Tint Shop In GTA

Im looking for the best shop to tint your car in the GTA. Any suggestions would be great as well as the PRICE?

Aznek 05-03-2012 10:05 AM

I was interested in this as well. I checked on RFD and everyone seems to recommend either Audio Heaven or Auto Links.

l8apexr 05-03-2012 10:07 AM

try thornhill tints. they're prettty awesome.

AutoLinks or Audio Heaven

oldskule 05-03-2012 05:09 PM

Autolinks at Kennedy and Ellesmere. Have a buddy that got it done there recently for his 5 door hatch, believe they charged him $290. Since this car has 2 less windows, I'm sure they'll charge less.

ahquit 05-03-2012 05:33 PM

Technically this car could have the same number of windows as a 5 door because of the small windows by the side mirrors. Prices may not vary significantly from a wagon/hatchback since I assume the bulk of the price is in the labor and there wouldn't be much less labor to do a small window vs. a large window.

In either case, I plan to go to autolinks after delivery!

ArKiTeCkT 05-03-2012 05:41 PM

Thanks for all your suggestions. Will be heading to Autolinks upon deilvery.

Good point! I didn't even really notice those small side mirror windows :bonk:

Didn't notice? Baffling! I've never seen the car in person before but I've followed it so obsessively that I bet I could be blindfolded and still know every square inch of it the first time I get to it.

so did you end up taking your BRZ to Auto-links for tinting? How much did they charge you? And did you choose the Pinnacle or Classic series?

Thanks

Still waiting for mine :mad0260:. Did you get yours tinted

pizzahead20 07-17-2012 07:36 PM

Waiting as in you have an appointment for later on?

No I haven't done it yet. Can't decide where I want to get it done. I heard good things about auto-links but they are quite pricey compared to other places. But they do use one of the best materials I'm hearing - Llumar Formula One Pinnacle Series. I'm able to get quotes for under $200 at most other places.

Sh4rp 07-17-2012 09:40 PM

Still waiting for pickup of my frs, let. Ke know how the tints go and what you thoutnof service.

@pizzahead20
Waiting for my car to come....It should be here by end of July....
BTW where did you get your car detailed?

VirUzxZ 07-17-2012 10:35 PM

i went with the pinnacle elite and had my raven Tinted 15 all around last wed. Was my first Tint, saw some bubbles, bagan to worry, tint guy garrenteed me that they'd cure right out. tint guy totally spot on with the reassurance. Looks like the glass came tinted.

Over all Super happy with it. paid a bit over 3 after taxes.

side note asked about the tail lights to be done aswell. was told something along the lines of like 180. my tail lights don't need to be tinted that badly.....

Im planning to use red VHT spray paint for my tail lights.

brianc 07-18-2012 07:15 AM

When it comes to tints. Installation and tin film should be more important than price. Don't cheap out.

Blue FRS 07-18-2012 11:10 PM

If you are in the Oakville area i can recommend Touch of Tint.

driver01 07-19-2012 06:00 AM

The ceramic tints i got installed at autolinks are amazing. The heat transfer is greatly reduced. They dont just make it darker they actually stop heat radiating through!

drei 07-26-2012 04:48 PM

i just booked an appointment at auto links for ceramic tints, will post pics and feedback when i get them done (next week)

styl3z 07-26-2012 06:08 PM

How much for the ceramic tints at autolink? I plan on getting tints done once I get my frs.

FR-S,M.D. 07-26-2012 11:15 PM

Got Air Blue 80 on front windshield and Pinnacle 30 all around at Auto-links. Excellent product, craftsmanship and customer service. Well worth price, don't cheap out. LOL every time I see these brown dudes in their riced up civics with bubbling purple tint.

ahquit 07-27-2012 09:29 PM

I just got the 30% pinnacle ceramic from FX auto in Markham. No bubbles or dust, looks pretty good and should be perfect once it dries. I'd recommend them as well, excellent workmanship.

drei 07-28-2012 08:23 AM

got 15% all around @ Autolinks. Did an awesome job, tinted my sidemarkers for me too (not sure if I will keep them though).

Can't recommend them enough.. awesome service, awesome tint, fantastic customer support. Check them out.. tell them you're from this forum

I had my windows tinted by Norb @ Carbox Industries in Thornhill. Phenomenal job and price.

ArKiTeCkT 07-28-2012 09:35 AM

Only problem with 15% tint is that you might get pulled over.

Took about 3 hours, but it seemed like they were really backed up that day

RandomHero 07-28-2012 02:30 PM

Most guys keep your car for 2.5-3 hrs anyways to allow a little dry time before you drive it away. The tint itself shoudl only take 30-45 mins as far as I know. Getting mine done by a buddy at Standard Auto glass in Tillsonburg. Awesome work and only $220 for the whole car plus a windshield strip.

excited86 07-29-2012 01:54 AM

found this on the MTO website

After-market window tinting prohibited on the windshield and windows to the immediate left and right of the driver for vehicles manufactured after July 1, 2011;

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/tru...s/annual.shtml

So we can only get the back window tint?

That applies only to commercial motor vehicles.

ArKiTeCkT 07-29-2012 08:12 AM

Found this:

(3) No person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle on which the surface of the windshield or of any window to the direct left or right of the driver's seat has been coated with any coloured spray or other coloured or reflective material that substantially obscures the interior of the motor vehicle when viewed from outside the motor vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 73 (3).

How do tinters get around the front window rolling down? Also, is the third brake light in the way when they're doing the back windows?

Sh4rp 08-02-2012 09:11 PM

Made an appointment for sat. At 4!

Hey I spoke with Norb a few days ago when I got my pulley installed by Dave(Defcon). He showed me a picture of what looks like your car. You have the JDM headlights right? How did you get them?:w00t:

Not JDM headlights... I just blacked out the housing when I did the Morimoto HID retrofit.

Take door apart, and take off the break light

brianc 08-03-2012 07:47 AM

Both Norb at Carbox and John at Auto-Links are great installers.

Most people seem to assume that 35% is the legal limit for the side windows. I've been pulled over before with 35% tints. It depends on the police officer. He told me you aren't allowed to have tints that can make looking into the interior hard. And at night 35% is too dark... I've also been pulled over for other things and I now have 10% (Don't remember either 10 or 12) all around and I haven't been pulled over since.

Planning to do 15% sometime next week on the TL I just picked up.
