BEST EXHAUST FOR RUMBLE

im currently looking for the right exhaust to put on my car. i want that deep rumble sound but cant really find anything out there. do you guys have any recommendations??

Nm86 12-16-2013 05:33 PM

J2 quad tip, it's defiantly on the louder side, but has a good rumble. But everybody has their own opinion.

finch1750 12-16-2013 05:40 PM

Try youtube...or at least the engine/exhaust tech forum

N1rve 12-16-2013 06:02 PM

The SRT one sounds pretty nice. It's a header back exhaust.

MAPerformance 12-16-2013 06:05 PM

You will need an UEL header if you are looking for the "Subaru rumble".

Chen 12-16-2013 06:07 PM

Invidia n1 or greddy evo 3 from what ive seen have been pretty loud.

BRZPDX 12-16-2013 06:07 PM

closest to STI type rumble I heard on Youtube was a UEL header/J2 exhaust set up.

IceFyre13th 12-16-2013 06:07 PM

Open headers with chrome lake pipes..........

samisons 12-16-2013 06:13 PM

buddy club spec II

NWFRS 12-16-2013 08:51 PM

Are you thinking about the flat-four rumble that comes from Unequal Length Headers?

I found this here http://www.xeautosport.com/buddy_clu...i-1875964.aspx
IDK where I could find this or if its custom but it look awesome and I wish I could find where to get it. I would also have to get another rear bumper but it would be worth it because I guess that this is a great exhaust but I would have to find out. IDK how it would sound. If u want something to sound good go to youtube or some exhaust makers have there own videos.

Do you want deep or loud with lots of pop?

protpibe 12-17-2013 03:51 PM

This is what mine sounds like

TRD Catback + Borla UEL

Not overly loud, but deep

TOTO_86 12-17-2013 03:57 PM

Anyone know if it is better to run with a high flowing cat, or no cat on a front pipe for power gains?

Cats these days are very good so having one won't diminish performance much, if at all.

Spending $1.5-2 grand plus on an exhaust doesn't make much sense.

I think you can achieve the 'rumble' sound with -> Berk Track Pipe (muffler delete) + UEL header
$140 + $500-750.
Easy, done. Don't waste your money on a TRD exhaust and all that hogwash.

Very true, if you don't care what the rear looks like, and are just going for sound.

Everyone has their own tastes for exhausts. Some people say paying almost $30k for a sub-200whp car doesn't make much sense.

1086 12-17-2013 05:57 PM

@Steve The rear doesn't look too bad with the single exit. Of course, if that $80 piece of plastic that covers the passenger gap were say, not $80 - I'd go for it lol.

@husker741 right...sure, you could easily say that with regard to any car above or below $30k - my point is that the OP was focusing on sound so it doesn't make much sense to spend $1.5k plus, for sound, hence "I want that deep rumble sound". If he is looking for more than just that, different story, different response but not the case.

LBC Por Siempre 12-18-2013 08:48 PM

For sure dude; when I finally do get my exhaust - along with whatever type of forced induction I decide on, I sure in-the-hell don't want that "FART CAN" sound.

I didn't really care about cost too much within reason, I just wanted a deep rumble. Any performance increases I MAY have gained were not a selling point. A muffler delete will increase the volume of the exhaust, but it has a little too much pop for my tastes. A full catback with muffler and a UEL header will give a nice deep rumble without the poppiness of a muffler delete. To some, that's worth the $1,500+. Different strokes for different folks!

troek 12-19-2013 09:54 PM

i hope you didnt suffocate, lol

fx35s 12-19-2013 11:30 PM

It's rather a bit expensive catback, but I like my M7 catback.

Thanks guys for all the responses. Wasn't expecting so many in such a short period of time!

As some have pointed out, rumble is all I'm looking for. I'm quite happy with the way the stock exhaust pipes look.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but my budget was no more than $200 (including labour), what could I possibly do to get a louder rumble?

You're joking right? :bellyroll::bellyroll::bellyroll::bellyroll:
In Australia, $200 including labour will get you NOTHING that will give you a louder rumble.

200 won't get you anything. Even if you found a used header, you'll still be spending about 600 after installation
