Sound Clip Request: Catless UEL + Catted Front Pipe + Invidia N1
Anyone running this setup? Recently added a JDL Overpipe + Invidia catted front pipe + Q300 catback to my car along with a JDL UEL. I'm trying to determine if this setup is just "too quiet". Can't hear too much inside the car. Hard to tell if there's even much noise out the back with windows down.
I've already looked on youtube, seen a couple videos sort of close to what I'm looking for but not quite. Few things I'm wondering about the N1 setup: A) Is anyone running a catless UEL with a catted Invidia front pipe and the N1? I know there's tons of resonated or catless ones. Specifically looking for the catted since that's what I've got. B) I've heard drone is reduced by having a catless UEL vs the stock header. True or not? C) Does it become raspy with this setup? I like the deepness of the dual canister setup, but the main thing I can't stand is rasp. If it drones a little, I can stand that, but nothing too crazy. Just trying to find that perfect balance of loudness without being too quiet or too raspy. I may stick with the Q300, but the N1 isn't very expensive and the pipe size should keep the sound reasonable. Yes, I've searched the forums. There's also a million vendor threads with "Invidia N1" in them. |
I ran an N1 for a little, just the catback and the drone was just terrible. Would not recommend, plus it is probably going to be raspy with a catless header and even worse on the drone.

Lol crackhead
Edit: I mean Matt. |

I think your combo with the N1 would pretty loud inside the car having run that exhaust with no other exhaust mods. I am surprised u think the Q300 is too quiet with the rest of your exhaust mods ..... with the Q300 you could consider non resonated midpipe and/or frontpipe or no cats if you have those. I have the Q300 + resonated catless front pipe + overpipe and think it sounds pretty good and will be great once I get a header.

your setup is pretty close to what mine will be.
JDL UEL+Perrin over pipe+Invidia resonated frontpipe+Q300. right now i have stock headers as im waiting for them to be built but yeah I agree it sounds too quiet. I'm waiting until my headers come to make a final decision to keep the q300 or not. I also considered installing an electric cutout somewhere between the front pipe and muffler so I can have the best of both worlds but there isnt too much info on electric cutouts on our cars so i dont know how it would work out |
I am running Borla UEL, motiv OP, stock FP, 2.5inch Perrin resonated. If you want a video of that, let me know.
|
UEL IS LOUD, wow........... how much is it. What's the difference of catback, header, cat front and all that
|
I may try the N1 and keep the Q300 if I get tired of it being loud, which normally I don't have a problem with. I even rolled the windows down and stepped on it and it still seems a bit tame with the UEL rumble. Absolutely no drone and real quiet in the cab. I do like how deep toned the N1 is. Losing the aero of the Q300 kind of sucks, but I don't think it affects things too much.

I'd be willing to bet that your set up would sound great with an Ft86speedfactory V1 resonated catback.

Seems like it would get you the extra ruckus that you're looking for, while still sounding great. |
Here is mine.

I'm not UEL, I'm running P&L EL catted (for the winter/catless for warm weather) with P&L over pipe and catted front pipe with the N1 catback. Drone sucks major on the highway when you get near 3000rpms. So bad for me that I wear head phones on road trips and listen to my music on my phone instead of the stereo. Catless header was slightly worse. I'm currently looking for a catback with less drone. Perrin?

Matt just get a damn Perrin Catback 3" resonated and you will have the perfect combination of deep quite sound.

I have the JDL UEL/overpipe catless invidia front pipe and N1 catback. It droned a ton at highway speeds when i did NOT have the header/overpipe on. Now with the header/overpipe and a tune it does not drone and there is little to no rasp even without the catted front pipe. It is super loud... louder than any that I have yet to hear. It would probably only be a bit quieter with the catted front pipe

I have the N1 catback with stock header and over/front pipe. On my setup, it drones at highway speeds from 3-3.8k pretty heavily sometimes. I am eagerly awaiting some results here, because I'm searching for a very similar setup.
|
I have an invidia N1, catless none res front pipe and invidia overpipe. Idk if I should pick up the jdl uel header or ft 86 speed factory catted uel. I'm afraid if I run a catless header and catless front pipe it'll be too loud/raspy. If anyone has a very similar setup, I'd love to hear sound clips and feedback.
|
Matt, you have the exact setup I'm planning except I plan to go with a JDL catted front pipe. Can you post a video of your setup? lol
Saw you ordered the N1. Are you looking to sell the Q300? |
@FR-S Matt Did you ever get this issue resolved? If not, I'm currently running the N1 with catless headers and a frontpipe. I make a sound clip if you'd like.
