Overpipe?????????? Over Here! OverWHAT?

i need some opinions on overpipes.
quick info about my brz....

Ecutek tune, 3pc pulley kit, injen intake,
AP headers, STOCK OVERPIPE, and a full 2.75in J2 exhaust w/ downpipe.

so i feel like thats my bottle neck right there. i want an overpipe.

Which overpipe should i get?
im not looking to spend that much $$$
i saw the dc sports overpipe but it is not even 2.5in (no thanks)

ive been looking at the tsudo overpipe. i think its 2.5in

any suggestions? and dont tell me to get different headers... just need to know about overpipes.

i want every pinch of NA power i can get. what else can i do for more power besides a bigger tb? (no e85 either)
any suggestions on an overpipe?

NYCsubaruBRZ 01-31-2014 05:38 AM

anyone else?

Carlitoz3 01-31-2014 05:46 AM

MotivConcepts seem very highly regarded.

Perrin is very well made I've been running it since 1 week after I bought my car.

I may buck the trend here, but I wouldn't bother. You'll gain almost nothing by adding an OP. A local tuner to me tested it out on the dyno on a car with an otherwise full system and made absolutely no gains over the OEM piece.

while i understand that.... it just bothers me to know that there is a tiny bit of stock exhaust haha. and maybe i wont notice it. i prob wont, but its still a stock exhaust part its gotta gooooooooooo. and i want every pinch of NA power i can get. what else can i do for more power besides a bigger tb? JDL has a 3" overpipe. I think there's someone who makes a 2.75" overpipe as well.... can't remember the name.

If you want every bit of na power, ditch the AP header, Fairly sure that header showed little to no gains over the stock manifold. Also do the over pipe at the same time.

I'd recommend this one for the Evo setup then.

BRZ? 01-31-2014 09:02 AM

Invidia makes an overpipe at a very reasonable price

JHarperFRS 01-31-2014 09:33 AM

I've got Perrin.

Stock is 2.118 inch tubing. I am not kidding with the decimal places.

glad i asked... thanks snooze

i was under the impression that stock was 2.5in tubing
so 2.5in tubing should be more than enough flow for NA cars

i might get the dc sports overpipe i believe it is 2.25in inlet & 2.5in outlet

This is a good side by side comparison of the OEM part on top and the PERRIN 2.5" prototype on the bottom. The factory part is made from 2.118" OD tubing (like the rest of the exhaust) and has a couple of really sharp bends along with an area with a big crimp. The PERRIN part we made is 2.5" tubing and smooth mandrel bends.
