+1,000$ into the FI fund.

$1000 doesn't buy you much but i'd get a cat back of some sort.

Easy - $500 - Open Flash Tablet w/e85 tune. Everyone that has access to e85 should do this immediately. The other $500 it all depends on your goals, 1. Driver mod 2. Tires 3. Brakes pads + Fluid 4. Header |
Catback

Springs, Lip, Hood Struts, Hella Horns... If I had extra $1k to spend right now lol
|
1. Tires
2. Short shifter, rear shifter bushing, Mtec springs, quality weighted shift knob 3. Led bulb swap for all incandescents 4. Clear or smoked side markers I'm on my phone so if I make mistakes, blame Sportsguy83 |
Tires. Or rims. Can I have $2k so I can get BOTH?
|
1000 Dollars can only get a cat back... or a set of good tires.... :\
|
Well, since I already got winter tires & steelies, & I'm getting a clear bra when the weather clears up (I'd highly suggest doing it when you buy your car if using as a DD, I didn't & I regret it) I'd go for one of these (in no particular order)
Again this is an "or" list not an "and" list 1) Exhaust 2) Nice set of 17" or 18" rims. 2b) Performance Tires for the new rims 3) Tint & New Tailights/Brakelights (& hookup the bottom brakelight) 4) Track Day Entry/Insurance/Gas/Merchandise 5) Aero Kit |
I would go with:
1. OFT and OFH |
So many people suggesting catbacks...I get the sound/looks aspect, and will picking one up eventually myself, but there are much better ways to spend $1k on a stock car that actually have an effect on performance.
If you want power, just buy a header and or/ OFT. Or put it towards a drop + wheels/tires. |
OFT OFH front pipe and down pipe :)
|
Counting the $500 or so I've already spent on small mods, I'd probably get:
1) Grimmspeed Strut Tower Brace ($170) 2) Back up camera + install ($130) 3) LED front/rear turn signals + relay ($50) 4) Radar detector? ($150+) =$1000 |

Such a personal question considering your interests could be in handling, power, sound, aesthetics. If you're not looking to break loose the rear end I'd put that $1000 into wider wheels (used), and new tires. A catback isn't going to give you any performance by itself. If you want more power look at getting new headers without a cat and then front pipe and catback (overpipe too). If you like how the car handles and moves but just want to make it look and sound better then get a catback, tint, and save up for some new wheels and tires. Tell us what your priority is and we can give you better feedback.

Clear bra
|
I'd do intake, tints, duckbill spoiler, used toms, axleback

Pads, lines, and fluid. Oil changes, gearbox fluid, and diff along the way. The rest on hpde and lapping days. Pretty much what I'm spending the next K on.
|
I would buy 1/10th of a turbo kit, exhaust and tune...

Skip Barber Teen Safety and Survival School: $995
Lunch at Burger King: $5 Complimentary paper crown at Burger King: $0 Wear the crown after graduating. You'll feel like a king. |
well since I already have about 1k in my car... I really care about getting the best tint that i could(see Texas summers). I don't want to do anything to change the characteristics of the car yet, just make it feel/look a little better. exhaust+tune is coming soon I want to see what PTuning does with their header before i make a choice there.
375 - Huper optic Tint 70 - clear side markers 115 - sharkfin 65 - front plate relocator 225 - short shifter + rear bushing 30 - transmission bushing 45 - transmission fluid |
Threads like this remind me of how different people's priorities can be...
A "good" set of tires is going to run you almost 800 installed, 700 if you get a deal. I can't imagine doing anything else before getting this car the grip it needs. The stock HP's are scary enough without any added power. for the balance of the grand I would add a reverse camera and get a JPMCoachworks alacantra binnacle lid - the reflection/glare in the windshield form the hard plastic stock one was very distracting to me. The weathertech floor liners are nice also. going to a bigger/wider wheel may actually slow you down and reduce acceleration - make sure you know what you are doing with wheel weight and distribution, rolling resistance, and final drive ratio effects (revs per mile). |
A good set of PSS's will run you less than $700 installed. Less if you go with something less top-of-the-line than PSS's.

If you are familiar with car control, I'd be torn between a nice catback or swaybars + various bushings. I bet you could get both sways, rear subframe bushings, transmission bushing, and motor mounts for under a grand. My money would probably head that direction. |
OFH + OFT tune.
|
Gears or a CF driveshaft. :burnrubber:
|
Good list guys!
|
shark fin and an Invidia N1. yes.i would like some toms tail lights too but it would be hard getting them to fit in the budget.
|
Michelin PSS and STi strut.
|
Considering I've already done some work, I'd go with headers + stage 2 tune, OEM arm rest, and probably shift knob/reverse lockout. Maybe a piece or two of JPM alcantara trim pieces, depending how much I have left at that point.
