It's not a subbie,

But maybe you guys love them just as much as we do.

Me and a buddy went to Japan last year to bring some JDM goodies over to the US.

We got our hands on a lot of swaps, front cuts, some jdm bling. With that, we even decided to spoil ourselves a little with a R33 GTR and R34 GTR.

We are finally done with freshening up my buddies R33 GTR. Got it lowered on some custom wheels, tripple disc clutch, Tomei Tune, and a bunch of other goodies.

We will be working on freshening up the R34 GTR next (but not till after the BRZ grows a snail ).

Big plans for this beast. Right now its in its original form awaiting a few parts before we get it on the streets. Once we are able to feel out the factory specs, we plan on making it into something that will decimate all after, "...after we put about fifteen grand in it or more. If we have to, overnight parts from Japan. .."

on to the pics !!

Nope. Started our own importing company a while back. After years of research, we figured we import our own container and voila -

So the DOT knows about these cars? They properly registered for the street?

You crashed several examples?

thehapaone 01-29-2014 08:21 PM

but...but...I thought R34s were banned in the US if only I had the money to get one here legally :( I would kill someone for that car

wlwarfield 01-29-2014 08:27 PM

What's the name of your company?

Haha, honestly didn't see this thread turning into an interview - we have them here clean and clear, and I'll gladly help out fellow enthusiast that are interested in importing one. Just shoot me a pm or email me info@brztuned.com

Just out of curiosity how much does a R34 GTR run to import legally? and how do you get around the whole crash rating thing to get them legal where the Feds won't crush them?

P.S. I love your Lightning Red BRZ on CCWs!

There's no getting around crash testing. To bring them here, you do have to be an registered importer, have a bond, paper work, inspections, the works. The r34 gtr will average about 100k - again, feel free to just email me

And thanks! At first I was meh about the brz. I jumped out of a s2000 into this and right away notice how much it lacked power. But the stability of it after we did some suspension work to it has me content for now

Captain Insano 01-29-2014 09:21 PM

Beautiful cars man. Pretty awesome if you have them legally street registered.

MeFryRice 01-29-2014 09:27 PM

Until someone is willing to buy at least two of the same chassis for crash testing purposes, these can't be federal legal, not only state legal. You may get it to pass state and obtain a title for the car doesn't mean the Feds wouldn't be able to confiscate them at their will. A few years ago the Feds were cracking down on these cars hardcore and they gave you a couple options, one having the car crushed or have it exported. I've looked into importing them a couple years ago but spending that kind of money then one day the car would be gone. Eh, I'll pass.

Brztuned 01-29-2014 09:36 PM

I've read all that too

LBC Por Siempre 01-29-2014 09:49 PM

As a country to source imports, England can get ridiculously cheap sometimes! Then again depends on what you're looking for. Didn't they get the T34 too?

Glad the E-lawyers arent trolling you.

Both cars look great. Nice job with the imports, turns out the grass is always greener on the other side.

Same here. I jumped from a 2002 AP1 to my 2013 BRZ!

1086 01-29-2014 10:09 PM

How much was each car?

bakerr6 01-29-2014 10:22 PM

I'll get one as soon as they are legal due to age. Nice looking cars!

This and This.

Even if you can somehow fool your local DMV into registering the car, that doesn't mean it's considered legal by NHTSA and the EPA. I'm going to cry a little when the Feds crush these cars...

An old friend of mine watched an R34 get crushed for this very reason. The owner had spent quite a bit getting it stateside. And mods. And then the feds knocked on his door, and didn't give a damn that he had a state tag for it...
