You know it's a good forum when....
You know it's a good forum when you take your car to the dealership to get something fixed and they have no clue what's wrong. They check their manuals and their stuff on the computers and still can't figure it out. Then you look from the waiting area and they are looking at ft86 club and voila they figure it out. Thought it was funny so I had to share.

Service manager at my dealer is on here. Don't know his name though but he told me the forum has helped them numerous times
|
Yea that's what the one at my dealership was telling me to. He said most of the time he just jumps straight on nasioc or here rather than going through all of the service manuals.

Same issue with most large companies involving tech stuff and massive dealer networks. What was the issue btw? |
crickets.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53176 A weird circle of "not reading the manual" becoming "dealer reads forum post that says to read the manual to someone else with the same issue". -alex |
That's cool some service professional are tuned in to the forums. It is a great resource.
Not the only resource, mind you. |

Yea I got the window back up but while I have a warranty that covers the whole car I think I'm gonna use it. They ended replacing everything for my windows under warranty. So yes it is covered in the manual but why not use a warranty every chance you get just saying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Test: What would you do if the car doesn't start?

And this is a car specific forum and a fairly mature crowd so information is shared pretty openly. |

That's the problem with the internet age. Everyone things they are everything and know everything yet no one has application experience. |

Sometimes the information in Owner's manuals is incorrect from the manufacturer. I'm not sure if Subaru has this issue, but we've found numerous mistakes in several GM owner's manuals.
The best information comes from people with hands on experience, that's a big part of what makes a forum so useful IMO. Your owner's manual isn't going to tell you a DIY about a cam upgrade lol Nick C. |

My time is better spent fixing small things myself. My time is better spent using warranty work when it is not worth my time to fix the problem. If I used my warranty every chance I had, I would be out of a job. -alex |

Again, fairly, which is why right now there isn't threads on top of threads of endless BS to sift through. I think we can agree to disagree.:w00t: |
I would have to agree that's some serious respect for the knowledge found on this forum.
Congrats to the gnu's within; much Props |

I feel bad now because most of my posts are not contributing to help them. At least they will be entertained by me.

I'm all for having good and accessible information on a forum. But if I saw dealer techs looking at one I would be BS pissed. I've made a career working at indy shops and dealers guys always think they are hot shots, guess what, no one knows everything.
|
I mean a good tech support rep would give a google search a shot after they tried protocol troubleshooting.
I would welcome a dealer searching the forums if they couldnt replicate or solve the issue. OP thanks for posting. |
