I can't wait!

hmong337 02-05-2014 12:25 PM

Preparing for some getting stuck stories lol. It's damn nasty outside.

drewbot 02-05-2014 12:30 PM

I worked from home in the morning so I would not need to drive with all the other sheep.

The snow in Hamilton was much worse than Oakville, and add on the drifting snow onto the roads. Didn't get stuck or bullied around by half assed plowed roads. However, had some ass-clenching experiences mounting the on-ramp's pile of snow.

If we don't see a GoPro view of a 720* donut in a parking lot, I will be disappointed.

Your wish is my command.

Office closed early today - guess what I'll be doing :burnrubber:

I never worry about my own car and how it handles, the BRZ just requires a light throttle, light steering, and low speeds. I worry about the 4x4 SUV's driving up my chuff, and I know they'll be sliding into me if I have to slow down. Also, when they decide to change lanes on the highway while going 110 and spin out, that's always fun to have to dodge them.

I see more SUV up agains the barriers and in the ditches than any other type of vehicle.

Kazuya 02-05-2014 01:57 PM

Went to work from Victoria park to Keele/401. Recapping....

I went VSC for that 3 inch of fresh white death snow, car was sideways at 20/km on local to 401, trucks stop giving a fuck and just drove on whatever lanes, I was cruising at 40 at best. 404/401 ramp uphill to 401 bayview, that has got to be the scariest climb of my life, car throttle was stuck at 21/km, VSC off and I am about 30 degree sideways while climbing, cars around me gtfo quick when they see me rolling. Other than that, my drive was predictable and definitely manageable. However, I am now stuck at my work parking lot because I can't get up that hill where employees park. FML.

mkivalex 02-05-2014 02:06 PM

Drive from Hamilton to Burlington wasn't TOO bad this morning, I'm sure the drive home is going to suck balls.

7thgear 02-05-2014 02:10 PM

my wife just told me her bus, while full of people, was rolling back going up a hill unable to get traction :o

rb123 02-05-2014 02:18 PM

made it simple

worked from home

graemedesign 02-05-2014 02:32 PM

Think I will sit this one out and work from home....

Took the TTC :'(

My bus had trouble finding traction loll I can't imagine what our cars would be like. Tomorrow will be a fun day :)

daiheadjai 02-05-2014 02:41 PM

I'm lucky - I live only about 20km from work.
Took the DVP - it really lived up to the "parking lot" sobriquet.
BUT - it was not that bad - I got up to about 70kph once the traffic opened up (stayed in the beaten tracks).

I had the nannies disabled - as long as you are gentle with your inputs, it is fine.
Definitely recommend leaving a comfy pair of driving shoes in the car though.

Was only about 10-15 min late.

Kazuya 02-05-2014 03:26 PM

About to drive home, highway has reduced traffic but more a snow covered now. Wish me luck! Hopefully I won't be the first victim of this storm.

wparsons 02-05-2014 03:35 PM

I tried to get into my office today, after about 2 hours and not making it 1/3rd of the way I gave up and drove home. It wasn't an easy drive, but definitely not scary (minus the Ram 4x4 that spun out RIGHT behind me).

Went out to grab lunch, had no issues plowing through the snow, but it sure wasn't a fast drive. At one point I was basically just up shifting and letting the car idle itself forward until I hit 4th.

drewbot 02-05-2014 03:49 PM

My car looks like it's riding on an air suspension with this ground clearance.

Makes you think twice about even running lowering springs.

You guys know how to put on a proper winter. We mostly just get cold, not much snow.

Honestly I've lived in southern Ontario for 18 years and this is the most snow I've ever seen here. Cold, about average, but snow has been unbelievable.

(I grew up in northern Ontario where my 6ft high backyard fence disappeared every winter, so while this is quite a bad winter, it's nothing unmanageable.)

You only missed those crazy snowfalls by a few years, it was way worse back in the early 90's in the GTA.

We sympathize with you all :D

We got our fair share today.

Didn't even think about going to work today. Spring can't come to soon!

I feel your pain right below the border.

Should've worked at home today. They've been plowing all day and the snow is still higher than my car. I think I'm stuck at work. Meanwhile, that snow mountain in the back is getting higher while the size of our parking lot is getting smaller...

Yup as I thought I am the first victim.

Hit a parked truck while trying to climb a hill.

Any suggestions for a shop? =\

EDIT: First picture shows the amount of snow i was dealing with before i hit the hill climb.

7thgear 02-05-2014 07:02 PM

how bad is the damage? I've been driving with a bent QP for over a year.

Did you do the right thing or just leave the poor guy with a damaged car?

My family owns the lot, the owner is a good customer/friend of ours and his truck had no visible damage, he just slapped my back and said "cute car".

YangerD 02-05-2014 07:17 PM

Oh lucky you :P

Why?

I'm lowered on KW Coilovers and made it to work and back just fine. At work for 7:45am, left at 5pm. They plowed our lot once and left over a foot in front of my car. But never fear, the RWD sports coupe is here! :burnrubber:

I am impressed with you guys that drive in this stuff. I guess it's all what you're used to. Yet I remain impressed and commend you guys on getting the 86 out in those conditions. Love it!

Amazing those go pros. One has been found here at the bottom of a fairly deep stretch of sea. It had been there for 5 years after being lost by a wake boarder and the memory card still had the video in perfect order.

The same DupliColor touch up pen is actually less than 10 bucks at Crappy Tire if you can find the color. I've seen the spray can too for 15 bucks if that's what you mean.

You can cross MS Auto off the list for a good shop for re-sprays, they had to spray my friend's DC5 fender 3 times and it still came out wrong (and they were dissing the BASF paint system saying they use more superior stuff pffff).

One time I went to Royfoss GM dealer to re-spray the hatch for my old GTI, BASF paint system to match the VW factory stuff and it came out amazingly good, $500 bucks well spent.
