Got a chance to play around with my BRZ last night on the dyno. Current mods are stock header with cat delete - 3" overpipe/downpipe, Tomei 80mm catback and a drop in K&N filter. Tuning was done on E85 using BRZedit. I just wanted to see what kind of gains I could get from this platform before building my turbo kit. Must say I am impressed so far with the output from just a few bolt on pieces.

Very very nice, not sure how much spent but I would think still cheaper than a supercharger and with better gains.

DAEMANO 02-02-2014 09:34 AM

@TopSpeed can you elaborate on your cat delete process? This is relevant to my interests :)

DBW 02-02-2014 10:12 AM

I didn't take any pictures of the mod but, I cut off the cat in the factory header then welded a piece of 3" oval to round transition. I will take some pics next week when I start building my turbo kit.

Ugh, really wished they hadn't banned E85 in STX class this year...

DBW 02-02-2014 08:04 PM

Are all fuels banned? @dwx

xwd 02-02-2014 08:09 PM

Up to 104 octane is still legal for this year, but there is a proposal out to ban anything over 95. It may not go through just because they don't have a good way to really test fuel in autocross... it's not like road racing with fuel ports or anything.

The gains people were getting with the BRZ/FR-S was one of the main reasons the E85 ban was proposed last year and passed. E85 is still legal in the SP, SM, and above classes, just not legal in Stock or ST anymore.

Oh man.... hot ticket will be to run C85 then. Its not banned and will make more power then the e85

Good to see you tuning the zn6/zc6 chassis Doug. Do you plan on making any trips to the Midwest anytime soon?

@TopSpeed whats your preffered tuning software now that you are boosted? Still brzedit?

Carlitoz3 03-01-2014 09:42 AM

Just shy of 220 na!
That's my future goal.
Wonder if an aftermarket el catless header would do the trick...

Freshfrs86 03-17-2014 08:27 PM

Good stuff there! @TopSpeed

JS + BRZ 03-17-2014 08:30 PM

Great stuff man.

Um? He's still about 60whp short of me...

Colominicano 04-30-2014 04:18 AM

With that same setup, what would one expect to make running on Premium 93?? 195+whp or just at about 200whp?

He WAS short...now he's running a custom turbo kit with nearly 500hp on the stock bottom end. :p

Nice!

Wow, and with a reasonable baseline to. I'd love to see what would happen if I did the same to the reader but ran it with 91.
