This Idiot bumped me!

1 Attachment(s)
So I decided to drive through Times Square around 1 am to see all the Super Bowl stuff. As I'm sitting on the light I get hard bump. I went into attack mode get out the car and notice the other driver was an older man (around 60) so I calmed down.

No damage to bumper, it looks like his license plate bumper protector made contact with the black plastic below the bumper and left salt residue/scratch on the plastic.

This is the man

If you dress up as an old man like Knoxville, and beat the wrinkles out of him, is it slightly more moral?

FRSure 01-30-2014 03:40 PM

Well... Lucky you didn't get rear ended hard like me.. :(

dem00n 01-30-2014 04:49 PM

He's from Connecticut, what do you expect?

NWFRS 01-30-2014 05:54 PM

My wife's car was dinted a few days ago when four hobos climbed into the car beside me and threw their door wide. It took me a few heartbeats to realize there was no point in even exiting the car. They looked like they had been sleeping for weeks in the same clothes under a bridge somewhere. They looked in their 40's and weak. At best they would have mumbled something and left. At worst they would have eaten me. So I did nothing. :-(

Well, lag48st, I'm glad you got off with just a "bump".

That old fool from Connecticut should have toured Times Square the way I used to when I was a middle aged, fool living in Connecticut.

Take the electric train from Stamford into Grand Central Station and then take a cab ..... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...mages/sigh.gif

@dem00n I loved the oh shit. You knew something was coming LMFAOO

iag48st 01-30-2014 09:14 PM

He didn't leave, he just rolled down his window and practically didn't say anything as I assessed my bumper. There was no damage besides that mark on the black part below the bumper and therefore I didn't call the police. Just grateful he didn't damage/chip my bumper.

Age doesn't really matter to me.
The car is your property and it's not like it was a light tap. People need to respect others, regardless of age.

Other than that, glad you're alright, glad the car is alright.
@Turbo95eg6
I'd be more laughing if I ran (no pun intended) into him. All ya'll seem like cool cats. That pic did make me laugh though,so thanks.

As I was walking back from the store to my car, an older man (in his 60's) in the back seat of a car parked next to mine opened his door a little too wide and too fast and hit the side of my car. He had this "Oh shit!" look on his face. I simply waved and smiled at him and said not to worry about it. I checked my car later on and there wasn't a scratch. Shit happens...

Nah, back in the day, when I would go into NYC, I'd leave my "carry" in Connecticut. The folks in NYC don't much hanker to handguns.....:(

Story time:

Back in the day, my younger brother was visiting us in Connecticut. Since he was in the produce business he wanted to visit some of his distributors at Hunts point in the South Bronx. We decided to drive down. He said he had heard it was a rough area, should we arm ourselves.

I explained that we couldn't take handguns into NYC, but he should grab a good feeling club off the woodpile near my driveway. On our way down, driving through a part of the South Bronx, he commented it looked like a war zone.

After we entered the guarded produce distribution point and he finished his business, we headed out. The gate guard waived us over and had us stop. He said wait for a semi-tractor trailer, so you can "draft" him out to get up onto the expressway. (Do you know where this is going?)

Yep, a lot of the times the truckers got paid in cash for their produce and the bad guys knew it. So, once they left the safety of the compound, the streets were signaled such they didn't have to stop on their way to the expressway.

So, stick behind the big rigs AND DON'T STOP.

My brother ask, what the hell are the clubs for .. ??

I told him they were for poking the bad guys in the face if they tried to get inside the car.....:D

Trus story ....... sorry for the flashback ..... :paddle:

Hey.. I take exception to that he's 60 so he's an old man remark..
Lol.. That was nice of you not being too hard on the old dude..
Cause someday you will be 60 too !!
I'm from NY, was born and lived there for many years... Public transportation is the only way to go in the big apple.. Let the cabbies fight it out in the city.. Not worth the risk..

 ...... well, I'm over 70 years old ..... ..... but, I'm not grumpy ..... and I can't drink beer anymore (since about 18 years ago, when I tried to drink up all the whisky in North America), so, I don't have that excuse ....

I've often said, after listening to some old coot tell stories about stealing buggy whips, that if I ever get THAT old ....., someone just shoot me .... :paddle:

I have been debating on driving through NYC on my "Drive across North America" plans but I just absolutely hate driving in NYC (I've been there for work).

But they trade-in their cars for street legal golf carts and use those for going to Wal-Mart.

Yep, a true story ..... happened back in the mid 70's.

Wanna hear about the time my rental car ran out of gas (during the gas shortage) at night, in Watts (LA) shortly after the Watts riots ..... I thought not ..... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...illy_nilly.gif
