So what do you all think? ;)

Someone did a good job shopping that, but it looks good imo

I thought they were going to be separate platforms from the impreza

Looks like its caught between luxury and sport. Im not sure if I like it, would like to see some authentic concept in action photo's first.

SkitterSkotter 01-07-2013 01:02 AM

So a honda civic si mated with a STI? Looks decent and like a modern progression of the car. I'm no interested in the looks, rather the direction in which they take that FA20 under the bonnet. In a perfect world I would use that engine to swap into the fr-s instead of boosting a motor made for N/A. I'm still going with around 340hp out of that...

TylerLieberman 01-07-2013 05:37 PM

Not real. This photoshop has been out for over a year now. I do hope that they dont screw up the design on the next model though.

So many cars have continued getting bigger and uglier over the past years

Yes and it's just as fugly now as it was when it first came out.

I hope the new STI looks nothing like the current Impreza because that is one of the most hideous cars on the road.

This is new and exciting.

VSGTS14 01-08-2013 09:48 AM

this is old and fake.

What ^ said!

Thats so 2012 :P

Beyer Subaru 01-08-2013 09:55 AM

You mean this isn't new? Are you trying to tell me that this is a bad Motor Trend chop of a plain jane Impreza from May of 2011? But LeeMaster said it's the 2015 Subaru WRX STi. He wouldn't post something that was old.

VSGTS14 01-08-2013 10:12 AM

LOL.:sigh:
i'm so tired of these threads, even on iwsti.com people are like omgz here is the new STi!!!

when in reality, there is NO official release even set for the car or is this release from subaru.

Asterisked Accolade 01-08-2013 10:12 AM

I don't think the pic looks much different from the current model. Maybe the headlights, but everything else seems pretty similar. Personally, i like the older "Hawk-eye" imprezas more than the new ones, but it isn't bad.

TylerLieberman 01-08-2013 11:58 AM

It is a photoshopped stock impreza. They added a hoodscoop and wing, painted the car blue and stock wheels gold, added sti badges and called it a day.

You can even see the base impreza interior. It'll be a while before we see a new wrx/sti. Probably wont see any official pics til towards the end of the year.

Keep in mind they also said that they were bot going to be based off the base impreza anymore....which means they wont look like the base impreza with a bit of flare. It will be a new chassis and new body.

There is a speculation of the new STi that it will not ride on the current Impreza chassis, but rather ride on its own. It will be smaller, lighter, and more rigid than ever. Combined with currently developing smaller box4 turbo engine (speculation calls for 2.0L or less), it will be a fantastic all around performer.

this is what i have read. based on their excellent sales and what the car has become, it's hard to upgrade it when it's based off an econo car's platform.

it won't bear the impreza name or styling at all. if all goes to plan, it'll be a brand new car, it's own interior, exterior, parts. that's if subaru really wants to brand itself.

Can you share the link where did you read this information?

srtblake 01-08-2013 04:24 PM

I doubt it. Its an upgraded econobox-ish car now that sells for $40k. Their going to make the sti its own platform? I cant imagine that being sub-$50k and even for that price, you can buy a Porsche. Seems foolish to make an already expensive car more exclusive and more expensive and expect greater sales.

if not it's own platform (i doubt too), i think they are utilizing the legacy platform, as it's new.
but are straying away from it bearing a resemblance to the current impreza.

that is the million dollar question. How do you base a rally/badass looking model off of a budget impreza or legacy. IMO they failed with the previous gen....

SubieNate 01-08-2013 05:48 PM

I saw more recent spy shots of an impreza mule with a hood scoop grafted on, indicating turbo.

My guess is they're doing drivetrain testing using the Impreza chassis. Remember the BRZ mule we saw at the very beginning that was basically a chopped up Impreza coupe? looks wise it's nothing like the production car so there's every possibility that the WRX will look quite different than the current Impreza. There's a reason they haven't moved the current WRX/STi to the current Impreza chassis. If they were going to do that they would have released them concurrently.

For the record, I quite like the new Impreza for what it is. A very practical, above average econobox. :)

Nice! Did you get some inspiration from the Advanced Tourer concept?

WingsofWar 01-09-2013 11:58 AM

actually no, this is just off the top of my head from what i see of subaru's styling cues. There is a subaru dealer next to my house i have to pass by every day so thats practically my inspiration.

That looks nice. I think '15 WRX will loose that grill, but rest might be in right direction :D

Minus2 01-09-2013 02:46 PM

No widebody like the current gen = no care :D.

Dayyyum! If I tried doing that in ten minutes I'd most likely create a mountain of crumbled up balls of paper in the waste basket.

I agree with @ichitaka05, that grill will probably be exiting for their new design.

ScoobyBlue 01-14-2013 11:28 PM

Looks like the 2004-2005 model, sortof. I liked that version, I hated the pig snout 2006-2007 model look.

Chip Foose quality!

I'm jelly

aehachiroku 01-16-2013 08:07 PM

I believe I read somewhere that Subaru plans on making the WRX/STi it's own platform.
So rather than a Subaru Impreza WRX STi it would be Subaru WRX.

Regardless I hope they design something that looks good this time around

One can only wish it would be that low and 2 doors.

so sad its nothing like the concept car. Now that WRX was hot!

m.box.design 10-07-2013 11:54 PM

unless that's still a mule, looks like the wrx/sti merging back into the impreza, rather than a separation!

4Running Daily 10-08-2013 12:02 AM

looks like the rims off a Volvo S60

n2oinferno 10-09-2013 08:54 AM

If that's not a mule I'm disappointed. What happened to making them a different car, and why wasting money and wowing the crowd with the concept?

edit: according to Jalopnik http://jalopnik.com/if-this-isnt-the...-it-1441992236
Quote:

Subaru, when contacted by Jalopnik, said that it's a "FHI test mule for the new EyeSight 3" and added they wouldn't comment on the future WRX.

raul 10-09-2013 10:54 AM

That is a Legacy. Please stop starting silly rumors.

ichitaka05 10-09-2013 12:24 PM

Ah... NO!!!!

That's Legacy 2.0GT with FA20 turbo engine. Not WRX or STI
