Would love to blame someone for this, but I guess it was meant to happen - one of these freak accidents I guess :iono:

This afternoon in Midrand, a stone or something from the hedge trimmer came flying along and smacked my passenger window, while I was driving by. Good news is that smash and grab works, bad news is that the window will need replacing. Guess I'm gonna find out tomorrow how long parts for the GT86 take to arrive. Luckily nothing besides the window glass was damaged.

Will also be interesting to see how insurance does this - technically it's glass only damage so I need to go to PG/Glasfit, but the parts will probably need to come from Toyota. Just wondering who/where my car will stand by - certainly not going to leave it standing at PG/Glasfit...

This happened to my car... but it was mainly the side of the car that go rocked over the glass..... was a bitch.... floor it past people on the side now....

LOL - the "shattered" pattern does look cool. Maybe I started a new JDM trend to counter the Euro rust look :D

Update Moe? Do you know if they have stock yet?

Waiting on PG glass Fourways. Will know more by tomorrow how long it will take - either way insurance will cover it under glass damage claim only.

Got an estimate from PG Glass on 3-5 day delivery expected from Toyota.

Is this window tinted? Surprised to see it not fall apart since it's tempered glass.

It's got LLumar smash and grab tint on it, which is holding the glass pieces together.

Always the first thing I do when getting a new car. Helped a lot when I got T-boned on the driver's side a couple of years ago.

My 86 is my first car with smash and grab tint.
It wasn't actually my choice - the dealer offered it as a gift, and I said "ja well no fine - not a big deal, go for it".
I never knew what I was missing - I really like it. :w00t: A lot!!

Hell yes!! Cooler interior, less sun on your skin plus added safety. Win-win.

For those interested quick update: Glass was fixed today.

Just a word of caution if anyone needs to do this. NEVER deal with PG FOURWAYS - they are utterly useless :mad0260:

I spent 2 weeks trying to deal with them and get feedback, after the initial "it will take 3-5 day estimate". I called them at least 20 times in the last 2 weeks, but they simply do not give you feedback or even call you back. Last Friday, I escalated through PG call centre, got the claim transferred to PG in Sandton. Got a call from PG Sandton on Friday morning - they informed me it would be 3 working days to get the glass from Toyota. They called this morning and sorted today.

So 2 thumbs up to PG Sandton. 3 working days to get it :thumbup:

And a big F&(K YOU to PG Fourways - you're a bunch of w@nkers who wasted 2 weeks of my time - @@sholes :mad0260:

It's always a pleasure dealing with PG Sandton. Highly recommended.
