OpenFlash Tablet Firmware 1.23 Preview

Hi guys,
In the never ending pursuit of bad-assery we are always looking for mays to improve the OpenFlash Tablet. This still probably a couple days away from public release. But just wanted to give you guys a preview of what is coming. If you are currently waiting for an OFT, you will be happy to hear that it will ship with these new updates:

1) Multi-vehicle Compatibility
[ame]http://youtu.be/5tYRpJqTECk[/ame]

OFTs will arrive to customers with the ability to be installed in any of our currently supported vehicles. This means that you have the choice to install your OFT in any of the following:
-FRS/BRZ/GT86
-Mazda MX5
-BMW 135/335/535/1M/Z4 (N54)
-BMW 128/328/528/325/330 (N51,N52,N53)
This probably won't have value to most people who just have one of the supported vehicles. But it would come in quite handy when it comes time to resell the unit or if you decide to switch cars. As always, the OFT can only be installed in one car at a time. For those who want the pretty BRZ/FRS/GT86 background pic that you currently have, we will have a template file on the website that you can download.

1) Enhanced Datalogging.
[ame]http://youtu.be/PbTP0jfGnZQ[/ame]

Please excuse the video stability. I was holding the iPhone in one hand and using the OFT in the other. It's hard to use a touchscreen when you are viewing reality through a phone screen :) But now you can see the additional data logging channels. There are a lot of them (and room for many more to come in the future). Among the current updates is the ability to log Advance Multiplier for all ROM types (not just USDM ROMs).

Got some more stuff in the pipeline too. But more on them later :)

Cheers
Shiv

From the website, NC Miata OFT is $54 cheaper than FR-S/BRZ.. So any future customers can purchase Miata tablet and install it on FA20 engine?

That question fits perfectly with your avatar image...

I'd like to know as well as I am planning on ordering my OFT soon!

Lol.. MX5 OFT will be raised to the same $499 price this week. That was just a brief into price we had for a couple of weeks.

We see up to 10hp gains. But biggest differences are improvements to low end torque. The stock tune runs 14.7:1 AFR up to 5000rpm for emissions reasons. We offer the only tune that fixes that :)

I plugged my OFT into my laptop today and it found an update, it automatically began to update but locked up. Now I show HW Ver:100 Fw Ver:123? Did it upload this 1.23 Firmware?

I was updated to 1.23 as well. Unfortunately, the update brought no new functionality to my OFT.

Correct. A new template file is needed to add functionality :)

Ok, just wanted to make sure I did not have some Beta version ;)

wparsons 03-05-2014 11:21 AM

Can't wait for this update :D

zc06_kisstherain 03-05-2014 11:33 AM

wow! multi vehicle support! this is great.
this won't be my case but if someone has both BRZ/FRS & Miata, only 1 car can be used? is there option for 2 cars can be used? like unlocking software for 2 cars?

Yay for resale value! Would be fun to take to car meets and flash other people's rides hehe.

Hi Shiv!

Seems i have upgraded OF manager and template,
but having at least 1 issue: accel pedal gauge is rapidly jumping around 300%% value. Can i fix this myself or should i wait for some actions from your side?
And my temp gauges are in FAHRENHITEs - can i change it onto celsiums somehow? I don't understand F values :bonk: and my car is metric allover.
Thank you in advance,

There is a bug with that one channel. Just don't select it for now.

Ok, thank you.
How to change F to C then? And i didnot check the speed gauge running yet - would like to have it in km/h as well instead of miles.

Sorry no option for changing US to metric just yet. I agree it would be nice though. Can u log Adv mult now?

Captain Insano 03-05-2014 08:21 PM

Very cool. Excited to try out the new logging parameters.

Just synched to the latest firmware.

wparsons 03-05-2014 10:00 PM

hey @shiv@vishnu, I'm getting an error when I try to open the real time data viewer after the update. I've tried key on/off, engine running/not and connecting it to open flash manager to see if there's another update (which there wasn't, no surprise) with no luck.

Is there anything I can pull off the tablet or open flash manager to help you troubleshoot the issue?

yes indeed. But did you also upload the new template file?

Shiv@Openflash 03-05-2014 10:30 PM

Update to all: firmware 1.23 update us now available! Just connect your OFT to your laptop and run OpenFlash Manager. You must have a wifi connection. Then upgrade to the new Template file that is available for download on the website :)

wparsons 03-05-2014 10:39 PM

Didn't download the template, but I did just update to OFM 1.07 and it found more updates. Going to upload the new template file then go try it in the car again.

*edit* it's working now!

Next question, how do I get the GT86 background image back?

Yeah I like the GT86 much better than the Samsung Galaxy background myself

Sent from Note III on BoBCaTROM

ffs, who the hell thought the samsung galaxy background looks good?

Perfect! Thank you for the confirmation :)

Shiv@Openflash 03-06-2014 03:05 AM

Also, I just posted a new Template on the site (http://openflashtablet.com/products/...s-2/index.html). Same as before. But the FRS background pic is back :)

Thanks!!
IAM works on the I series ROM.
Other than that, just metric units for non-US apart from fbkc and flkc unless kc is meant to be one of those two?

troek 03-06-2014 05:26 AM

IAM is not working on A series roms. everything else rocks!

Edit: also good work shiv on listening to people about the background image lol, it only lasted a few hours

Ok. We should be able to add support for A series ROMs by Friday. We didn't have access to the is ROM until after we added the channel IDs to the data logging code. So we'll add it to the mix :)

FBKC (Feedback Knock Correction) is the same thing as Knock Correction in the OFT logging. We haven't added FLKC (Fine Learning Knock Correction) yet because it's a stored value based upon different load/rpm combinations so we need to work out a good display option for it.

If you can add a table view of FLKC on a separate page it would be great. Viewing FLKC in table view has helped me understand where exactly and knock is happening.

Man you work fast!

wparsons 03-06-2014 10:52 AM

New bug I've found, the graphing view of sensor data isn't working anymore. I see the immediate values changing on the left, but there is no graph drawn. I'm assuming it's related to the channels I've selected, but don't remember which ones are on.

I'll get more useful information tonight when I get home, I realize how useless this is without knowing more details :D

1 tablet is more convenient.
unlocking software to use 2 vehicle would be great though.
of course, paying more for unlocking these feature if available. just thought

All the channels in the graphics viewer are de-selected by default. So you only see them update numerical values, not graph realtime. You need to manually select which ones you want to graph by touching them to enable :)

It's would be a complicated affair to provide memory allocations for two original files, two compatible sets of maps and two simultaneously running protocols. Not saying that it would be impossible but it would certainly add a lot of work to the reasonably simple concept that we currently employ with respect to OFT/vehicle marrying.

Ondreiko 03-06-2014 02:43 PM

Hey Shiv!
So i logged mine today, there are so many channels so i am not sure which ones do i have to choose for viewing.
This is the log:
http://datazap.me/u/ondreiko/1st-ext...0&data=1-2-5-8

and it looks like you set the Adv. Multiplier to 1 by default in order to disable me asking stupid questions lol :happyanim:
But! there are some strange readings of the throttle angle - is it the same bug that lives in accel pedal gauge?
