Is anyone else going to take the badges off their FRS?

The way I look at it we don't need no stinking badges!

Mari0 04-29-2012 03:27 PM

There are (or at least were) like 20 threads about that...

Subie 04-29-2012 03:27 PM

If I owned one I'd replace the Scion badges with Toyota badges.

robo_robb 04-29-2012 04:11 PM

My first mod will be Toyota re-badging. Scion means nothing to me.

ichitaka05 04-29-2012 04:31 PM

Don't give a damn which badge it has. For hell of it, I might have Daihatsu badge

I had a thread on this earlier.

A lot of folks hung up on the Scion brand. That really doesn't matter to me.

I just don't like the silver hanging out on the nose like that, but I think it leaves holes if you remove it.

I'm considering buying a second set of badging and trying to do a black/white theme on them like what was on the "Speed Racer" car in Long Beach, and black out the rest.

MrFRsLa 04-29-2012 04:44 PM

No Badges for my I think. I just don't want to leave holes if so they stay. Its all about looking clean.

Torquesteered 04-29-2012 04:44 PM

Just can't figure out why the badges matter...

Do people think Toyota is cool and Scion is not? If thats the case then why not use a premium brand badge because the image Toyota has (atleast in the US) is an economy mainstream brand. Not a premium/luxo brand often associated with badge whores.

Not trying to offend just curious, I don't care what badge my car wears because I don't care who it impresses. I buy the car I want not the car I want to be seen in...

I look at it two ways.

First I think cars in general look cleaner without badges.

Second if your rockin no plates which is legal for quite a while No cameras can catch you. It tends to be little bit easier to get out of ticket as well.

Hmmm, wonder if I could find some Yugo badges if they haven't all rusted by now.

I'm pretty sure you can buy replica ver

S2kphile 04-29-2012 05:03 PM

Just for fun throw on some Ferrari badges and watch the women swoon. +1 if you have Red.

Sasquachulator 04-29-2012 05:03 PM

I'd be just removing the FRS badge, cuz it looks like a sticker just stuck on the rear end.

The dont care about whether the car has scion, BMW, Merc, Toyota badges. those can stay.

eikond 04-29-2012 05:03 PM

I would definitely remove all associations with Scion. ;)

That had crossed my mind....

MrFRsLa 04-29-2012 05:36 PM

The only hood ornament I want is a tall blonde or redhead :P ;)

I wasn't think of doing any sort of de-badging/badge swap (except if they maybe give us the Toyota-version red "Boxer 86" fender badges), but that sounds like a nice low-key, cheap aesthetic upgrade.

quik1987 04-29-2012 06:39 PM

I like how the JDM cars have only the Toyota emblem on the rear, so I will be removing the FR-S badges, then replacing the Scion emblem when I can get my hands on Toyota ones.

1) too bad we don't get fog lamps

2) too bad we dont get the headlamps from toyota

3) I would probably plastidip them to black.

How is this relevant to the thread?

mattles 04-29-2012 06:50 PM

I wanted to rebadge, but then I realized Im not a fan of toyota anyways. Id rather have Subaru badging to be honest since it is a Subaru and most of the other parts are stamped Subaru. However it seems its probably not worth the trouble. Im just gonna black out all existing badging and leave it at that.

relevant because i dont see how rebadging the car to toyota makes it "JDM". it makes you play pretend thats all.

This is a thread about emblems and badges though. Why are you discussing fogs and headlights?

russv 04-29-2012 07:31 PM

The badges really aren't that bad, they are more of a pewter color

raphymartinez 04-29-2012 07:31 PM

Anyone know if the badges on the FR-S are the same size as say the Camry badges?

Why re-badge it? well... I'm 32 years old and Scion is a younger brand (yes I know 32 isn't really old but u know what i'm saying). I know it's mostly a Subaru but since I'll be buying the Scion version i would like to put Toyota badges on it to at least keep it in the family.

I agree, they didn't look as bad in person as I thought they would. Still, I've got the black badges stuck in my head now and they won't go away! I think it goes back to my MK1 MR2 days when it was red with black whale tail, mud flaps and badges.

What? Wait, what? 32 is old? Damn... I must be old then. I'm only 3 yrs different than you. I've met several 40's & even 50's ppl wanting this car. They didn't give a damn if it's coming out Toyota, SCION, or Subaru. I think one dude was saying he wanted to put Datsun emblem on there LOL (he was old Fairlady fan)

Toyota fr-s 04-29-2012 08:56 PM

I wouldnt be surprised if I see a GT-R badge on it at some point or one that says VTEC... Oh it happens...

Verge 04-29-2012 09:55 PM

I want to see a badge of 86 like on the wheel for the hood. But thats just me .. Ill debagde most likely.

If you're that hung up on scion stay out of our forum. Not all other parts are stamped subaru, nor is this a subaru. The genetics belong to both parents from the idea to the chassis to the design and every little bit in between.

If I see a brz driver on the road I'll smile and nod his way knowing he is a fellow car enthusiast who has a preference for feel and "fun".... As well as in their case... mustache rides.

azian_advanced 04-29-2012 11:34 PM

i'd take out all including the 86-boxer badge on the fenders. just not a fan of badges.

Stay out of 'our' forum? Hold on there, buddy. Maybe you should come off your high horse.

Its just a badge engineered car, dont get it twisted. It happens to be a very good badge engineered car, however, I wont deny that.

They can package the damn car however the marketing department wants to, Id still buy it on performance and feel alone. However it is my car and I will modify it as I wish, cosmetically or otherwise.

Then isn't it better buying BRZ instead of FRS?

Logic must elude the poster.

Guff 04-30-2012 12:26 AM

I got some Bugatti badges to go my with my full Bugatti Wide-body kit.

I'm doing the rivet job myself! ;)

yayforaddison 04-30-2012 12:35 AM

How may times are people going to post about this?

Its a badge. If you're that worried about being stereotyped, then I have some news for you. People aren't going to be fooled by taking off the badges. If anything they will probably judge you more for being a moron.

With or without the badges, its still a Toyota/Scion/Subaru.

Saibot 04-30-2012 12:43 AM

So my friend has a plate that says "VTEC LOL". I think ill buy the plate from him and then stick some type R honda badges on my FRS.

Should look legiit

Well there are a few things particular to my situation, I am a first86er.

However, with all of the subaru dealer horror stories Ive heard and the markups, the dealer antics -- it would seem Scion does bring at least one thing better to the table; the buying experience.

That and the Toyota/Scion front end is better looking in my opinion. And speaking of aesthetics, the Subaru badges are better looking.

86'd 04-30-2012 01:24 AM

Whichever car I'm getting, I'll most likely keep the badges stock.

I considered changing the Scion badges out, but I'd want to do an actual "conversion " with the headlights and steering wheel and even the little embelems on the wheels.

But that'd be too much for, what, just to confuse people? LOL.

So I've come to terms with the far being a scion and think that over time this might be the car that redefines them.

You're first 86er? Wow SCION, you've chosen hellova person, Anti-Toyota/SCION. You don't like Toyota/SCION... but you signed up to be one of the first 86er... wait, am I missing something here or I'm just crazy?

I'm pretty sure someone else here is willing to give you extra cash to be one of the first 86er & you can use that for BRZ & buy youself FRS front bumper. Whatever it's your money, it's your car, paint em pink, swap emblem, put spinners lol

Well congrats & enjoy SCION FR-S
