Corsa cat back owners

Who is running a Corsa cat back? Anyone running one with a header? I really am loving the sound of the Corsa, and plan on getting the Nameless front/over pipe with cat and helmholz too. Eventually I want to add an EL header, probably catless. My concern is volume. I know that Corsa is respected for lack of drone, but how will the header affect that? Does anyone have experience or knowledge of Corsa with a header? I just don't want to get too loud. Obviously I could go with Perrin or Q300, I know. Please don't reply with recommendations of what I could go with, I have searched, and read, and am well informed of available options. I want to know about Corsa. Thanks! :thanks:

I honestly haven't heard of anyone who has bought this exhaust yet. The only one I know of who has it is the guy who had the prototype on his car and just got the production version a couple weeks ago.

I am not sure if he is on this forum but here is a post he put up on facebook:

So I ordered this system online over the weekend. It should be here on Wednesday. I ordered from Maryland Speed. They have an additional $30 off deal right now, it brought the delivered price to $817.xx. Not too bad for this system. They have great prices and exceptionally fast shipping.

I can't wait for the write up!

Just listened to the YouTube clips and love how different it sounds. I have similar plans for future header, etc. so I can't wait to read your write up!

You have any other exhaust mods?

Not yet. I have a daughter in college and a son at a math and science high school. He lives there, as it is 180 miles away. I pay some serious tuition and other expenses. It really slows down all of the plans I have for my car.

Jerf, I bought a Corsa cat back and installed it two weeks ago. Will you be running it with a header, or just the cat back? BTW i am in love with the exhaust sound now. i just noticed you are supercharged, would love to hear this when done.

53Driver 03-14-2014 02:26 PM

I had Corsa catbacks on my Shelby GT500. The sound was incredible, especially when you came on the throttle hard. Normal idle and cruising speeds they were great with no drone. I listened to a lot of systems and ultimately went with the Corsa on my GT500 because nothing else compared to them at the time (I know this is subjective). I can't speak for the BRZ/FR-S catback system as I don't have one (yet), but my experience with their systems on my GT500 tells me you should be pleased as their quality and sound are top notch.

The exhaust is good and broken in now, and I love it. Everybody that hears it comments on it. I get strangers telling me to "rev it so I can hear it", and my wife and family love it. My wife says that it sounds like it "shoulda" when you bought the car. And it isn't noisy at all at highway speeds, unless you mash the go pedal all the way. I'm 100% satisfied with my choice, Corsa did not disappoint!

Well the important thing is you're happy! Now you'll just need to get a video up of how it sounds. ;)

DAN_BRZ 03-14-2014 05:29 PM

Post a sound clip if u can

NLSP 03-14-2014 11:43 PM

+1 for more clips from the owners.

This exhaust is at the top of my list. I considered the Tomei 60S before, but it's too loud (local autocross regulation), looks immature, and loses the OEM fat-muffler design (loss in aerodynamics). The Corsa seems perfect for me; not too loud, retains OEM-like muffler, and tasteful looking tips.

Audio clip? Exhaust setup?

twag4 03-15-2014 01:53 AM

This is the day I installed the Corsa catback.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ighlight=corsa

I think it sounds better now.
My exhaust setup is just the catback for now. I will post some additional videos or sound clips when I can. Probably not this weekend, too busy.

unsurety 03-29-2014 01:35 PM

bump

Anyone have a Corsa catback with an UEL header? My ideal setup would be a catted UEL header (FT86SF, pending owner feedback), 2.5" overpipe to prevent drone, and Corsa. Would love to hear how that sounds!

btw, that setup would be a complete replacement of the factory exhaust system, right?

unfortunately not. You would still be missing the front pipe. I would recommend the nameless catted OP/FP combo with helmholtz resonator. The resonator usually removes all drone.

This was exactly what I was considering actually. Combined with the Corsa, I imagine it would sound amazingly clean. The FR-S exhaust is confusing... especially since I can't find a clear underbody picture of the Corsa.

Exhaust noob here, I thought this exhaust comes with a mid pipe, etc.

NLSP 05-25-2014 05:47 PM

The top 2 pieces make up the mid-pipe.

unsurety 06-19-2014 02:46 PM

Anyone have an update as far as how it sounds with a header?

Alberto_HTX 07-28-2014 02:44 AM

So is the Corsa cat back sold on autoplicity.com the same one from ft86speedfactory.com. The part numbers and descriptions are the same just the pictures are different. Can't wait to join the Corsa Club

k_w 07-29-2014 04:29 AM

I have a Corsa exhaust and love it. Took it to Laguna Seca and passed sound on a 90 db day, so it's pretty quiet. My GoPro did a horrible job of collecting anything but wind noise, so no sound clips yet, sorry. I'm running it with stock everything else, motor wise.

tinma 07-29-2014 09:08 AM

Here is a soundclip i did....its pretty terrible :P I didnt let the idle drop all the way before i rev'd it again....and for some reason at the end there is a ringing noise....but at least its something! lol

Everything is stock except the catback

id like to hear a soundclip with some1 having the corsa with a front pipe. :)

cdrazic93 07-31-2014 03:32 PM

Waiting for a full header back exhaust with the nameless OP/FP helmholtz combo sound clip.

this is literally the exact setup im looking for, down to the T.

I'm already happy with my Corsa. Only had a slight issue with alignment. The passenger side tip sticks out 1/4" further than the driver's. It was even worse before I loosened everything up and adjusted it. Might have been better if I had another person to hold things in place. Anyone else have this problem?

I ordered a front pipe but there were some delivery issues. I had to do a work around - should have that within a couple of weeks.

Also recently ordered an Openflash header, that'll be 1.5-2 months unfortunately. But once that's almost here, I'll order an OP as well. And there will be sound clips.

I'm running the Nameless catted pipe with a helmholtz resonator too. It probably removes the drone on majority of the exhausts... For me it slightly reduced the drone on my evo 3 with JDL UEL headers:lol:

cdrazic93 10-21-2014 01:49 AM

bump for audio clips?

momo3605 02-11-2015 09:39 PM

bump! Any update on sound with header? I have the catback only and love the exhaust note as is!

dem00n 02-11-2015 09:43 PM

I'll be ordering one in the summer as well. Should sound good with the ft86 catted header and the front pipe with the high flow cat.

Would love to see pictures of it with the black tips if anyone has any.
