons99"? If so, I like reading your posts there as much as the ones here! :) if it's not you, then you have a screen name sorta-twin from the same area lol

wparsons 03-16-2014 07:59 PM

Not me, must be a doppelganger.

Burrcold 03-16-2014 08:08 PM

So strange!

Kazuya 03-16-2014 08:27 PM

So OP OR TARO. WHERES THE MEET DATE BRO. WE NEED SOME CONCRETE INFO.

Apologize for caps, the excitement of a meet after a 4 month hibernation is killing me.

ToyoburuBRZ 03-16-2014 09:25 PM

After the replies so far. It's looking like end of April or beginning of May will be when this event is held. This way everyone had their car out of storage and winter wheels on.

Now I feel the weekend will be best as long as everyone knows. So my thought is to do it on May 3rd.

And finally no one has mentioned anything about another location so let's keep it at Kennedy commons.

I will update the original post with this info as tentative for now. Hopefully that works for everyone!

Sorry, just saw this. Will update link this topic to the meets thread and keep updated info there to get thr word out.

I'm definitely interested in this. Mine is stock and I'm quite unsure of what to do to it first. I'd love to get out and see others, and talk about what's good and whatnot.

If it's that weekend, I'm out. I'll be at Mosport all weekend for the OTA school.

If you push it into May and on a weekend, chances are you're going to lose people on any given weekend to some other sort of event.

Ok well I would like to try and accommodate for as many people as possible. Would Saturday April 26th work better?

Or maybe a weekday night?

Maybe I will make a poll tonight to help decide.

April 26th/27th is the PITL autoslalom school :D I'm volunteering there for at least part of the weekend.

Don't base it purely around me though, my schedule is ridiculous at times.

1Cor10:23 03-17-2014 01:00 PM

Subbing. Should be good for May date :) hopefully will have OFH and Perrin 3"CBE on at that point.

Definitely want to hear that! That's one of my options for exhaust systems.

Just wondering if anyone here put on their summers yet? Got a flat today (at the back tire), wondering if I should change one of the front tire to the back, and mount 2 summers at the front for 2 weeks or just switch out to summer tires completely.

wparsons 03-17-2014 01:47 PM

My summers won't be on until it is consistently +10C, but I have more extreme summer tires (Dunlop ZII) than most people.

Considering it's below -5 right now, I wouldn't put any summers on at all yet.

1Cor10:23 03-17-2014 02:10 PM

Bare minimum for safety, I wouldn't drive OEM tires below 3, however 7 is the commercially correct answer you usually get from shops.

Second weekend in May! I'll be at the OTA School as well on the 3/4th.

Jay2420 03-17-2014 03:16 PM

I'm down for a meet. You guys thinking daytime or evening? I say just post up a date and whoever shows, shows. Might be cool to even try a regular thing depending how the first ones goes Evenings usually work better for me but some Saturdays may also work depending on...work.

MXP cat back and front pipe, Toms reds, might have the clear sides installed by then..nothing crazy yet. Would have wheels by now but need a new set of pads for Hockey lol

I ran in the car with OEM tires between 0C and 6C. Every night on my run in drive I would check the outside temp gauge when I get to the 401 ramp that would determine how hard I can drive it while staying below 4000rpm.

I wouldn't drive it below freezing to be honest.

Taro 03-17-2014 04:39 PM

I updated the GTA thread with information on this.

They aren't that bad really. I had my winters (Michelin X-Ice2) swapped out Saturday afternoon and rolling on OEM Michelin Primacy since. It was well below -10 yesterday and this morning. Less grip for sure but definitely not dangerous.

Hope it doesn't rain on you, the stock tires were like hockey pucks for me at +3C in the rain, I'd hate to drive them below zero on wet pavement.

Myv 03-17-2014 05:50 PM

I think I'm just gonna put 2 of the summers on the front and move one winter to the back, these are Bridgestone Potenzas RE760 on 18" 57xtremes. Don't really have time until weekend to get a replacement winter tire from SimplyTires.

Yup I got rid of these tires after one wet day driving at 2C and the rear kicked out hard on a slow turn (VSC saved me even faster than I could react).

ToyoburuBRZ 03-17-2014 06:37 PM

I just updated the first post with a finalized date time and location. I tried my best to accommodate everyone. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
@Taro, could you please update the meet thread with this information. Thanks
