Exhaust tips
Anyone else not immediately swaping out the exhaust and sticking with stock for a while?
I'd be interested in getting the JDM exhaust tips (assuming we're using same exhaust) since I think the larger tips didn't meet some standards here in NA (too big/stuck out too much)? If they aren't the same exhaust, does anyone know if the JDM exhaust is using tips or if they're all one piece and I'd have to go aftermarket for a better looking tip? |
If you can replace the tips only at relatively low cost I am in... group buy! Definitely want the JDM look.

$44 each at Kragen-O'Reilly stores haha. Anyone know if they change the sound of the exhaust or add any performance? |

That's the first mod I want to do. I wish we could get the Euro tips. I don't even want people to see my BRZ with those little things hidden under the diffuser.
Definitely in for a GB. |
The USDM tips really make it look like a Toyota, I want the JDM tips so bad. I'm down for group buy!
|
+1 for a groupbuy!
Vendors- Listen up!! Quit trying to sell us $100 clear sidemarkers and sell us some JDM tips. |
I saw the orange/amber sidemarkers on the White FRS today. Man, they're SOOOOOO orange that it's almost obscene.

Btw when you went to see the car, did you get any shots under the exhaust tips? I want to know if they are in fact tips that are screwed/bolted on because that would mean a simple part purchase from anywhere else in the world other than N.A. |
In for group buy, come on vendors, TAKE OUR MONEY!
|
I'm going to tint the side markers pretty dark. Should be cheaper than clear JDMs markers and will de-emphasize them enough that they won't be as noticeable.
As for the exhaust tips, I'm going to try a couple bolt-ons we sell at work. The only problem with them is that they have a sound deadening material in them that will change the sound. I only hope there's enough exhaust pipe that I can push the tips back to block the sound deadening if I don't like the change. And hopefully that will hold me over until there's a better selection of aftermarket exhausts in the US. |
Quick question guys, can you post up pics here what tips your looking for? I know the stock ones are sort of a triangle design right for JDM GT86? But are you guys looking for TRD quad type? Big singles?
Im tryin to get an idea of which tips youre looking for exactly Luis S 310-522-2383 |

Man $180 just for tips?! That's crazy. Might as well just put that money towards an exhaust.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9536&page=7 It let me hesitate to buy. Did any people try these “BMW” one? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237510 They look pretty cool for me, but I am not sure how the fitment, quality and look like on BRZ. Thanks. |
I saw the PERRIN exhaust tip for BRZ and FRS using clamp to hold instead using bolt.
http://www.perrinperformance.com/brzfr-s/brz-slash-cut-exhaust-tip Will that more robust or the reliability will be better? I know that it might be too expensive for the tip. Thanks. |

i am still undecided on what exhaust to get so i splurged on the JDM tips today. What a huge aesthetic improvement it makes to the rear end.
