Sub"d for more pricing

Superhatch 01-10-2014 12:22 AM

It's been a long time since a Japanese company has modded a car just for the hell/PR of it. Really reminds me of what was happening back in the 80s. Love it.

m.box.design 01-10-2014 12:23 AM

I guess the TRD prices can be justified by the sheer amount of manpower and testing with tools and facilities. Cost of R&D and testing must be spendy!

rcm47 01-10-2014 12:34 AM

Fuuuuuuuhhhh.

stevo_12v 01-10-2014 12:38 AM

Any idea what that fluro stuff is they are putting on the canards, and rear quarters?

stevo_12v 01-10-2014 12:58 AM

Woah, talk about a ram air feed. No air filter necessary o.O

maybe to see how it moves across the surface of the car to determine real world aerodynamics not replicated in a wind tunnel? tthat's my guess. :D

Perhaps officially those are the wheels, but the wheels at 4:15 are not made by Rays.

Those front fenders... ::drool::

Levi 01-10-2014 11:11 AM

What car!!! Wonder how much power and how high it revs! Toyota needs to produce it. I love how Japanese improve on products. Germans can't do this. GT-R, IS-F, now this. Hope something will go to production.

Last I heard it was making around 230-240 at the crank.

Ryuu0u 01-10-2014 12:03 PM

TRD griffon kit please! While you're at it I want the oil cooler and drive train bits.

Code:Red 01-10-2014 12:09 PM

After watching this, I feel like the 1st mod I should really do are underbody panels.

This isn't an only an intake. It's aero. Comes in through the grille and through the openings on the hood.

phastafrican 01-10-2014 01:13 PM

This is an awesome build!

stevo_12v 01-10-2014 02:18 PM

The ones I'm really interested in are the
TRD Camshaft
TRD ECU
I'd really like to see the dyno plot on this!

they do that for test aerodynamics. seeing where the airflow really is especially when the car is shifting directions really fast.

Your right, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc. have never built and campaigned racing models or put out upgraded parts for their cars...watch out, I think your ignorance is showing.

No, the changes are only at mid-life-cycle, not yearly. I havne not told the GT86/BRZ changed anything. But maybe it will. I have not talked about compaigns. What out, your lack or reading and comprehension skills are showing.

BRZ NA 01-11-2014 11:16 AM

Love this car

You are correct, I cannot comprehend your spelling and sentence structure...

I can't begin to describe how much I want this. Or at least some of it. I love that TRD is doing real aerodynamic testing, I really want to see what they've done under the car. There was a brief shot under the car in the video about a year ago, but it looks like they have done a lot more in the aero department with this latest version. That rear diffuser looks hellafunctional.

I know this is just being used as a test-bed, but I would do ALL the aero bits, including the hood and front "ram air(?)" scoop. It looks like all the air going through the front is channelled either into the engine, or through various radiators then out the hood, with no air going under the car, or into the engine bay even. Does the entire assembly act as the front bumper beam (at least I didn't see a bumper beam anywhere, looks like a new one at the rear though)?

Internal engine modifications? I can't afford them right now, so while it's great to see TRD working on more power, I can afford aerodynamic bits one piece at a time, but not pistons and labour. I don't even want to guess what the cost would be to change pistons, con rods, cam shafts, bearings, etc, etc. Cheaper to make the car lighter and more slippery through the air at the moment I think. Power can come later. The TRD catalogue has some of the things on the Griffon, but not the bits I'm really interested in.

I don't think the first Griffon iteration had a square set up for rims and rubber. I thought it was a typo at first, but they do look square in the video. I think there were 3 different rims in the video, none of which were the Volk ZE40's. But the mention of them really has me wondering what bronze ZE40's on a black car would look like. I think I'd prefer to go with 18x8.5 45 with 245/35-18 all around though.

Toyota / TRD – if you're listening. Please make these parts available in North America, once all the testing is done.

I WANT!

I WANT!

Even if they don't release these parts in the Usa, i always get my japan only parts for my Ae86 from Ep Importers. Really great guy. He also has a facebook page.

I love how Trd keeps evolving their Griffon car.

86_IT 10-11-2015 11:45 PM

Now all we need them to do is release the parts.

weederr33 10-12-2015 12:52 AM

I don't care about anything else on that car, just give me that front bumper, NOW!

Chad86 10-12-2015 01:06 AM

Are the intake duct and hood available TRD parts?

sato 10-20-2015 10:50 AM

I just love that rear bumper, diffuser and center muffler...
