Please don't try to steal my side markers!

I'm really hoping that all the FRS & BRZ owners don't start the vicious cycle of stealing clear side markers from each other's cars.

Last night I parked my car at the Big 5 store in Torrance (PCH/Crenshaw) for 30min, as well as at the South End tennis club in Torrance for 30min. At each location while parking I noticed there was an FRS parked nearby me. Upon leaving both locations I noticed that the FRS' had already left.

When I got home after those two errands, I saw somebody had tried to pry my clear side marker off my car. They broke one of the loops that holds the fender liner clip and scratched up the bumper around the clear corner.

Is it really worth damaging a fellow twin owner's car just so you can steal a set of $40 clear corners??? Seems highly likely the culprit was probably the owner of one of those 2 FRS' that I saw. The side markers are a total pain in the butt to remove anyway. (as the thief found out as they were not successful in removing them... only damaging my fender)

I thought this only happened to civic owners in the 1990's... Karma is a bitch, so please don't start this trend.

***UPDATE*** ***UPDATE***

WTF? It's been exactly two days short of 1 year since someone tried to steal my clear side markers, and this morning I walk out to my garage and notice some f*cker tried to steal them again! (probably from when I was at the market the day before)

The same drivers side clear side marker is protruding out, and the same plastic liner and plastic tab has been ripped open and damaged to try an access the side marker. Just as last time they were NOT able to remove the side marker, but ended up damaging the paint on my bumper yet again!

When will these idiots learn that removing side markers is a pain the butt, and that you won't be able to steal them quickly in a public place. Thanks for causing >$100 worth of damage to steal a $40 part!

KelvinBRZ 12-20-2013 10:47 PM

So this is when it starts to turn from waving at a fellow BRZ/FRS driver to stealing parts...:paddle::fighting0040:

Artie_z 12-20-2013 10:57 PM

Poser, rat crooks!

This goes back to my philosophy about the "Tuner Scene"
There are only a few really classy, honest and legitimate
People/ enthusiast out there. The rest are only in to fads, fast and furious bullshit, neon light loving, part stealing trash. They can afford really upgrades so they resort to petty theft of cosmetic items.
They do not live by the motto " you have to pay to play"
Don't worry when Nissan releases the new 510
Those ***s will jump over to that new fad and do the same to those folks.

.......as you can tell I hate people lol

MeFryRice 12-20-2013 11:20 PM

I agree 10000% with @Artie_z.

whataboutbob 12-20-2013 11:24 PM

Lame. Might have to keep my hood down at the next 86 fest and watch the car if this is going to be the norm.

Danny86 12-20-2013 11:34 PM

That's messed up. We're supposed to be a community. I saw a new white frs pulling out the dealer today and honked my horn and waved at the guy. He just gave a stupid look. :(

That's the reason why I am afraid of putting my tow hook and license plate kit on, I feel like a fellow twin owner might take it off. As fellow twin owners we have to help each other out, hopefully we would be known for helping each other out and not one of those civics or other car community where they steal from each other. Shame on crooks and thieves.

Artie_z 12-20-2013 11:40 PM

That's exactly what I mean,Posers who have no idea about what it is to be a car hobbist/enthusiast. They don't understand the commradery

In the early 90"s it was not, Like this!

I suppose I could be a here rational thing ??? Who knows

Art-

Artie_z 12-20-2013 11:43 PM

Generational thing!

Art-

Danny86 12-20-2013 11:43 PM

This is the problem with the younger generation of today. Having everything handed to them. It was probably some kid with no job whose parents bought him his car so he resorts to stealing to mod his car. I'm pretty young myself but I was raised "old school". I bought myself MY car with MY money. I work hard to pay for my shit. I know the value of a dollar. This bothers me.

Glad to here there are still decent young bloods out there

This sucks. This once happened at a local MR2 meet back then. A fellow MR2er stole rear side markers from another fellow enthusiast. Kinda sad really. People you think to trust stealing from you because they have parts that you have.

Mr.Jay 12-21-2013 02:32 AM

Shitty deal man

Had the same thing happen but for my Toyota emblems.. like really?

Cars dont get to choose their owners. Deff some douches out there.

fatoni 12-21-2013 02:51 AM

definitely not a generational thing. i do think its an age thing though. you want a great car at a cheap price, you are well ahead of the bell curve and you have to realize that the demographic at the other end might not have the same moral/philosophical view points as you.

midnight23 12-21-2013 04:06 AM

I hate about 99% of society because of things like this.

Artie_z 12-21-2013 05:37 PM

Society is lost.... And is trash

Art-

Wes 12-21-2013 08:54 PM

Wow some people are just trash. If they're on the forums, dont know how they can live with doing things like this. Guess we should start zip tieing our side markers down..

Danny86 12-21-2013 09:04 PM

Super glue everything!!

Has to be a teenager, right? You would think that if you can afford to buy a $25,000 car, you could afford your own side markers... (Unless mommy&daddy bought the car for them)

Scoobybrz 12-21-2013 11:31 PM

That's very unfortunate. I remember one of the big honda forums has a lot of thieves browsing the forum, hunting for their prey. So, always be aware of your surroundings if you publicize your modded frs/brz on the forums.

Shawnofthedead 12-22-2013 04:00 AM

Stealing side markers is kind of hilarious I literally want to say hey lame fuck get a job and go buy some for 50$ cheap ass'

Vincenttam 12-22-2013 07:35 AM

Theres a lot of immature people out there. Lots of people messing with my gs reallocate, drawing penises on my car when it's fogged, and random numbers. =/ i worry that stealing the antenna will be the next fad.

Danny86 12-22-2013 06:48 PM

^ Ok so I think we are all in agreement the penis drawings are hilarious. :D

Jk but on a serious note stealing from a frs/brz is like taking from family. Not cool.

As a new owner of a 10 series, this makes me really upset. The minute I drove out of the dealership, I was thinking to myself I hope nobody even attempts to de-badge my car. It's a scary thought to even think about. I work hard to enjoy what I drive. It sucks when kids who have wealthy parents don't understand value and what it takes to work for the things you want. :/

That's going to be hard to do.... Especially with the wire harness under there. They'll probably have to cut it.

Muskokan 12-26-2013 08:10 AM

Ima get yo turbo kit!

Prooks 12-26-2013 11:56 AM

I think the same thing happened to me because now one of my sidemarkers are loose and one of the clips are missing.

Is there a way to buy or make a new clip for these?

actually in the 90s (the entire decade), it still was like this unfortunately. back then people were jacking clear corners and foglights. it got to a point where it was more common seeing hondas with two square "holes" in the front grille where the foglights used to be... especially piaa 959's.

theres still a lot of good people and enthusiasts, but there just seems to be shit ton more idiots and pieces of shits now.

[edit] i just noticed that the original post for this thread was a year ago and then i read OP's "update" :(

retrosmiths 12-18-2014 10:09 PM

Get a dual-channel dashcam.

Choco 12-18-2014 10:45 PM

I knew people would start doing that. One reason I didn't want to get the genuine clear markers. You should get a dashcam. There's even people stealing license plate relocation kits. :/

2much 12-18-2014 11:11 PM

Kind of related. I ran over some huge fucking rolled up carpet on the freeway going about 50 mph... fell off of some idiot's truck. and now my left side marker is about to fall off :[

Damn that's messed up, I hate that some of the 86 owners are because of mommy and daddy, and think they are all high and mighty because of it. Near a local high school, a BRZ owner revved his stock brand new car( that's ok) but then when I started up my car nearby him, he snapped his neck. And then when I passed by to exit the area, he yells "SCION SUCKS". But majority of the "enthusiests" I've seen on the road usually are pretty chill.

lol that guy was a douche. Band wagoner these days. I think of it as foot ball. I love San Diego Chargers like I love my 86. We don't win often but the die hard fan stays till the time runs out

Ultramaroon 12-19-2014 01:15 AM

I bet it doesn't happen in Europe.

KungFuWaffle 12-19-2014 01:21 AM

Not to mention, whenever I park in my apartment complex over night( when the parking is full, I park across the street at the school). Whenever I park overnight in my complex, theres always something intentionally on my car, random trash wrappers, but its majority soda. Either someone is totally jealous or has a grudge against me.

breadcrumbz 12-19-2014 01:36 AM

That really sucks.. I work hard for my car and just the thought of someone damaging or stealing from someone else's car is infuriating. Take it up to the man himself, not his property.
