JDL UEL + OpenFlash Tablet Stage 2 + Tomei Type 80

= :D

what a change these things make

Install
basic and straight forward. take the old pieces off, put the new ones on. nuts and bolts and ratchets and spanners. load up a stage 2 tune and flash it. easy stuff no hiccups. probably 2 hour-ish total

Initial Impressions
from before (all stock exhaust except a perrin overpipe) to after (JDL UEL, perrin overpipe, stock front pipe, tomei type 80)
big change in sound, finally sounds like a subie, alot more vibrations, a little bit of drone, really bassy, deep. liveable while crusing, WOT it just screams especially past 5k. can feel more torque where the dip used to be. i wouldnt say it fixed the dip but it definitely improved it. top end pulls slightly better than stock, no crazy difference. butt dyno is impressed

from before to after flash
didnt bother with stage 1 went straight to stage 2. WOW big transformation. whole rpm range feels smoother, no hesitation when slamming on the gas, more throttle response, downshifts just seem to snap into place. the power, oh man. top end compared to before tune pulls harder and wants to rev out. revving out 3rd gear feels like stock 2nd gear. Mid range has so much more torque. breaks traction with alot less effort sideways and straight (im on fairly sticky 245s). compared to stock, its like a different engine. butt dyno is happy

Conclusion
worth the money. changed the way the car drives and sounds completely. thanks to @shiv@vishnu and @JDLAutoDesign and Tomei for making quality parts

to me the tune looks solid. AFR looks a little rich but better rich than a hitch. maybe someone with more experience can analyze it and spot something

That sounds excellent!!! How much drone do you have?

the drone isnt bad at all. cruising with a light foot you can just hear the exhaust. although engine braking between 2k-3k you can really feel the exhaust pulses through the firewall and can get irritating

I might have to get myself a 60s, hopefully that won't be too loud. These titanium exhausts are too sexy to pass up! you should make a longer video of the Tomei!

akahenry 02-03-2014 03:18 AM

Sexy ass combo bro! I know video clips don't do justice of the orgasmic sound of your setup, but is there a possibility that you do like a drive by sound clip or video?! For instance, perhaps a friend can record you while you drive by or launch the car. I'd really like to listen to the rumble haha.

Carlitoz3 02-03-2014 06:49 AM

Sick

MAPerformance 02-03-2014 10:56 AM

Man, that sounds soooo good. You did well on that combo. More driving vids!

You should post the videos, on your Instagram ....I work offshore, on an oil rig, in the Gulf of Mexico. The company I work for, has blocked Youtube...They have not blocked Instagram, yet. I'd really appreciate it. Please shoot me a PM, on here, when and if you do post them to Instagram...Thanks.

Car sounds awesome! I cannot wait for my UEL headers!

One suggestion on the LC though, I did a full day of tweaking it to be the right RPM and I found that just around 4000 RPMs was the best. Granted im running stock tires, with EL stage 2 E85 (stock headers). The best launch (for my preference anyways) is when the needle doesn't move up OR down when clutch is dumped.

If you need help on any of the parameter changes, go ahead and send me a PM and I will try to help you out. It honestly took me an entire day to figure it out! :P

the video was my first time trying launch control. I have it set to 3600rpm now (4000 delta). I agree the best launch is when your at the limits of adhesion. normally I would modulate the throttle to keep wheelspin at the minimum but that new soft rev limiter just sounds so good!

Sounds absolutely amazing....Have you dynoed it yet ? What gas are you running ? I have been contemplating on going to a 3" exhaust or at least a single exit...
I know that Honda's K-series does very well N/A, on a 3" exhaust...Because I have a '92 Civic hatch, with a 2005 K20A Integra type-r motor in it...It put down 231 hp and 168 tq, with only an intake, header, custom tuned Hondata K-Pro, and 3" exhaust...I am very curious to see what these engines can do, on a 3" exhaust.

GTHachiRoku 02-04-2014 10:49 AM

Awesome setup. I'm going for the JDL UEL headers and OFT. Any idea how this setup would sound with a muffler delete? I imagine way too loud.

Sounds like you got it under control! That thing sounds amazing. :)

Way too loud, the bad kind of loud.

Boofneenee 02-04-2014 12:15 PM

That setup is pure sex. I cant wait for my headers to arrive. I cant wait any longer! I got the OFH and im pumped. I am worried about the sound of my setup with my current exhaust but will figure it out. You single exhaust pipe looks orgasmic. That header is.... Amazing

The shape of this car reminds me very much of the supra. With that single pipe exhaust it only looks more so

DarkSunrise 02-04-2014 07:41 PM

Sounds great. Bassy, deep, rumbly.

Don't expect k20 numbers.

StormTrooper 02-05-2014 12:03 AM

Unless i missed something, the k20 doesn't produce anywhere near 186tq.....

JHarperFRS 02-05-2014 09:21 AM

i am sorry i meant to type 168 tq.

FR-S Matt 02-05-2014 09:49 AM

These engines on a 3" exhaust make your ears bleed N/A.

JHarperFRS 02-05-2014 10:03 AM

@FR-S Matt Look up EGK20AHatch, user name, on YouTube...Got a few videos, of my Civic hatch...loud, but sounds good.

Sorry @andrew5826 I didn't intend to thread jack. I was wanting/needing to see some dyno numbers, before I decide to buy one of these exhaust.

andrew5826 02-16-2014 11:11 PM

Mirko 03-19-2014 11:54 AM

I have been offered to trade my Invidia Q300 for a Tomei type 80. I also have jdl uel headers, jdl overpipe, jdl catted front pipe and oft stage 2. My setup is not loud enough, but should I switch to the tomei? the guy does not want his anymore because he says noise and drone are just unbearable... and he is running with stock headers.
How loud is this? Painfully loud or "good" loud? Cant tell from videos..

andrew5826 03-19-2014 01:39 PM

liveable loud. I bought ear plugs 2 weeks into this setup thinking it might start damaging my hearing but I rarely use them. I've had a q300 before and.going from a quiet exhaust to a loud one is a big jump. but what's too loud for one person may not be loud enough for another

Don't think this has been asked, but are you still running the stock over and front pipes? So, the only exhaust modifications being the header and t80?

You can do 200 on 93 octane with a JDL UEL, full exhaust, and a drop in filter / decent CAI. The header responds insanely well to timing adjustments. Very happy with my tune right now. I feel all kinds of power since I had someone ACTUALLY tune it more than FA20crap. I also cannot wait to put my car on the dyno and actually go for 200 whp. I really think I am there, but I am being pretty optimistic.
