Just can not do this anymore

Well ... after 6 months of ownership, I decided I just could not live with the limited power. I had a choice to either build the engine or buy something new. I bought something new. I dropped my series 10 auto with nag off at carmax fort myers ... and got $22k for it.

I still have the original series 10 car floor mats and Daytime Driving Lights modifier (keeps the led's on) ... will sell.

raven1231 02-26-2014 09:07 PM

Really? You go from an Fr-s to this lol

Love the ride btw

FRSure 02-26-2014 09:10 PM

Oh. My. God.
What model Lotus is that? I can't find it anywhere.

Evora

rskdsk 02-26-2014 09:18 PM

It is a Lotus Evora IPS loaded ... every option. I know it is a big change, but I am trying to keep a car for more than a year.

My criteria was

automatic
4-seats
daily driver with the ability to use at car shows
homelink
fast

I test drove the GTR, but I just could not get past the ugly

frslee 02-26-2014 09:20 PM

Effing sexy... saw one in DC once and I was instantly in love with it.

Congrats!!!

LOL thats funny cause i think the same about the front, the back is sexy tho

rskdsk 02-26-2014 09:25 PM

This is one of 90 imported in 2012 ... and 1 of 2 in this color coho (carbon with viper red interior with carbon fiber seat sticking) ... and 1 of 1 with all the options.

MMorganFRS 02-26-2014 09:27 PM

How many miles did your car have when u traded it in? Thats a dang good offer from carmax

rskdsk 02-26-2014 09:28 PM

It is not the best pic ... in person this car causes women to forget they are married or have boyfriends

rskdsk 02-26-2014 09:28 PM

about 4500 miles ... I agree, 22k for the car was a strong offer

Haha, 4 seats? You must be tiny!

Beautiful car man, make sure to get an exhaust on that thing and make it sound as good as it looks.

SkAsphalt 02-26-2014 09:53 PM

Just... the lamest thread ever

Couldn't handle super inexpensive sports car not being amazing. Spent 4 times as much to get something else... whatever dude

I really dont get if these were your criterias how you ended up with the FR-S in the first place... You basically bought the best low budget drivers car, hated it, then bought and more expensive and ever better drivers car to daily drive ? Why didnt you get an AMG or S7 if you want a fast automatic for shows as a daily driver...

Sad to see you go, but good looking car. Here is a tip :).. let the new monograms owners know that you will be parting with your resistor/modifier. I can guarantee there will be someone looking to pick that up asap.

ericmpena 02-26-2014 10:22 PM

Nice car! I may be crazy but I'd keep my BRZ over a Lotus. My car has grown onto me. I'd find it near impossible to replace it with anything else...except maybe a white LFA. :)

rskdsk 02-26-2014 10:35 PM

Yes I spent more ... not nearly as much as you may think ... just under 60k (double the price, not 4x) and really AMG ... s7 ... common be real. You need to see one in person... then you'll understand.

I had an epiphany ... just buy what you really want ... not what makes since ... you'll be much happier

here is the link to the car for sale already:

Hey I'm not bashing your choice, it just seems that from your criterias, you don't seem to be looking for a track beast (Lotus) but more for a refined but brageable fast daily driver (hence why I said AMG, S Line or maybe M)

Evora isn't a track beast, it's Lotus way of selling a more suitable DD car to the masses to increase profits and overall sales volume.

His car is still a Toyota, look at the engine. Even that auto tranny...

Grats on the car, i see a white one on my morning commute often.

I stand corrected then. Always though all lotus were track beast. I had a friend whos dad bough him one and it was the worst DD.. It was an Elise though. I just dont get the ppint of an auto trans on that. Like PDK on new GT3... Stupid if you ask me.

That's how you sell DD sport cars, you put an auto. There are manuals one too, and the auto in this car is no joke as well...

You see, where Porsche fucked up is not offering both transmissions.

But that's another topic...

PDK might be faster than a manual.. Drove a Panamera Turbo (a big boat but still quick), was impressed with the transmission but to me it felt more like a CVT than a sport car...

Anyway, nice buy man, enjoy it to the fullest !!

its too bad you couldn't keep both, would hate to put so many miles on such a nice car

Sonolin 02-27-2014 05:42 AM

Very nice! Good choice :)

I've seen *one* in person in a beautiful bright red, and it was one of the most gorgeous cars I've ever seen.

Celica00 02-27-2014 05:50 AM

you sold the frs cause it was too slow but bought one of the slowest high end sports cars you can get? your logic fails me. surely you could've spent 60k-70k elsewhere. this video proves nothing its just an example. but eh, not my money and as long as it makes you happy.

I don't think you get it. His 60k sports car totally smokes everyone's 20k sports cars, and that's the concern. He didn't buy his 60k sports car to have power and speed like the other 60k sports cars XD

rskdsk 02-27-2014 06:26 AM

Let me explain something to all you haters:

1) you are correct, I could have bought a more expensive car ... and have done so in the past. I have owned many different Ferraris, Porsche, and even a lambo at one time.
2) Once you have owned those cars, you'll understand a couple of things
a) Very expensive to drive, maintain, and insure
b) Not very traffic friendly
c) No room for anything
d) Not very comfortable
All of which makes then not a practical daily driver
3) You will need a second car as a DD ... increasing auto cost even more
4) Most of the cars in that video did not meet my previously listed criteria and will never be driven daily ... too afraid to get them dirty or will leave them stranded and penniless
5) Most of those cars cost well over 6 figures ...
6) Who wants to drive another porsche ... done to death around here ... not at all exotic
7) Who wants to drive a mustang ... yuckkkk ... I would have rather rode my bike
8) I will give you the GTR ... and I even test drove one ... but they are just so ugly
9) Cars are not just HP and drag racing in a straight lines ... have the above test ... and add turns ... then see what happens.
10) This car will still smoke 9 out of 10 cars on the road today ... and can be modded if so desired ... not for me though

In the end I wanted a DD that could be reliable (think toyota), had room, could be driven in traffic, did not cost a arm to keep ... and was rare and exotic.

I challenge you to find a better car for less than 60k!

Guillaume 02-27-2014 06:28 AM

Something is bothering me with this thread.
OP buys very driver-oriented, back to basics, purist cars... with a slush box. :iono:

It's like mixing organic-fair-trade-whatnot top dollar coffee with GM corn syrup. Why?

Ok I get it now. You were fed up with not having power in a reliable, fun, practical DD, so you decided to get an underpowered car that costs 2-3 times as much to keep your costs down because it makes it more reliable and practical for DD purposes.

dnieves 02-27-2014 06:43 AM

OP did you know not know what you were getting when you bought the FR-S? Did you see the HP -were you expecting to have a faster car or did you buy it based on appearance? This is a pretty big jump in price & performance.

BTW for the money you'd think the GTR would be better looking.

I am guessing you are you are ok with a car that has so little torque that it can not break traction from a dead start on wet roads (granted my car was a auto), being bested by a Ford Fiesta on a track, and being asked if you like your Hyundai/Kia.

Sure you can dump 10k into the car and make it faster (maybe even keep up with my new car) ... and you could just toss the cash into a fire as well ... same difference.

Yes ... and agree

I did test drive the FR-S ... and really though I could live with it ... but in the end, just could not. i guess the styling sold me in the end.

The GTR is such great performance machine ... but the looks combined with all the all electronics (that could go wrong) and the maintenance expenses really got me thinking ...
