Who has debadged their Scion FR-S?
Who here has debadged their Scion FR-S and replaced it with a Toyota emblem, and why?
I'm just curious and thought this would be an interesting discussion. Personally, I don't have any plans on debadging mine, as I have a 10 series and the emblem illuminates. |
I'll summarize what will be posted on the next 10 pages.
Toyota Emblem Guy: I feel like the car should have been here as a Toyota and/or Scion is a brand everyone hates Scion Emblem Guy: I don't care, only people who rebadge have an inferiority complex 10 Series guy with Scion Emblems: I don't care because the badge illuminates and/or it's too much work to swap out 10 Series/Monogram guy with Toyota Emblems: All I want is the GT86 BRZ guy: LOL look at all these people going crazy. This is in no means to offend anyone, this is what I've read in the last 10 threads that had 20 pages each on this topic. |
I did.
Two reasons: The toyota badge looks cleaner imo. and Everywhere in the world is a Toyota |
OK ..... discussion.
I like the Scion badge; I think it looks crisp and modern. I think the Toyota badge looks heavy and ugly, like a bloated "brand" from a Texas steer .... :eyebulge: |
I've considered it, however to do it correctly one must change the badge on the steering wheel. Not worth the extra $ imo!

Talk about a lot of money spent on something so frivolous.
To those with short memories the Toyota logo makes you think of old guy Camry, ugly Matrix, slow Prius, lady bug arsed Solara, and wannabe Lexus Avalon while those with longer memories think of the glory years with the Supra, Celica, and MR2. |

I debadged mine last weekend and put the GT-86 logo on the back I'm running with no make emblems right now but I'm debating on putting toyota ones back on.. I will say however the goop on the FRONT of the car is near impossible to get off. Been running a week with it still on rofl.. I even have goo gone and a heat gun that shit is like crazy strong. Gonna figure out something soon to get it off then I'll probably put the toyota emblems on front and rear.
|
I think the Toyota badge looks like a chrome uterus.
|
Because there is nothing Scion about the damn car. The tC took over the Celica so it was a Toyota all around. The only Scion I know of is the xA,xB, and the other small piece shit they make. And yes, Toyota ultimately makes those vehicles. Yet they are original designs for the Scion Brand. The Celica was simply rebranded as a Scion in my opinion and the name changed to tC (touring coupe). The tC was given the 2.4L Camry engine with VVTi. Not the bad ass 1.8L VVTi-L engine from the Celica GT-S.
P.S. For those that didn't know...the 1.8L engine from the Celica GT-S was used in the Lotus Elise R and Lotus Elise SC (supercharged edition). The Elise reminds of what a modern MR2 would look like. Toyota is everywhere. You can't get away from it so just accept it. lol. Back to the topic of discussion, haha! |
I'm looking for Moskvitch badges, but OP said "debadge" as in none.

I think some of you clowns would rebadge an LFA because it's a Toyota.

My title says Toyota:D...and that is enough for me. |
This is how it went for me:
Step 1) Paint scion emblem. Step 2) Paint won't stick to emblem. Repeat steps 1 & 2 Step 3) Modify emblem Step 4) Hate modification Step 5) Didn't want to buy new scion emblems, so bought Toyota emblems Seem to match the car a little better anyways. |
JDM yo! I'm looking for front and rear Toyota badges, actually.
|
Everyone knows you get +5whp when you switch to Toyota...

I haven't debadged, but if I did ..... Toy GT86 all the way. Scion has no history. No racing heritage. Nada. The car should have been a GT86 from day 1.
|
I have Subaru and Toyota under my hood, and Scion all over the exterior. If I could narrow it down to 2 badges it would be great. I will switch it to Toyota badges so I don't have to explain to people that it's half Toyota half Subaru and sold under Scion.....I just confused myself thinking about it.
|
I can use the money for other things. People still don't know what this car is. All they know that it looks fast. People just break their necks and always say it look great. And all I know is that it mine. I love my car.

Debaging?
Have read the threads and wondering is JUST taking the badge off that much of a pain. I ask because I was thinking of doing a black out badge.
|
I asked in another thread but since this one got bumped, I may as well ask in here. Does the front bumper emblem get removed just like the rear? I just ordered some emblems and all the DIY's I see are of the rear one only.
|
If you just wanted to completely take off the badges and leave it all blank, does that look tacky? Are holes exposed so it looks scrubby?

I ended up using a small pair of scissors and microfiber cloth to break the neck of the pin. Quote:

Thats the exact same thing I said to my self. After a while I realized I would rather have the scion emblem than a chrome uterus. |

Sorry, you are utterly misinformed. • The gen1 xB was the Toyota bB in Japan long before it made to the US; it was exported to the USDM not "an original design by Toyota for the Scion brand". This iteration continues today in the JDM as the bB, although the gen2 xB in USDM isn't even made by Toyota and universally lauded as a swing-and-a-miss. • The xA (no longer manufactured) and the xD are both the Toyota Ist; JDM vehicles exported to the USDM not "an original design by Toyota for Scion brand". • The tC is a bit more complicated. It was a Celica replacement, but it isn't unique. It extensively platform shares with the existing Toyota Avensis, which predates it. So, not exactly "an original design by Toyota for Scion brand" though not a wholly original JDM Toyota. • I am assuming by "other small piece of shit" you are referencing the iQ, which is the only other vehicle in the lineup. This vehicle was never designed with USDM in mind, and in fact the only substantive change between the JDM market and the USDM import is the badge... and the fact other markets get a manual transmission. So, in fact, the iQ is the antithesis of "an original design by Toyota for Scion brand". Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

/shrug It shouldn't be too hard if you want to glue it back on. I ended up breaking off the tabs on the front one somehow but that's fine you could always use new sticky crap to get it back on |
