Let's Show Our Support for FRS300!

Community members, I am sure most of you are familiar with the many challenges our fellow boosted comrade, @Frs300 , has had with his dream ride. All he wanted is what many of us more fortunate people already have, a boosted twin that you can take pride in. I, for one, was following his thread daily just waiting for the day when we would see that "post build" dyno run! He was one of the first to head down the path of rebuilding his motor and we were all living vicariously while he paved the way for the rest of us.
Or so we thought...
What happened to him is deplorable. I didn't create this thread to dig up old dirt or slam a vendor. There is a vendor review thread already for that. @PrimeMotoring now has his car and i am sure they will be doing what they can to make the best out of a bad situation.
If you would like to help, please feel free to donate to the cause!

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...=T4Z7ALDRX2ADL

Please keep this thread clean and show your support in a positive manner! Bashing will only cause the thread to get locked or deleted and that isn't what @Frs300 needs right now...

If he does that he may not make it home

Might help if people see a goal, myself included. Is there an amount in mind that would keep FRS300 out of the red?

I don't know if there is an easy way to track it or for @Frs300 to quantify it. The only tool i see in the forum is the poll feature. Anyone know of a creative way to utilize it? I will leave it up to @Frs300 to determine the best way to be transparent.

lexusb3 03-04-2014 10:21 AM

Tell how much was donated each unless ppl want to keep it private

Hoo boy.

And its customary to state a goal. Demanding to find out how much people donate is, for lack of a better term, extremely rude.

wrxgoose 03-04-2014 10:42 AM

Ashe and I plan on going to Lego Land, so when we do, we'll stop by to see FRS300 and buy you food/beer. :D (mainly because i has no pay pal)

That's true but there is no other way to track that publicly ? Or at least on here just saying

Really trying to show restraint here, in the spirit of being nice and helping. Why would you want to know how much people donate? Am I missing something here?

As tasteful as talking about how much you make to strangers on the internet

I vote keep everything private

SirBrass 03-04-2014 12:55 PM

I'd like to know what the fund raising goal will be and how much has currently been raised.

Knowing who donated, how many people donated, and/or who donanted how much is just tacky and none of anyone else's business. But it would be helpful to see current total donated and goal.

Or just donation goal.

I didn't mean it to be rude. I ment in a way of finding out a way to see the goal or how much is needed left to find out if he reached his goal. Make frs300 updated from time to time idk. I personally don't want to know lol

lexusb3 03-04-2014 02:03 PM

And it's not my business as we'll :)

That's unnecessary. A donation is a donation, regardless of the amount. There's nothing to be gained by disclosing those who donate.

pixel67 03-04-2014 03:18 PM

Wow, i think folks are over thinking this...

Its a slippery slope either way for him. If @Frs300 states a goal that is deemed too high then folks will say he is taking advantage of the good nature of the community and being greedy. If he receives a fair amount of money, even though the goal may be low, then he will be viewed as taking advantage of the community and being greedy. Why make him a victim again...

This isn't about the amount, it is about the gesture...

If you have a personal issue or concern about giving, that is fine. Really!! To each their own.

He didn't ask me to do any of this and I see no need to put him under additional scrutinization or ask him to jump through hoops as a result.

I agreed. Just saying to everyone I did not mean for it to have been rude. I should have re worded what I said. I wish him the best and boost forever being that it's built lol. I did not mean for people to say Lexus donated 100.00 bucks I meant like a goal is 1000.00 dollars lol and a list of those who donated so that they can be recognized and as we'll that he reached his goal of this donation. Weather it's 10 bucks or 1000 dollars. :)

Understood, but my point still stands. He has NO obligation to disclose the cumulative amount of the donations he has received. He will have a list of those who donated through paypal and he can thank folks individually through that channel if he wishes. No need to overcomplicate a simple act of kindness.

lexusb3 03-04-2014 03:58 PM

So at the end he will make his thread saying thanks to everyone who has helped me out with a (list) through this crappy journey. I am built tuned and burning rubber :) at frs300 I'll be waiting to race you :) on a closed course

Tru thanks sorry didn't mean to hurt feelings

Frs300 03-04-2014 10:27 PM

I didnt set this up so I had no goal in mind. I guess if i had to set a goal It would be just to cover whatever parts are messed up and stuff i didnt get.

head studs
motor mounts
clutch
bigger pump
return system
oem parts that are jacked up

thats all stuff im going to have to pay for out of pocket might be more stuff after motor comes out who knows. I dont really want to think about it

Sonolin 03-04-2014 10:39 PM

This isn't a kickstarter. This is for people who want to donate due to all the shit he's been through. I'm sure any amount of money would be welcome. And at this point he's probably over 50k deep in this mess...

Sad the crap job FA20club did. I'd much rather this money go to suing their asses but either way as longs as its used well

I'll be donating as soon as my check clears, GL @Frs300

slicktop 03-04-2014 10:46 PM

Lots of different ways to think about this, whether or not people think he's mooching isn't even an issue.

Guaranteed the amount needed to get his car up and running 100% will dwarf the amount donated.

Best of luck, Brandon. I'm sure you're getting a hold of @FullBlown for a return system. A single Walbro 400 in their return system will reach your goal with ease, and with plenty of headroom, for a very affordable price.

Donated. Not much, but trying to help out someone who had a truly shitty thing happen. Here's a thought - after every week or two maybe @Frs300 could post how much has been raised so we as a community can pride ourselves on helping one another. If not it's cool. Good luck man.
