picking up my new BRZ in a couple hours

Hey guys, I'm picking up my BRZ in a couple hours :D:D

Anything else I need to know thats important to know?? anything I need to look for?

Should Iask for any freebies at the dealership?

:thanks:

sklimo 01-16-2014 04:24 PM

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure you do a real good inspection before you drive off the lot. Inside and out

sklimo 01-16-2014 04:27 PM

+1 on no drilling for plate

N1rve 01-16-2014 05:01 PM

Check for scratches and bubbles in the paint.

Check the tire pressure... when I got mine...they were at 30 PSI.. also check to make sure they installed those rubber gromments under the car to prevent water from getting in.

Check the fluids and make sure they're at the full mark.

Tell them not to wash it!!!!!!!

Very hard to do for the delivery (I tried).

Plus, you really need to see a clean, washed, car to see any damage which occurred at the port, in transit, or when they cleaned and washed it. It's a Catch-22...

gily25 01-16-2014 05:32 PM

Ask for at least 1 free oil change and a full tank of gas (make sure they put in premium, tell them you want to see the receipt).

oh and do not let them intall the front plate for you, otherwise they'll drill into the front fascia.

This.

I sprinted out of the Finance room to make sure that they don't drilling my fucking bumper.

m.wood0213 01-16-2014 05:35 PM

make sure they dont drill into the bumper. A full tank of gas should be a given so make sure they do it. As for freebies maybe get a keychain or something.

I told them the deal was off if they washed it. I also told them I would say they washed it on my survey...that's what they were worried about. I got lucky that my paint was flawless once I washed it. I do see what you mean about being able to inspect it.

You should get at least 3 free oil changes. Actually 4 I think. Dont know exactly I only have 1700 miles so far. Is it a 13 or a 14? Where are you purchasing the car from? And as stated above, bring a friend and a flashlight if you are going at night. Oh and make sure the code for the stereo is in the car. If you disconnect the battery for long enough you will need it. Congrats.

JS + BRZ 01-16-2014 06:34 PM

Don't we all get 2 yr free maintenance plan?

Nope we don't all get this, they probably sneaked it in with your car price.

Myv 01-16-2014 06:38 PM

Those rubber gasket things in the glove box, have them make sure its plugged in or install them yourself. Hole is in front of both back wheels at the bottom.

Every BRZ purchase in Cali comes with it according to the sales manager. Nothing else was added onto the pricing sheet. :iono:

Um I'm pretty sure you do. A lot of dealers are not telling people that buy the car they get the free 2 year maintenance. It was not added to my price, and there are a lot of people here that can vouch for that. Call another Subaru dealer besides yours and ask their service department. Call up and say you want to come in for you free complimentary oil change.

As a matter of fact I bought my car at one dealer, called me local dealer and asked if I can get the free change there. They said no problem. Dealers are sometimes very shady.

Hey OP if you get a chance and ask the dealer about this please tell us what they say.

JS + BRZ 01-16-2014 07:12 PM

Yep. My internet sales manager also mentioned it when I first contacted the dealers. Don't remember what he said, but he did say something like it only works in California.

I did get a free complimentary oil change for my first one but they tried to make me buy it at first and I wasn't having it since I thought the first one is free. Anyways it's probably because I bought mine in Colorado.

As soon as it's driven off the lot it WILL get hit with rocks. Hell mine has less than 500 miles and I already have two rock chips on the hood and one irritating chip in the windshield. :(

Congrats!

Subaru advertises the car as coming with a 2 year oil change and service for free. Every dealer has to honor this if you press them.

One thing I would do before I leave the dealer is find a service rep that knows these head units (they are in three Subaru models) My dealer (Sewell Subaru of Dallas) set a lot of the internal settings like automatic volume restoration level and also the voice volume on the Navigation is different than the standard volume. A good rep can go through these things and set them to your preference and it gives you a pre-look at acessing the deeper menu items and give you a headstart on how to fine tune it later to our own discretion and you will have an easier time than starting from scratch in the manual and even give you a head start on your own exploration of the inner settings. And if you add on pre-wired Subwoofer kit from Subaru or OEM you need to set the fader to the back just a bit to stop the bass for being overpowering.(Which I had to figure out on my own) Form there you just use the EQ 5 setting to make quick adjustments to music coming from different sources (Sirius/HD Radio/USB mp3 files and such as they all differ somewhat).

JS + BRZ 01-16-2014 08:52 PM

^ My dealer was trying to give me a lesson on all these stuff. I told them to please give me my key so I can drive it asap. :D

After couple days of picking up the car, I played with the navis and other stuff and figured it out.

buoywx 01-16-2014 09:08 PM

My dealer never offered free oil changes. They told me oil changes would cost $100 plus because they were promoting this Krex additive. If I let them do this they would warranty the engine to 200,000 miles.

After a short amount of research, I realized this was a scam. Even if it was free I wouldn't let them do it. I want to choose my own oil and don't want scam additive in my car.

ftc~brz 01-16-2014 09:13 PM

congrats. hope you got the all seasons

Any link or other info on Subaru advertising the free 2 year service? Planning on buying one next week and would like some evidence to back me up if they deny this.

Email them right now to see what they say. Let us know.

Dwood11 01-16-2014 09:51 PM

I actually called Subaru North America and they told me there is no such thing. I know shady. You can call my dealership if you want and talk to their service dept to see that it's real.

Ask for Mitch. Subaru Pacific. 424-634-7734

Not really free - just prepaid and hoping you won't show up...

I believe that is stated directly in the sales brochure. I distinctly remember seeing it in print in official Subaru sales material.

Dwood11 01-17-2014 12:13 AM

Oh and don't hoon it for the first 1000 miles. A couple of near redline pulls will be ok during that time but don't go too crazy. Your engine and clutch will thank you.

So, I just downloaded the brochure and there doesn't seem to be any reference to the 2 year maintenance.

OP is acquiring a BRZ...and if it's anything like mine, he was able to negotiate it to less than the Pure Price of a Base FR-S, plus my dealer added a lifetime warranty to the engine (no cost to me). You can have your maintenance, I'd rather have the few extra goodies that came with my BRZ. Plus I like the bumper *grin*

HapaHaole 01-18-2014 01:31 AM

Only place such a statement that a BRZ comes with scheduled maintenance would be noted on the sales stick on the car. I purchased a 2014 and it did not state it comes with it.

BRZfan 01-18-2014 07:33 AM

Who drives 200,000? How stupid can one get. Might as well say two million miles.
