*Help Develop Parts for the 86/FRS/BRZ Community*

Below is a current list of companies looking to develop aftermarket/upgrade parts for the 86/FRS/BRZ. These companies need your car for research and development in order to release products that will serve the entire 86/FRS/BRZ community.

For your trouble, many of these companies will often give you the part(s) for free, or they may offer you a substantial discount on the part(s).

If you have confirmation that a company is looking for donor vehicles, please reply to this thread and the first post will be updated.

This list will always be updated on the first page.
No needs at this time

I believe Pekingduck is already in for AEM unless there was a schedule conflict.

Tanabe should be a good one. If people from the First 86 program don't jump on it, the first batch of owners will surely do so LOL.

Yeah, the car is not even out yet, and the ball is rolling :)

I know that sometimes these companies want multiple cars, and both A/T and M/T vehicles to check and verify fitment, not to mention people often flake, so the more people on it the better.

Bump for updates

eikond 04-30-2012 01:04 PM

I'd consider going over to South Bend to visit TireRack.. but it's out of my way, so there would have to be something in it for me.. maybe a discount on some wheels or something..

Don't most of these deals include some "freebee" or something for the R&D car owner?

kmbkk 04-30-2012 01:11 PM

Any companies in FL? I'd be happy to work with companies to get parts developed for the FR-S/BRZ...first 86 here also.

Yes, most companies give you some form of compensation (free/discounted parts).

We could use a Scion to take a few pictures of our lowering springs on that car. Time frame is probably June/July. PM me.

As I was telling luxmn, Cobb Tuning is in Austin (not exactly close to you) but they will probably need quite a few cars if they plan to make an access port and exhaust for us. You should call them and see what they say...

OrbitalEllipses 05-01-2012 11:22 AM

Something on the East Coast maybe please?

Yeah right. They're in the GTR game now, they're not coming back to their humble Subaru beginnings.

mines13 05-01-2012 11:38 AM

The fact is, there is way more money to be made on the Subaru front then with the GT-R market. It is but a fraction of the size. Count on an access port for your FR-S/BRZ.

Most of the big companies are in CA, but I am looking around to find places everywhere that are interested in producing parts for us.

* I spoke to a Cobb rep. this morning. He said they are interested in checking out the vehicle and watching how well the FRS/BRZ community develops, but it seems they are only supporting boosted cars now. I guess it will all depend on what type of gains Cobb thinks are possible, and how strong the market is for FRS/BRZ products.

OrbitalEllipses 05-01-2012 01:34 PM

Told ya so. Returns on a tune are so small in N/A applications that people would get sticker shock ($600 Cobb AP + $400 tune for 10hp?).

They should get back to you within a week or so. If not, check your email filters to make sure the reply wasn't junked or blocked.

Calling them is always a good idea as well.

Yeah, from Trey himself, they're going to hold off for a while and see how things play out. I think they're going to weight 18 months or so for the 'FA16DIT'.
I'll be plugging into a BRZ this weekend but for a short window. I'll see what I can get off of the ECU BUT I'm still going to lean on Trey about an Accessport.
I haven't talked with Jerome at Turbo XS lately about it and don't recall what Bill @ I-speed said...it was too long ago lol

Full Race has said that they're going to wait and see the market before hopping in.

I'm obviously doing my usual engine internals/short/longblocks.

Turn In Concepts I think already has a donor car for getting suspension components dimensions but I'm not sure if that is still going through. That same car's engine might be coming to us.

Tjsupra2003 05-01-2012 05:39 PM

Ny first 86

Anyone know of any companies in the northeast that's looking for a car to use? First 86 here, raven manual. Let me know, thanks

Lonewolf 05-03-2012 06:43 PM

Update: For those looking for brake stuff, Centric has already started developing new pads and rotors for the FRS/BRZ, and they should be available by the end of the summer.

Horrid Rear Taillights: In regards to the altezza monstrosities, I have contacted both Spec-D Tuning and Depo about new taillights. Spec-D doesn't have any plans for the FRS/BRZ at the moment, and I have not heard back from Depo yet.
