Quality backlite keyboard

I finally bought a backlite keyboard and at first loved it, but the keys have become stiff. I have to spell check absolutely everything. Some of my posts are downright embarrassing with the skipped letters.

Any leads at Amazon, New egg, Tiger, or Ebey? I want a medium sized keyboard, not he big old full sized?

thanks

I have used the Logitech illuminated for a few years now, no problems what so ever, love it

What kind of keys do you prefer? Mechanical, scissor, rubber dome? What weight if you're looking at mechanical. Do you want tactile feedback or not?

edit: Nevermind. I reread your post and figure you have no idea what I'm talking about. Here's my suggestion.

Rubber dome has a rubber membrane which has domes the keys sit on. When you press a key, it bottoms out and the button press is triggered. Over time they get mushy.

Scissors are rubber domes but low travel. Think laptop keyboards.

Mechanical are a mechanical switch that actuates before the key bottoms out. When you get used to them typing can be lighter and more accurate. They're also generally rated to about 50 million keystrokes.
Then you have a bunch of different types of switches.

My preference is MX Brown. Blues are loud and get annoying. Blacks are fine but the added force becomes noticeable if you have to type a lot, or have a long gaming session, and for overall use I prefer tactile feedback to the linear keys. I haven't owned Reds but have tried them. Similar to the MX Brown I have now but without the tactile feedback.

scissor all the way, i just switched back to a rubber dome from a laptop at work for ergonomic reasons and the extra height on all the buttons is messing me up.

Mechanical Keyboard from Logitech, Corsair, or Ducky.

Go blue...

Unless you live with someone else.

Buying a keyboard is like buying shoes, you must try it out before you buy it.

Logitech G19. Had it for a couple of years and LOVE IT.

I would take that but ability was taken in a bad car accident a long time ago.. The keys aren't sticky I think you are just cheap.

I appreciate he recommendations.

Just a joke, sorry if I offended anyone.

don't worry about offending me, I probably have the record for unintentional offending around here, plus it was over two decades ago. Car wrecks could be ugly back then.

I think I counted one only one recommendation and I bought a tatrix cable instead (the khey board recommended was $180). My keyboard is driving me nuts. It has to be the worst Keyboard ever made, even the way the keys are squared off sucks. I-rocks in case anyone wants to avoid it.

Anything backlit, small, and under $50 bucks I'm willing to try after buying that cable thatt's the budget. Until then I'm dragging out my old mechanical PS/2 keyboard.

Engine tuning is priority of course.

Interesting fact you can but a compact (small numberpad-fee) backlit usb key bad.
CM storm sells one thats has a num pad but is fairly small.

I'm going with this Cool Mast Raid Storm Chrrry brown mechanical switches. I guess I didn't release how few keyboards are mechanical this days.

As far as illumination. Either a clip on USB reading light or open her up and wire small LED's onside.

But I think most of the problem is cheap keys.

Thanks for your help.

You have a mechanical PS2 keyboard already? Get a flashlight on a tripod and no need to spend a ton of money :)

regal 03-17-2014 04:53 AM

@n2oinferno I went with this: http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/...t_detail&p=635

looks like a decent board. Thanks for your informative post about quality keys.
