I seem to like the FRS more everyday...

Bought the MT about 1 month ago. I love how it's lightweight and is all around a good sports car. Gawd I hope this market of light weight rwd MT sports coupes gets bigger and with more manufactures. Would love to see a honda rwd COUPE for example. And a nissan (lightweight 240 type car, not a Z). I wonder what's gonna be out there in 10 years?

schmearcampain 01-02-2014 08:29 PM

I love my FRS so much I actually cleaned out my garage to make a space for it. I haven't done that for my prior DD cars (a 335i, an IS350, G35S or my current DD G37S).

The FRS is my secondary car that was meant only to replace my beat up old 2000 Solara, but I love it so much I refuse to park it on the street, or even outside in my driveway. I don't think I've loved my a car so much since my first ('87 Integra... I'm old).

In 10 years every one of Import will be a Go Kart with light weight and a motorcycle engine in it.

Because, it seems people like that.

dave77 01-02-2014 08:35 PM

And rwd! Alright!

Still I'm excited about the new civic typer r, which is supposed to have 270+hp turbo, even if it's fwd.

dave77 01-02-2014 08:36 PM

Haha that's sweet. I wash my car like once a week b/c it's looks so good clean omg.

I'm at a year and 25,000 miles of happy ownership. It's been through so much this past year... I don't regret anything at all with the car. :)

It's filled that void I've had for so long without my 280zt...

I was 99% sure when I bought mine and had doubts for a few months. I had been looking at Genesis Coupe, Mustang GT, Camaro, Charger, Lancer Ralliart, WRX and a couple others. Now when I look at those other cars I am 100% sure that I bought the right one. From the style to the cabin to the performance, it is an unbelievable machine. :burnrubber:

I love it, but I can't fucking stand the chirping. It sounds like a woodpecker is living under my hood now. If I could fix it I'd dance a jig.

BobRickel 01-02-2014 10:17 PM

I bought my FRS as my daily driver a week ago and love it. Drove from Atlanta and got 38 mpg on the highway and am averaging 32 in town. I have not driven my Porsche 928 since, the FRS is just so nimble and light.

Had mine only 2 months but I have absolutely 0 regrets. I like cars for 90% of what they look like, and I still think this is one of the best looking cars on the road. I could have got anything under ~$60k and I chose this. I don't think I'll ever not love the look of my car.

jlugo711 01-03-2014 12:27 AM

I've had it for almost a week and I've never looked back at a car so much when I get out of it. I've also never wanted to just drive around so much either. I actually offer to go places.... whats wrong with me!

PS - I've had my FR-S for over 7 months now and I still go "check it" before I go to bed. When mrs humfrz asks ..... are you checking your precious car? I reply, NOOOO ..... I'm just making sure the garage door is closed ....

brzr 01-03-2014 01:16 AM

I'm also still very much in love with my frs that I got in July.... when I see people driving them and not caring I think to myself something must be wrong with them(or me heh) how can they not care/not like this car....aren't they driving the same car I am....to me this turned out to be my dream car....I don't think I want the 911 any more ;)

Don't give up on your 911 dream. It's a whole other thing!

From a former 911 owner to dreamers all over the world. 1. Total cost of ownership (TCO) sucks! 2. I loved both of them but My FR-S is more fun in a "I'm not going to kill myself" kinda way. Can you tell how I drive now? Hahaha!

Number one might be true, if you don't do your own maintenance. I do, and it costs very little to keep it running. YMMV,

I did do almost everything myself except clutch and transmission work. Cost of parts is pretty high. Even with the tech manual it was very time consuming. Time is money in my world :-) I guess mine was a PITA 996.

What made you opt out of the more HP camaro or stang? I'm a little torn here. I'm waiting on the monogram to release as I really want leather/push to start and like the Toyota dealer near me, but an SS camaro convertible is really appealing too

Because I just love a good Toyota sports car. My '02 Celica was an absolute joy and I saw the FR-S as the return of Toyota "sporty". Those American cars are just too heavy, handle like boats and get bad gas mileage. Another major factor is the sheer number of Mustangs, Chargers and Camaros on the road. I like to be different as well, lol.

DarkSunrise 01-09-2014 03:44 PM

I'd been driving my GTI for a week now because of the cold weather and snow. Today I said screw it and drove my FR-S to work. Made my day. This car is so right.

i'm in love with the challenger, for obviously different reasons than the frs....one day i hope to trade in our second car for a challenger :)

but i also love the frs like i never loved a car before :)......so so in love with my car.....even if the road to getting it was not the happiest :(

Touge_ninja 01-09-2014 03:49 PM

Owned it since august of 2012 and with 20k+ miles on it, all I can say is that I love this car a lot. Now that it's turbo it's like a whole new car again.

Diode Dynamics 01-09-2014 03:52 PM

I wonder what Nissan has learned from the FR-S and BRZ's success.

I wish they would bring the 240sx back...it would be a great competitor for the twins.

As of right now, they don't have anything in the same category IMO

Why not a BRZ Limited? Has both those features and you can test drive it now

Nearest dealer is a good 45m drive, Toyota dealer was a 5m drive.

Ah, well if you haven't test driven the FRS/BRZ, it might be worth a try to show why people pick the 86 over the higher HP cars.

I've actually wanted a Camaro ever since the redesign. In saving up for a big down payment, I discovered the BRZ and immediately changed my mind after a test drive. I've never had so much fun driving up and down mountains, and never felt it needed more power (although that won't stop me from adding more later )

Look on the internet. I got a 13 limited for four grand off msrp. I also drove 45 minutes, but it was worth it.

Bonburner 01-10-2014 07:11 AM
