1 Attachment(s)
Not sure anyone following Tada-san's Facebook, but today (or yesterday for Japan time) was his birthday.
Along with thanking everyone, he have teased us of updated 86 will becoming! Attachment 69536 I can tell you one thing for sure is, WE are part of this update. WE helped Tada-san and other engineer update the 86. How? All year around, not only Moto-san, but I've been contacting Tada-san to give feedback from 86/FR-S/BRZ owners for pros, cons & wishlist. He listen and taken some of advices. & please, if you're friend with Tada-san in facebook, please wish him happy birthday. He goes so much to bring 86 in the world and try to make car enthuse world exciting. |
Already 100,000 86/BRZ's on the road!
That's incredible when you think about it. Nissan only sold 251,410 240sx's from 1989-1998 So I'd say Scion / Toyota / Subaru are off to a pretty good start Nick C. |

So I guess the question now is whether or not this update will be the 2015 model or not...

They'll probably have a new special edition color and some different tail lights lol

Huh I'm surprised we made it to post 6, lets cut to the chase:
"Update" =/= power increase. flame on. |
Maybe it'll be a diesel and they'll give you 2 gallons free exhaust fluid.
|
100000? Wow that's scary
|
My bet is on a facelift and some interior changes
|
Hopefully some parts that are swappable into the first 86's

Still 200hp. Definitely interested to see what the updates are! They really need to make the HID lights standard across all of the Scions. Subaru's doing it, why don't they? |
Golly gee! I hope it's a 1.3L diesel + hatchback, and they cut the wheelbase in half so I can parallel park on the Champs Elysees while cramming buttloads of french baguettes into the rear. Do it for that clown at Toyota Europe! If he still has his job that is.

So what about the Bull Sh!t that the European editor wrote about poor sales all around the world and no updated FRS will be coming out in the foreseeable future. That guy should be hanged. They might not be moving a lot of FRS's in Europe but they sure hell are moving a ton in America.

facelift/wheels/lights change?
looking forward to seeing if there would be anything worth swapping out onto the 1st gen to keep the car looking close to oem |

For the last Toyota sports car, the MR-S, when they did their refresh they updated the front fascia, side vents, rear fascia inserts, tail lights, head lights, wheels sizes, added remote unlock, updated stereo, new seats, stronger axles and a little chassis bracing. Weight went up a bit. There were no increases in HP or performance. All the stuff could be bolted on the earlier models.
Let's see if history repeats itself as it so often does with Toyota. |
Does anyone know or have an idea of when the 2015 model would be on the dealers floor? This info would really help me out. Thank you!!

Even if I knew, I can't say. In Tada-san's post, he stated that "We're working hard to make it possible for current owner be able to update." (in Japanese) |
Here comes the resurrection of the buy a 2014 or wait for the 2015 refresh threads!!!!!

Glad to hear it! |

It's hard to compare apples to oranges. Plus, first-year S13 sales was around 60-70K IIRC, and it tanked fast after that. First year S14 sales was around 25K. In the US. -alex |
This is interesting news. I still think it will be cheaper to upgrade rather than trade in/up.
Purchased: 07/2012 Price: $26,250 Owe: $16,000 Estimated new price: $34,450 (price of base STi) Difference: $18,450 I think it would take less money to make my 2013 better than the newer model. Correct me if I'm wrong... |

still don't think that there is any way in hell that they will add a turbo.
if they do, make it trd (and a sc), and sell me it. but I just don't see it happening |
