License Plate Frames

Girl asked me what I wanted for christmas, so I thought of something cheap, and cool that I would like......... So what license plate frames are you guys using?

Coolest frame is the carbon fiber piece First 86 owners were given. Sometimes they pop up on eBay. Nice little piece of history.

humfrz 12-16-2013 01:48 AM

None on the back ...... basic mounting plate for the front.

I have a custom one that says "GANDALF YOU SHALL NOT PASS"

Cuz I"m awesome. :P

I don't like how license plates look without a frame on it, so I just took mine from my previous car, my Subaru STi.

It'll look better once I do a BRZ swap, haha.

YMAA 12-16-2013 04:07 AM

I got a set of Perrin frames with my intake kit, so I use those. Previously I used Grimmspeed ones that came with the tow hook mount kit.

mrlewistan 12-16-2013 04:12 AM

i just hit autozone and picked up a pair i liked. also got a clear shield so dirt wont get stuck on it as easy. there are some really nice sealed ones but i had already gotten my stuff when i found out about the product. water and dirt dont get in at all. i forgot the brand tho

Shagaliscious 12-16-2013 06:20 AM

I have the Weathertech frame with the clear cover. It's probably more expensive than the average plate frame, but I think it was worth it.

whaap 12-16-2013 06:31 AM

At Auto Zone I got the one that the plate mounts on the outside of the frame so that what you see is just a plain chrome strip all the way around the plate.

I really like the yospeed frames. Just recently picked up a set. He's currently doing a sale if you need 2 frames.

Alls I know is my dealerships frame is getting totally old and lame to look at.

Once the snow and ice melts off the body of my car I want to take the 2 ugly frames off. Massachusetts is a "front plate required" state, figures.

Leaning towards a plate from from the alma mater.

BlaineWasHere 12-18-2013 02:29 PM

none. I don't advertise for free.

cycleboy 12-18-2013 02:44 PM

I got black plastic ones w/ a red&white 86 piston logo.

tobin 12-18-2013 03:10 PM

Weathertech ClearCover on the front and ClearFrame on the rear. I'm very happy with them.

DarkCard 12-18-2013 05:33 PM

Smoked cover.. The yellow needed to be toned down ALOT

Plain black real carbon fiber frame in the back, need to get something other than my crappy dealership frame upfront. Trying to find silver CF, if it looks better on silver ignition I'll buy two and put the black one on the tC.

Looks nice but the new NY plates are ugly -I wish they stuck with the blue & white or bring back the red, white & blue Statue of Liberty. Anything but that yellow (looks very 1970's).

Ever get hassled by the cops for plate covers? I want them too but it's another reason for the cops to stop you.

That looks nice, I think I'll do that for now.

Did you do the back too or just the front?

Just the front. I've had it for a couple months it's holding up just fine. Even washed the car a few times. Although I will probably be purchasing a custom frame in the near future.

Here's mine on the Lexus... I like things clean... I have small coin emblems which i will cover up the bottom holes with...

I will do this with the FRS when I finally get one as well...

As for my other rides... no frames, but I like this and will update the other cars...

Great picture, love the depth of field and use of the rule of thirds

What tail lights are you sporting? They look so good you may have just convinced me to swap mine for whatever those are :D

Also, which smoked cover are you using, does it wrap around the back any? I'd like to find one that does so I don't have to worry about the metal edges of my plate hitting my paint.

Thank you :D

The tail lights are TOM's in red. I love them I've wanted them since the release. They are definitely worth the money

The smoke cover is a generic one from pepboys, it doesn't wrap around but it does bubble in front. Its not one of the flat covers
