The Mother of All "How to Remove Swirls from Your Paint for Novices!"

That's right boys and girls, The Junkman has went and made paint correction so easy, a caveman could do it! In the following videos, I cover the entire process from start to finish.

If you have ever been apprehensive about using a machine to rid your paint of scratches and swirls, you will definitely not be worried after watching this video series. I break it down to a level where a 10 year old can watch these videos and start fixing paint. The supplies and equipment that I use are readily available in the USA and abroad (for the most part). If you have a serious desire to finally fix your paint and about 1 hour and 54 minutes, then this video series is totally for you. After you have watched this series, you will not believe how easy I have made this.

So sit back and get out some popcorn, kick up your feet and enjoy. The Junkman is about to burst onto your screen in a way that only the Junkman can!

Here are your before and after shots, which won't make a lot of sense until you have watched the videos, especially when you see how the number "2" ended up in the paint!

AFTER!

Due to the accidental deletion of the videos that I used in this thread, I have recovered them and made it into one, long video. It's the same exact information, just combined into one video. Enjoy!

You've held off on posting for 1 entire year just to troll the detailing subforum? I guess it's good info and all, but still. Really?

awesome post. Thanks!

Check it out dude. I am on about 50 different detailing forums, helping people fix their paint across the world. NOT the nation, THE WORLD. I HELP people. I have no time to troll, nor do I care too. Maybe if you spent a little time on Google, you would get an idea as to just how much help I offer people. So before you try and call me out, learn something about me and who I am. Trolling is not in my makeup and A LOT of people find my information VERY useful.

People don't fly trolls to their houses and car clubs to show them how to fix the paint on their own cars.

Whoa, that escalated pretty quickly. First off, I don't care. B) Still doesn't explain why you joined LAST YEAR and started posting TODAY.

Because it is my daily driver. The thing has more rust holes in it than the Titanic. Had you watched ALL of the videos, you would have seen me dancing on the hood. I could care LESS with how that car looks because I use it to take money away from people who assume things like you. The drive train and everything associated with it would scare you with all its nastiness. It's called a sleeper and you definitely don't want any of it. ;)

So his first post is an informative how-to series and you immediately get suspicious? wth, man?

There's plenty of others whose first posts are of generally stupid questions or things that could have been answered with a decent search, yet this guy's first posts are actually... helpful, and yet you just jump all over him? Just a bit confused here.

Instead, why not judge based on the content? View the videos and see if he's actually giving good, useful information, or just talking a load of crap.

That should take about 2 hours, so instead of spending the next 2 hours posting, why not spend them watching... THEN get back to us.

Subbing to watch the vids later when I'm not on the VPN (which has YT blocked).

sshole 03-04-2014 12:13 PM

You guys seem to be missing my point.

He joined last year.

He posted good information (I agreed to this in my first post, even!).

He posted said good information a year after he joined.

He also appears to be trying to sell his own microfiber towels in his other thread (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59817), which would be against forum rules. Edit: I haven't watched that other video because my lunch break is only 30 minutes long and I would rather not waste half of that time watching this guy's goofy face move about my computer screen.

But who am I to judge. I'm just the asshole who didn't serve in the military so this guy's international audience can have internet.

Right?

SirBrass 03-04-2014 12:17 PM

If he's doing that in another thread, then let the mods handle it there. Don't bring that over here.

I see nothing wrong with lurking for a year. Means at the very least that he's been reading here for a year before deciding to open his mouth. Good for him. Not your business.

Now, if he starts acting suspicious with his posts, then that's cause for concern, but lurking for a year isn't suspicious unless what he's posting IS. This doesn't happen to fall under that moniker. It does fall under "pretty damn useful!"

And if his microfiber towels ARE that great, then let him apply as a vendor and sell them here if he's that confident in them, and let us be the judge of whether his product is good or not.

If the OP had presented his case as eloquently as you have, then maybe I wouldn't have been so suspicious in the first place. I won't even go into him using his military service as a cop out.

Wow, you really keep stepping in it today, don't you? http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/facepalm.gif

I don't sell Microfiber towels. I own a computer networking firm. That's what I do for a living. I had to buy the towels that I showed in that video in order to evaluate them myself. Once I found out how nice they were, I shared that information with the world via the Internet. You know, sorta like what the Internet is all about? Sharing information? But since you haven't bothered to look at any of my videos, you don't know that now do you?

Oh, and the military is not a cop out. You will find that I am one VERY proud Marine if you watch ANY of my videos. The hood liner on my car reflects that.

But again, you have judged without doing any footwork now have you?

If you had put in a link to a product that you thought was good to use, it would've curbed much of my suspicion. Since you have clarified that point, I shall remove myself from this thread.

Good info you posted, regardless of what this convo may have devolved into.

No offense, but posting a youtube video of what sounds like a poorly running El Camino doesn't scare me. In addition, my FR-S is my daily driver, and I still would not leave a wrench laying on it. Lastly, you will never take any of my money as your response to any form of criticism is poor at best. Instead of immediately lashing out, a better approach would be to make a joke or counter with an intelligent response rather then making angry comments about taking money from people.

z3ro, while I have never served, there is a term for what you describe in the last sentence. That term is "terminal lance". It's usually seen in combat MOS's (or whatever acronymn the USMC uses for the same thing).

I'd reserve judgement on that, is all.

Never heard that one. We used to call them "Lance Colonel's"

SirBrass 03-04-2014 12:48 PM

Basically it's a term for someone who is literally stuck at lance b/c of how the service determines advancement and where it needs to "refill" positions. So, you can have a perfectly promotable lance cpl , but b/c of how the system works, if he's combat related, he can easily fall into the cracks and NEVER get promoted, and remain a lance until his term of service is up and he decides to not re-up.

Not sure if that's the case with junkman. I just bring it up as a fairly common example of how someone can be lance for quite a long time due to no fault of his own.

BAM! NAILED IT!

For someone who didn't serve, you are VERY aware of how the system works. I kept my nose clean for 4 years straight. Not a blemish on my record whatsoever. But because I was an 0311 (combat infantry man), and served during a time when getting promoted was a luxury, I did good to make E4 (Corporal). You my man KNOW a thing or two about the military.

The BS comes with the territory. I understand that, especially given the age of some of the people who bring it. But I know how good people can get ran off of a forum by one or two individuals and how the masses will be the ones who really lose out. That's why I just deal with it and keep the good info coming. I'm bringing what essentially is a college course in paint correction. You usually have to pay for this stuff but I offer it up for free. What do I get in return? The fellowship of people across the globe. I have met more people and been invited into more homes of total strangers than I can count. The opportunity to break bread and fellowship with another person has been more fruitful than any monetary amount. You can't buy that with any amount of money and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything.

People for the most part are good and I like meeting good people. Always have, always will.

Part 1 - Hey boys and girls! Finally, a video series that takes the process of paint correction from the beginning to the end (from claying to waxing). Although I do not apply any wax at the end, I cover everything else in detail. This series is 1 hour and 54 minutes long so that should give you an idea as to how much detail I go into.

In this first video, I talk in detail about exactly what paint correction is. I also go into detail about the polishing technique you should use as well as the best product on the market that you should buy. I cover other topics too so just sit back and kick up your feet. This video is 15 minutes and 7 seconds long.

How To for Novice to Machine Polishing - Part 1 - YouTube

Part 2 - In this video, I go into detail about exactly what I use to remove the paint damage within this video series. I name and visually show every piece of equipment as well as all of the products necessary to do paint correction. In some cases, I even offer up a location where you can find the products that I use. I talk about why I chose to use the products that I use as well as what I don't use. If you want a list of these items, WATCH THIS VIDEO.

How To for Novices to Machine Polishing - Part 2 - YouTube

Part 3 - Okay, in this video I identify the damage that we are going to repair. I even go as far to create some damage just to ensure that my paint will be more jacked up than your paint. I then go into detail about claying, and what it does for your finish. Last of all, I show how to assemble the PC-7424XP so that we can start the polishing process. The video following this video will be in high definition so that you can clearly see the damage and the effectiveness of my repair.

How To for Novices to Machine Polishing - Part 3 - YouTube

Part 4 - Because I wanted the viewers of this video to be able to see the results of the work that I did in high detail, I uploaded this video in high definition. That took 12 hours!

In this video, I actually go into the proper technique for polishing with the PC-7424XP, showing me using the machine properly. I show the polishes that I use, the pads that each polish is used on, how to work the polisher and how much polish should be used. I also talk about the importance of not using too much polish and clogging up the pores in the pads, which makes the whole process worthless. I go into the discussion of how long to work a polish and when to stop (after a polish flashes). I show which order the polishes are used and explain why you use them in that order.

One thing that I stress in this video is the importance of a solid technique. I talk about and show the technique that I use, as well as how to ensure that you are developing a solid technique. As I say often in this video series, "Technique trumps product 365, 24/7. No matter who's polishes you decide to use, none of them will work worth a darn if your technique sucks. Technique rules!

How To for Novices to Machine Polishing - Part 4 - YouTube

Conclusion - I recap my process and allow you into my mindset concerning paint correction and caring for your paint.

How To for Novice to Machine Polishing - Part 5 - YouTube

I was just curious if it necessary to buy a 5" counter weight and backing plate? I see that it comes with a 6" counterweight. Does it come with a 6" backing plate as well? I was just going to order the 6.5" Hexlogic buffing pads. But if you really feel that a 5" backing plate is best for a novice. I will take heed and purchase. If so, does a 5" backing plate work on the 6" counter weight. I noticed the counter weight says "for 6 inch backing plate only". So I would presume that is the case?

Thanks in advanced!

P.S.

Excellent series of videos for novice polishing.

And your El Camino sounds like it has some serious cam going on. I believe you stated 500hp under the hood. @z3ro-it would fucking smoke your ride and you have no idea what a good muscle car sounds like. Quit trolling and go play with yourself.

Good work and thanks for your help @Junkman2008!

Thanks for watching. ;)

There a TON of information in those videos and I specifically address the two things you are questioning. One being the counter-weight and two being the size of the back plate and pads. Because I was so detailed about what I said concerning those topics, I'm going to send you back to the videos again. If you missed that info, you probably missed some other stuff too. Thus, you are the one who would benefit immensely from a second watching. I always suggest taking notes because there is no way you can retain 2-hours of information if it is new to you.
