anyone running a muffler delete pipe?
considering the muffler delete straight pipe as i've heard the sound isn't bad at all
anyone running one in Toronto + area? Would like to go for a ridealong. |
If you want to hear it You could remove your OEM muffler really fast just don't do too long of a drive as you can risk damage to the bumper. There was one member who did a track day without his and if i remember he melted part of the bumper half way through the day. Just trying to give you an easy way to test it out. :)

Do you want to do a full straight pipe from the header back or just axle back? I would give you a ride but I'm in SoCal.
|
just the catback, the foot-long metal pipe thingy

As long as there are no noise laws where you're located I'd say do it. You can get a single exit muffle delete done really cheap by a local muffle shop. Do it without tips just so you can get a feel for it and if you like it go back and do a dual exit or just buy a tip for your single. Shouldn't be more then $100

there are also wife laws, which don't like overly loud things. I know that some cars sound perfectly fine without mufflers (the Mopar Neon came stock without one), just a nice deep sound but some sound like farcans, which i want to avoid. |

Check your laws here's so info on the db range of a delete. Best I can do is post a video of mine unless you want to come to SoCal haha. I have a in cabin cold start video. |

I dont' want a laud exhaust, any exhaust that would come close or surpas any sound law at all would already be out of the question for my personal tastes i've driven in a loud car for 4 years and i've had my fill of badassetry this is stricly a performance item, for which i may oe willing to sacrafice a summer's worth of noise. |

Performance wise you don't see too big of a difference unless you're turbo or supercharged from what I've heard. I noticed a small improvement in throttle response but I also added a high flow air filter at the same time. Never dyno'd my car so I couldn't tell you if there's any real gains. Sorry for misunderstanding. |
There's always the Berg dual exit muffler delete if you want to preserve the appearance of your vehicle. I am sure you could find it on youtube.
|
Youtube clips are pretty much useless in determining how loud it actually is in person unless you have a known exhaust (ie stock) recorded at the exact same time as the other exhaust.

I have the Berk single exit pipe on order. I don't even have my car yet though :D
|
I run the Berk single exit on mine and I love the sound. On a cold start (1500-2000 rpm) it is pretty loud but once the rpm drop (750-800) you can barely hear it. It's loudest points are 2000 and 5000+. There is no cabin drone at 3000 rpm which is my usual highway cruising speed of 70.
I love the low end grumble this motor produces and this is a cheap way to help make the sound more distinguished. No rasp and no cabin drone is enough for me to postpone my full exhaust purchase and stick with this muffler delete for a bit. |

How much should I expect to pay to have this muffler delete thing done say at a dealer or muffler shop? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Having a shop make the pipe and install shouldn't be more than $100 but I suggest if you have the tools just install yourself. The longest part of the instal is removing the stock muffler and that only takes a couple minutes. I picked my Berk pipe up online for $80 and had it installed in 15 minutes. |

CenCali86 helped me put mine on this week. Longest part was getting the stupid stock hangers out. But I am super happy with the sound, it's the perfect amount of increased tone and throat. Only cost me about $115 new..

Damn that's pretty pricey for a delete with no tips. Where'd you get it |
I got it on eBay new but it's a berk pipe, the one with the tip is more, but I didn't want the tip, I actually thought about modifying it to be a 3" tip, but it's a temporary and quick fix to the sound while I figure out what I want to do.

Have anyone done an electric exhaust cutout?

I found this. I would like to eventually do something like this: [ame]http://youtu.be/Ch0gKSjQ2gU[/ame] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
My neighbour has the muffler delete. It's not super loud, quieter than all the Harleys and a few of the other modded cars in the neighbourhood, but from inside my house I still know when he's coming and going. Also he's not revving the hell out of it when driving up the street, so no idea how loud it is on the highway.
If you do ANY other exhaust mods it would probably be crazy loud though.. |
Yea no doubt, I want a setup like the silver one:
