If it is i highly suggest you take it easy until you find out the limits of a rwd car since they behave completely different than a AWD or FWD car. Reason i am saying this is i would hate to see tokyo drifter wannabes sky rocketing insurance prices, i highly recommend a drivers education program at a local race track so you can learn the limits of a rwd car before pushing it around corners. I think being such a well balanced and light car it should be a perfect learner rwd car :thumbup:.

I still remember the day when a local 17 yo kid traded his VW GTI for a shelby GT500 and after one week of owning the car he died as he was trying to drift the car at high speed he hit a curb and rolled over several times he was pronounced dead at the hospital. RIP

This will be my first personally owned RWD. I dont have near as much experience as some of the other members on here. I'll take this car pretty easily for a while, then begin to have more fun as i take more driving schools and play in more autox events. Im not ken block, and dont plan to be. As well as the fact that id rather not put all this money into this car, just to see it in a junkyard.

Technically no.

I owned a '66 Mustang for a very short time but regrettably had to sell it as the parts and labor involved were more than could be covered. My dad and I were sad to see it go, fortunately he's still got his '65 :thumbup:

But aside from that, no. I've not had the chance to own a RWD car.

I am looking forward to tracking the car - never had a chance (heck, never had a car worthy of tracking).
However, once it snows a little bit, I might be tempted to find a large, empty parking lot and just get a feel for how to recover from skids/slippage etc.

Thats the correct attitude man!! Learn to master the car so you can get the max out of it instead of ruining it. Ive had my share of rwd cars and even though i know how they behave im not taking the ESP off during track days until i learn the limits of the car and how it behaves when pushed to the very edge.

Props to you for your attitude and sincerity!!

Very good idea, great way to learn how to control an oversteer situation try to learn a bit about oversteer etc. :thumbup:

First RWD car for me too. I am really excited to see how it differs from all the FWD cars I have driven in the past, especially on all the twisty mountain roads near where I live. I currently have a base RSX, and I must say it is a blast on those roads, even though it doesn't have a lot of power (and even less torque).

This will be a great RWD car to learn and hone your driving skill in! Light, tossable, nimble and with a limited-slip differential. You could all learn a lot from driving this car! I recommend you do it in a legal environment such as an autocross, rallycross, drift or track day. At the very least in an empty parking lot far away from civilization (and pesky police).

This will be my 12th RWD car... if you don't include the 4 RWD parts cars I've bought, LOL

What's the diff between FWD and RWD in terms of daily driving's tirewear? Is tire rotation the same (rear to front, vice versa, and then criss cross 'em)?

From the DD RWD (S2000,350z,IS300,Supra so on) cars iv driven just (just normal drieving stop and go) i don't see much of a difference. But im not a expert at all.

But i live in the city no curvy roads at all!

Just make sure when it rains you are easy on the throttle on corners since the car will tend to oversteer as opposed to understeer like in a FWD car, correcting oversteer is very different in a rwd car as well in a FWD car you point it where you want to go and give it a little gas to control the oversteer where as in a rwd you have to countersteer and stay off the throttle.

Before you push it around a mountain road make sure you learn the cars behavior specially since this will be your first RWD car dont underestimate the power it will still slide its tail out a lot from all of the reviews i have seen.

Well normally you cant switch around tires in rwd's because they are staggered but in this car you can since it has the same size all around. Compared to a FWD car you will start to notice your rear tires start to disappear rather quickly once you start to have fun lol :D. Dont know if these tires are directional but if they are not i would cross them right rear to left front and left rear to right front. ;)

It's not my first RWD car and I'm quite confident with my ability to keep it slow and take it easy. I've spun out in the rain before and driven on ice and snow. I know fairly well when it's okay to push it and when it's better to play it safe.

Normally the tires aren't staggered from the factory just because it's RWD. That is usually only done on high power cars. They won't be staggered on this car. So long as you don't drive like a maniac they should wear pretty even considering the balance. FWD always wears the front tires out first.

u guys r getting like 150lb ft of torque. its not like a tiny amount of pressure on the gas pedal is gonna have u doing donuts in the middle of the street. the complete opposite actaully- its gonna take considerable effort to do a burnout or drift on dry pavement. fwd,rwd and awd cars and trucks can all wreck if u r doing something stupid in rain o snow

I have only owned RWD cars with the exception of my first, an 89 acura legend coupe...that car (specifically the A/T to M/T swap) convinced me I never wanted to own another vehicle where the engine was on top of the trans....from Whence forth I have only been tempted to break this rule for MR2's

I'm thinking this is about my 12th or so RWD car...none have been totaled or even damaged by me in a wreck.

My first RWD and my first MT! It's going to be a very interesting experience indeed. I'm definitely going to be incredibly nervous as I drive away from the dealer. Don't wanna stall it the first time it moves in my possession...

I've only owned Mustangs and Miata/MX-5's. None of my Mustangs were staggered. I suppose staggered setups are more common amongst this crowd and that's not a bad thing.

Prob is when people who watch too much Fast and the Furious get behind the wheel of a rwd car the first thing they want to do is tokyo drift and thats when the problems start.:suicide:

Neither the s13 or s14 came factory with staggered wheels.

The NA 300ZX didn't even have staggered wheels only the TT did.

Difference is mine pushed over 350whp so i needed the traction in the rear it would have been dumb on my part to go the same all around.

The engine is more than powerful enough to get a young guy into a dangerous situation. 200 is a lot of power for a new driver.

This will be my first RWD car but I do have a bit of go kart experience. Im hoping this car will be a good starter rwd car so i can move up to more powerful cars in the future and get the best out of them. I do have some rally experience and I can do a pretty good Ken Block impersonation in a snowy parking lot in my WRX, but I don't plan on doing any of that in the BRZ since I spend enough money on tires as it is.

if you are already using all of the available grip, it doesnt take much torque to do some damage
