15 inch rear wheels for dragstrip use
Hello everyone, I have a FRS with a turbo and long story short I am in serious need of rear tires to help with my traction issues.
Can anyone on here confirm if a 15x7 inch Rota Slipstream et35 will fit only in the rear? If it does I'm going to run a 235-60-15 Drag Radial. Thank You. |
Might have to space it out to clear the rear calipers. See if Rota has a wheel fit template you can try out.
why not just get a set of 16" wheels and run drag slicks in a 16" size (255-50/16 is an option. tire rack has a 225 width and a 275 width drag radial) |

Thanks for chiming in. I'm looking to get 15's because the tire I listed above has a real nice sidewall size, which is something I need a ton of. I would get 16's but then I would have to change tire sizes and get something even larger that probably won't fit. Also I'm lowered on Sportlines, so I can't have anything too wide. Stock springs I could just have the tire poke out of the fenders and be fine, but I'm dropped 1.4~ so I can't make that happen anymore. Some people are telling me it will fit and others are telling me it won't, so I was hoping someone on the forum had a better idea. I'll probably have to contact Rota |
in to see what fits....

How much power do you have?

I was planing on pushing the same amount of hp or a tad more; running r888 215/45 on the stock rear wheels ... |

Yeah lol trust me you will need A LOT more than that. Right now I'm on e55 only 12-14psi maybe 340whpish... 1st through 3rd is a total roast fest. It's fun and all, but I want a good set of tires for track use, and maybe occasionally street use too. |

Ughhh damn it ! What wheels are you on ? Sent from my IBrick |

Currently 18x8 OZ Ultraleggera's with 235-35-18 BFG KDW2's |
360whp and I was hooking on 255/50-16 MT et streets just fine. 16" s2000 wheels with 1" adapters and I'm on h&r race springs. You won't need any more sidewall than what I'm running and anyone that says different is misinformed

i had 477whp and I did fine with 17x9 rpf1s and 275/40/17 drag radials, I tried the route youre looking for and found out that you can't really get rotas in the right size and offset to work. Ill be running this same tire on the car with my ls2 swap, Mickey thompson ET streets are the way to go in that size.

Maybe @Ross can chime in as well? |
Fabrons are 255/50/16 on s2k wheels, and custom hub centric adapters. We were having a hard time finding wheels in the proper offset that were cost effective. He picked up the wheels and tires for a smoking deal so it was justifiable to get the adapters.
|
Exactly the same situation I was in. No one makes a wheel with the proper offset in a 15" that's decently wide.

Drove 3hrs to the track, raced and drove 3hrs back.

Currently I'm making 424whp on Mustang Dyno (Somewhere near high 400's Dynojet).
I talked to @dynosty and they said they'd email me back when they got details together regarding their wheel & tire package. @Pure Automotive What offset were your rpf1's and did they fit fine under stock fenders? I'm running Eibach Sportline springs on stock shocks so I'm not sure if I can fit a 275 tire in there without rubbing |
I have a contact with Belak wheels that can make you a set of wheels that fit.
|
You don't need a 275 tire with 425whp!! The 255's on my car fit perfect and were previously on an s2000 that ran 10.50's with 650whp

Last I remember those wheels cost a arm and a leg lol thank you though |

So you have stock s2k wheels, adapters, and 255-50-16, correct? You need to take into consideration here, your 360whp is a lot different from what I'm making. I don't want to buy "too small" and find out I've wasted a ton of money lol that's why I'm getting everyone's opinions as to what works for them and what doesn't. |
A 650whp s2000 has quite a bit more than your 425whp. I'm not trying to be a **** but you don't seem to want to listen to someone who has this setup and who has run it. Buy the 275 and when they don't fit am I allowed to laugh at you? My buddy has 275's on his 1000whp nova so on your car that's slightly overkill. I plan to go for more than your whp this year and guess what my tires will remain the same.

No need to be rude over it. All I said was I'm taking everyone's personal experience into consideration for my purchase. You said 255's work for you, that's great, and Pure said 275's work for them, that's great too. What I'm trying to do is figure out the perfect size setup for my goals. Pure seems to feel the 275 works great on their FRS, and I would like to know why they chose that tire over a 255. It's not the fact that I don't want to listen to you, I would just like to get multiple opinions from people before I do this. |
Hence y I said not trying to be a d1ck. But if you want cheap s2k wheels and adapters will only run you $200 and the tires will be considerably cheaper

What's the original offset of the wheels? And how thick is the adapter? I'm not a huge fan of adapters/spacers, but I suppose in a 1/4mile pass it can't do much harm. Also you're on stock fenders and stock shocks? |
Stock fenders stock shocks. I think they're +63 or something stupid inset. I got a 1" conversion spacer and had a 1/4" machined off the back side.

Okay. Also did you buy rear wheels or front wheels off of the s2k? Because I'm seeing online the fronts are 16x6.5 and the rears were 16x7.5, I'd assume you bought the rears because a 255-50-16 would fit a lot better on the 7.5 |
Yeah I got rears
