Get Detailed | Mazda 3 | Opti Coat Pro | Toronto

This customer recently acquired a new generation Mazda 3. Now I've detailed many mazda 3's but this new one is super luxurious for the price. I mean they copied the BMW 3 series inside and out with sound deadening and all. The paint has also improved, before where I use to see reading of 80-90 microns in overall thickness (Primer, Paint, clear coat), I now see 100-120 but there is a lot of orange peel so take that as you will.

He heard about my Opti-Coat Pro services and wanted it done to his car because he had concerns about the minor swirling in the paint and because he liked the idea of never waxing his paint again. It also helps the paint stay looking new because it's resistant to swirls and it makes the paint more resistant to things like bird dropping, bugs and tree sap.

Here is the car in question in it's beautiful red paint job.

Big fan of @Hamza7 's work, had him detail my car and fix up a small paint chip. Fun guy to talk to as well, definitely a real car enthusiast! Wish you the best of luck my friend.

Since I've decided to forgo the clear bra (their worth more than the parts they are protecting) and I've had to brush more snow off my car than I care to think about....

GB for opti-coat?

I applied 3 coats of Klasse HGSG before winter... just crossing my fingers and this point that my paint isn't a damn mess.

Hamza7 01-30-2014 09:48 PM

^We can do a GB for Opti-Coat for sure but I'll have to ask OPT the people that make Opti-Coat Pro because they've made us sign a contract telling us we can't sell it below $450 because it was bringing the products reputation down.

Also your Klasse sealant should outlast winter easily, especially 3 layers. Check out this for removing snow [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Sno-Brum-Original-Removal-Telescoping/dp/B0007LDXLA"]Amazon.com: Sno Brum Original Snow Removal Tool with Telescoping Handle: Patio, Lawn & Garden[/ame] or get into the habbit of removing snow with a brush but leave 1/8" snow on the car to drift away while driving so you don't touch the paint.

It's just you, I think the front end is gorgeous. Mazda is really stepping up their styling. At least the new front end doesn't look like a grinning idiot anymore.

Thanks Brian. Yeah the front end is definitely a love it or hate thing. I like it for some reason really on the hatch.

Hey Hamza I checked out your website it looks pretty good. What's your opinion between Opti-Coat and CQuartz? You still do CQuartz? Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Hey,

I do CQuartz and Opti-Coat Pro but honestly reserve CQuartz for weekend toys. Opti-Coat Pro is durable there's no question about that but in the looks department it doesn't have as deep as a gloss as CQuartz and there's a definite difference especially on darker colours.

Also Opti-Coat Pro lasts longer and is thicker but CQuartz actually stays cleaner because Opti-Coat Pro beads and CQuartz sheets. Beading is when you get water beads on your car after a wash or rain but if allowed to dry then you get these random water spots which is easily removable. While CQuartz sheets the water off, hard to explain but water comes off the car collectively. Here's a video.

I do both because of their unique characteristics, but I can apply whatever one fits the type of driver you are and the look you are going for.

That water sheeting off is exactly what happened once I switched from Meguiars Professional line-up (I used to order them thru Napa) to the Autoglym stuff on my old Golf. With the BRZ I'm currently just using Meguiars Ultimate off the shelf for now, as I haven't decided what to end up with. I didn't know about this ceramic stuff until you posted.

I drive like 10k or less a year so I guess it could be classified as a toy? :D

Sorry one last question: so basically with CQuartz being thinner it should be able to hold a coat of wax on top? But would the top wax layer be durable (or pointless since the gloss is already there)?

My car is dark grey in color, how would you describe the look of Opti-Coat vs CQuartz?

Thanks again!

Well wax won't really stay because both these coatings are designed for whatever is on top of them to fall off including wax but with CQuartz the look is great and even better then most waxes I would say. The paint looks so deep you could go swimming in it.

Honestly some people can tell the difference between the 2 and some can't. Sort of how I can't hear the difference between $20 headphones and $200. Because your educated in this maybe CQuartz would be a better option.

Thanks dude I'll find you once Spring rolls around (this road salt in Canada is really pissing me off so my car is just being garaged for now) and when I've made up my mind on which to go with. :D
