What does the BRZ's WRB really look like?

I'm curious about why the WRB seems to look different in various pictures.... I preordered a WRB BRZ because of pictures like these:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...0&d=1329715173
http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/2618/photocip.jpg

but then I see pictures like this:

http://www.torquenews.com/sites/defa...JPG?1333071766
http://www.torquenews.com/sites/defa...JPG?1326739156

and it looks like a completely different color....... I was wondering to the people who have actually seen the car under real lighting can tell me what it actually looks like. Cause I think the latter looks rather dull and too light of a color for me. It has me contemplating switching to Crystal Black Silica or DGM :mad0259:

Videos will probably give you the best mental idea of what the car will look like since you get to see it in dynamic lighting in different locations.

Because the nice pictures were taken by knowledgeable photographers with quality equipment under good lighting. The bland photos were taken in poor lighting (#3) or are over exposed(#4), and were shot on crappy cameras with janky contrast and saturation settings.

More like in these pictures, taken using DSLR, no post processing. This is the exact color I remember when I saw it in person and took the pictures.

Now only if that spoiler was delete-able from the dealership.

(Other people's opinions still very welcomed!)

Get a Premium! Or just take it off and fill it! Or Trunk Swap...

haha already pre-ordered Limited, plus I like all the other features Limited offers. Taking off and filling seems like a bitch and may not look as clean (although I've never seen it done). Trunk swap seems a bit much.

Wish I could get $400-500 towards some other part rather than the rear spoiler Im not really fond of.

Carbon fiber trunk is my vote..

Draco-REX 05-06-2012 09:39 PM

It's exactly the same as the WRB on the Impreza. I'm sure you can find one of those running around.

jimmillion 05-06-2012 10:07 PM

I wish we had clean lit shots of the black brz like these. It would make figuring out what to buy so much easier.

Those are two great pictures of the true WRB.

Spaceywilly 05-06-2012 10:10 PM

What Draco said. It's the same o2c as any other WRX. Try looking at any of these photos on different screens and the color will look different, and photos never capture the real look of a car's paint. Best to just go look at one in person.

bimmerboy 05-06-2012 10:17 PM

Avholic- those are probably the best pictures I have seen of WRB so far, thanks!

Any more photos of WRB or any other BRZs?

merlin2111 05-06-2012 10:21 PM

WRB FTW! I am happy that it comes with the spoiler. While I dont like THIS one I do like others that are out there and already having the holes drilled will make putting on a new one a simple swap since they will more than likely make them line up.

I'd have to second this. There are so many WRB everywhere I go.

Subaruwrxfan 05-06-2012 11:43 PM

Lol yeah, there have been multiple threads where people have no idea what this color looks like. It's been on every WRX in existence for the past 10 years, you've gotta be living under a rock to have never seen one.

I've also seen DGM and SSM BRZs in person but didn't take pictures because I didn't have my DSLR with me. Besides I was more interested with the one I ordered - WRBP.

The close-up shows the absence of metallic particles found in WR Blue MICA but not in WR Blue PEARL. I think WRB-Pearl was first introduced with BRZ. Other subies have WRB-Mica.

sexy, but jesus did they ever screw us on those exhaust tips. I understand theres a regulation about tips that protrude outside the rear bumper, but why'd they have to make them so thin too... Just shorten them and leave them the same width...

Someone find a replacement tip ASAP!

I think WRB Mica was on the GC8 WRXs, I'm pretty sure all U.S. Subarus in WRB got the pearl. Could be wrong though, but I haven't heard anybody mention WRB Mica in a long time. :iono:

The original concept was WRB II but that color didn't make it to production. The current WRX and the BRZ use the same paint color.

From everything I can find it seems that Mica = Pearl in the US market and no one knows why.

CoryUyede 05-14-2012 02:56 AM

Having the Pleasure of Owning one myself, I can tell you that the World Rally Blue always shows up LIGHTER in photos than it truly is. My WRX is VERY metallic..sometimes there's almost hint of violet in it under the right light. Oh, and Post #5, I can say those Photos have spot on Color Accuracy for what the WRB truly is.

As for the WRB Pearl and WRB Mica. The Mica is for Europe and Japan, Here I honestly hear Both names listed randomly, Seems US calls it MICA, Canada calls it pearl. They have the SAME color code "02C", the BRZ as well.

Subaru has their "trademark" blue, But in reality, they've got a few blues. I swear everytime I see a WRB in person, each one looks a little different than the last..lol

WRB Pearl, WRB Mica, a few Versions of Sonic Blue , 555 blue+blue ridge pearl (both darker but similar to each other) . All of them are Considered trademark subaru blue ;)
