Kind of want to go widebody.
 

Thinking about one of the widebody kits. If I got one that required fenders to be cut how much would it cost (estimated) to get that professionally installed/cut/ect? Also Any woes to be known before I go widebody? I was thinking about a rocketbunny kit but I was wondering where one would buy the wald kit? Not sure if I'd go about buying it I was just wondering.

Not sure about the costs over there but you're gonna consider paint too, wider wheels or at least so much bigger adapters if you're running anything lower than 10" wide wheels. You could go to the commercial classfields section and then exterior parts, you'll find a few vendors selling rocket bunny kits, it's a lot of work, and put in mind that once you go rocket bunny then there's no turning back to stock unless you have some sort of way of welding the pieces of the fenders that were cut back to the body and pulling it off properly which is a bit hard. good luck.

just keep in mind theres a lot more to it than just the kit. you'll need suspension and proper wheels to go with it, otherwise it will look like utter shit.

prepping is just a matter of cutting the rear quarters, front fenders and a small section of the front bumper if youre going with the rocket bunny kit. its also best to weld the two sections of the rear quarters together and paint over them to prevent rust. that's what we always did with the S chassis'.

drill the mounting holes for the new panels and line them up and mock it up on the body so you know how it's going to fit/line up. then its just a matter of painting and installing all of the pieces. it's a process but it's all pretty self explanatory. the kit will only properly fit one way. just takes time to do it.

as far as negatives, it's expensive. the kit, paint, labor, suspension, wheels and tires will come out to a pretty good amount. the other downside is that the added size and weight of the much larger wheels and tires will definitely change the straight line acceleration.

IMO, wide bodies look good IF you're also planning on upgrading the performance part of your car at the same time. It must be really embarrassing to have a race-car that can't outrun a soccer mom in her Honda Odyssey. So with a wide body kit, add the price of an FI kit of your choice as well, and the labour to install that as well.

If you're asking, you're not ready.

I've read somewhere that it can be up to 5k, the kit alone is quite expensive already. All that tough work is more, plus you gotta get the right wheels, etc. to allow it to look good. It can run pretty high.

You're looking at like $5000+ if you're wanting to go widebody. Kit, fitting, painting, wheels/tires, and suspension. Easily $5000+.

No sense in going wbk with no power lol. A turbo kit makes way more sense before a wbk.

Unless you're doing a trophy winning show car ($10000+ on aesthtics alone), I wouldn't even bother with a wbk. The car looks great as is...

5k would be the kit + labor..

Wheels, suspension, tires bla bla.. yeah.

I know what wheels and sizes I'm running. I have a suspension setup right now but I think I will change my current setup before I go widebody. I was planning on doing FI first but I'm waiting until the warranty is gone so I figured I would get all the cosmetic stuff out of the way in the meantime.

No duh, that's why I'm asking about it. I wouldn't be asking about it if I was ready to do it. Have some common sense man.

I wanted to go widebody and I was in the same path as you, but when you really think of it, you'll have to sacrifice a lot of things including the whole car as being new and not messed with, resale value, the daily drive capability goes a bit down, rock chips everywhere obviously because of the wider wheels and no mud flaps supporting, if you don't like rivets then you'll have to mould it into the body and taking it off later would be a PITA. My suggestion would be, do some more research, think carefully and then go for it if you insist. FI isn't really necessary on a widebody car, most rocket bunnies including the guy who made this kit (miura san from TRA Kyoto or 6666 customs) run n/a setups with CAI and a cat-back mostly.

There is another solution, if you're just into the fenders then I believe some vendors on the forums here sell the front and rear fenders only for around $1000 without shipping and that is $2k less meaning that you won't get the front lip, side skirts and rear diffuser. If you just want the fenders then you got an extra $2k to save down on costs of building the project.

every wide body kit I have seen completely ruins the lines of the car in the rear. you can fit 10 inch tires in the rear stock body which is good for plenty of power, the new Corvettes have 10 inch rear wheels
