Time to buy a new frs?
Local dealer has 5 leftover 13' FR-Ss....what would you pay for one? It's president day which is a huge sale anyways. Can dealers move on the fixed pricing if the cars are a year old?
Stickers on them say $24,9xx (manual). Anyway they would let it go for $22-$23? Thanks |
Dealers can drop the price if they are inclined to, give them a try! Feel free to walk away. Their loss.

Why don't you go and find out?
If not then go get a BRZ. You can always haggle with Subaru. |
Scion doesn't really budge on pricing, you're better finding a 13 BRZ. I'm sure you could get a premium for 23/24.
|
They can but they probably won't. They'll try and wheel and deal items that are usually fat profit for them: floor mats, wheel locks, service plans, extended warranties. They'll break even on those while still making standard profits on the cars.
|
For a 2013, they should be on "Manager Special" with a lower pricing.
I bought my 2013 FRS at the end of 2013. It was 1500 off MSRP. Right now they're giving an additional 1000 off 10 series FRS. |
Theyre gonna give you that bs that they are under pure pricing. But theres a few members on this forumn that said they got it for cheaper. Try to get some parts in for free though if they won't budge on the price

Thats what I did. Just picked up my '13 FR-S. If they can't get the price of the car any lower (I'm sure you could get at least another 500 out of them) try and see if they will include accessories. Thats what mine did. Good luck!
|
I've even seen some members post about getting the tax paid by the dealer, getting an extra year of the free maintenance, etc. I'd go in with a list of items, and just start throwing them on the table, see what they will go for. Good luck!

I just picked up a 2013 about a week ago now. Listing price online was 24,800. When we got there the amount of "dealer options" and dealer fees shot the price up to 28k that wasn't mentioned on the web ad. Eventually we haggled them down to the original listing price after they deducted all dealer fees and options and I got 1.9% apr. The dealer I was at was itching to get the 2013's off the lot so you can probably work a deal but from at least my experience you won't get much under 24. Just my .02 but good luck! Hope you can find one.

Contact every local Scion/Subaru dealership through the internet and point blank ask them what their lowest deal is on a 2013. The dealerships need to move the leftover 2013s. Someone will ultimately deal. Also ... watch out for the demo 2013 cars. I would stay clear of them.

worth trying OP! Give it a shot! That would be a GREAT price for a new FRS!
|
I got them to cut me a check for $1k for a winter tire/wheel package of my choice. I pocketed the leftover cash.
|
well guys I went in and spoke with a sales rep and their internet manager....sticker said 25,1xx and the salesman gave me a 'great deal'...... $24,533 and he wouldn't drop his $299 dealer fee.
I am better of getting a 14 BRZ Premium for a few hundred more. Thanks for the encouragement guys, I may have been able to swing something like winter tires/tint/remote start but he wouldn't budge on the price of the car so I didn't try. |
I was able to get my AT FRS for $22,500 after a college grad rebate from Koons in Tysons Corner, VA.
I guess since they're a much larger dealer they have to keep things moving, hence the low price. Either way I think I did pretty well there haha |

Any dealer can discount any car, its up to them what they are willing to do. I walked away with a 2014 BRZ Sport Tech in December for $500 over invoice.
|
Stop trying to get them to lower the price on the actual car. That's your problem. I didn't even bother because of the the pure pricing nonsense. Get what you want from them thrown in for free (starter, tint, wheels/tires, etc). They are always more willing to cut you a check for stuff like winter tires to keep scion off of their back.
|
So many people are afraid to open their mouth to the dealer because of all the "pure price" nonsense. If they want to move the car bad enough, they will work with you and lower it. Just be willing to walk and you will be a lot more effective with getting the price down.
|
Our dealer lowered the price down quite a bit around 2500.00-3000.00 on our 2014 FRS Auto Whiteout. Then they gave me 2000.00 for an old 2003 Explorer that booked retail for that. Thought we came out very well. If you don't ask you won't receive.
|
I searched cars.com for new '13s an found a few dealers with good prices. By the time they added all of their fees and such, we were pretty much back to invoice, which was above my employee price for a '14 (no trade-ins considered). For whatever reason, dealers seem content on letting these just sit on the lot.

I suppose I would pay what they were asking if they threw in a car starter, tint, and winter tires. But that it the only thing I didn't ask for. |
I had to talk to 5 dealerships before I found one that I wanted to deal with.
I had a '13 TC for trade in, the dealership that I bought the car from originally only offered 9k for the car. The dealership I bought my FR-S from paid off my TC in full, and got me into an FR-S (with tints/fogs/blocker heater and only 18km / 11 miles) for significantly less than some dealerships were offering on a barebones demo FRS ( with 10000km / 6000 miles). I think the difference worked out to around 5 grand. Shop around :) |
I had a Scion dealer around here who was lowering ALL 2013 FRS models down by 1k. Pretty sure they could go even lower if they wanted to. Shop around and you'll find it easily

Trust me, 90% of the FRS they have are base models. They will add features to it after you purchase the car.( if you want) The cars are relatively low miles. Less than 10. My salesman was George Davaa. We negotiated well below the WOW Price. |

How was your experience with them? |

Very good. No pressure. We talked online first using the online chat system. I asked for George. Scheduled an appointment. Went there. Greeted us. Asked if we wanna test drive. I said sure. Went out. Opened up engine bay, and explained every single detail which I knew already. We went on a test drive, and he came along with it. Casual Conversation. Went back in the dealership, asked if we would like to purchase the car. Said yes. Did the paperwork. Salesman ask: Would you like this that that that that. I said no. Salesman said: Alrighty, let met talk to the Finance department. Expect 30mins-45mins waiting time if you're planning to finance. The dealership is always packed with people. Finance guy attitude is not that nice. But w.e, you want the car for a low price, not for their attitude. If you order from them, you get lifetime free inspection. Also, you get a $150 gift card and another $200 if you finance from them. |
Called me back today and they want to lower the price.....I'll keep everyone posted.
|
Remember if your financing you will be making 3 transactions with the dealer, buying a car, selling a car, and buying financing. What is important is the amount of money that comes out of your pocket. If they won't negotiate on one transaction get it somewhere else. Good luck!
|
Never use dealer financing if you can get a lower rate through your personal bank or credit union. This gives you more negotiating power.

You would be surprised how many of these cars are running around New England.

Scion will not do a sale...even on leftovers

They are very rare around here. This dealer has five 13 leftovers and they have a 10 series in the showroom. They would be wise to lower the price. I put in a request on a price, salesmen is checking with his manager. |
I think a lot of folks put them away for the winter. I saw a lot more before the first snow.
