Blackworks Racing Turbo Build
Hey everyone! There is a new turbocharged BRZ in town :) I'm sure most of you have heard of BWR and wouldn't really connect them with Subaru but as a company that makes high end turbo manifolds, they wanted to produce a turbo kit for the BRZ and its twins the FRS and GT86. Please keep in mind that I won't be able to answer everyone questions as the build is still continuing. I literally have hundreds of pics to go through still, so I'll be posting a few good ones now and I'll continue to upload more along the way with the info for each one. (Admins I'm in talks with BWR on becoming a vendor. This thread is merely the R&D of their turbo kit on my BRZ and consider it as a one off kit right now cause technically it is)
Here is some quick info on the build and parts(All fabricated parts are done in house from scratch): VMS Vacuum Block TiAL 38/40 Wastegate TurboSmart 50mm Race Port BOV BWR Strut brace with integrated catch can(A one off for my build) Garrett T3/T4E turbo 50 trim BWR 1.5" EL top mount turbo manifold BWR 3" down pipe to a 3" catless exhaust to a 3" straight through Borla XR-1 muffler(another one off for my build) Vibrant intercooler with custom end caps BWR Coilovers BWR Adjustable control arms are in the works "I will continue to add items as the build continues like injectors and so forth..." This pic was taken a little over a month ago and right away BWR started to tear down the BRZ. https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...61008945_n.jpg Here's another angle of the car on the lift. https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...93476030_n.jpg Here's a good picture I got of the EL Turbo manifold. This one in particular is actually the first one they made, they redid the jig and made a second manifold that is currently on the BRZ now. https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...65056516_n.jpg Here's the exhaust Matt fabricated... https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...42388924_n.jpg Pic of the turbo mocked up on the manifold. https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...23303418_n.jpg Nice welds for the Map sensor by Matt the sole fabricator of the build https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...72845572_n.jpg Quick shot of the wastegate and the dump pipe https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...95306449_n.jpg Please bare with me on the updates of this build as I can't always stop by the shop due to my work schedule. I hope you guys will enjoy this build as much as I am :D and I can't wait to get behind the wheel of my BRZ again! Cheers! |
awesome. I would expect the pricing on the manifold to compare to the pricing on the manifolds they make for hondas

So far looking juicy :)

Why a 50 trim turbo? Why not a gtx series or pte? Granted I made good power on a 50 trim years ago on an srt4 I had with a stock motor.

Little rude response but no. On the subi manifold there r 2 flanges not one solid flange so a lot more time goes into prep and welding than a standard honda manifold. Ensuring no stress is added from welding.Nothing at Bwr is half assed every manifold is polished by hand, back purged and then flowed after. I'm sorry you took wat I said the way u did. But this manifold take a lot more time to make than a standard one. |

Not really an update but more of a picture showing the fitment of the intercooler behind the bumper. This shot was taken just before the car was shipped off to LM. https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...92640357_n.jpg

Sorry for the lack of updates people! Spent the morning picking the BRZ up from Local Motors where it had some vinyl work done. The car is back at BWR for the last stages of fabrication!

Alright I've been super slacking on this thread!
I wanted to hold off until the car is dyno tuned but I thought I would give you guys an update. I've been driving the car on a continuously modified street tune by @nelsmar and once we get as much tuning done on the street as possible it's off to the dyno. The kit has been working phenomenally well! The only real headache was programing my HKS EVC 4 boost controller from my 280Z lol But other then that its all boost and tire spinning! :D Here's a few pics of the setup on the car. Also take note of the new strut brace by BWR for our cars. Mine has the built in catch can which will be an option. https://scontent-b-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/...55375399_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...68199140_o.jpghttps://scontent-a-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/...19634476_o.jpg |
