Why did you buy the color you did?

If you could buy your car all over in a different color that is offered. What color would you get and why? If you would keep the same color, why?

Another question for those of you that have the Red car. Do you regret it? I mean I like red.. but I've never owned a red car. I've had a Yellow one and got all sorts of attention and everyone LOVED the car. Since then I've had 3 black sports cars and hardly get any heads turned (Ironically this car in black turns more heads than my Porsche my friends always called my Porsche a Miata... lol )

Reason I'm asking is first off this car is bad luck and I don't even believe in luck lol... So I'm seriously considering trading my car in on a 2014 once the 2015's come out and getting the new premium version with leather ect and I have decided if I do that I will not be getting Raven again

DarkSunrise 12-11-2013 09:30 AM

White. Highest looks-to-maintenance ratio. :)

whaap 12-11-2013 09:33 AM

Because they didn't make the color I wanted and of the colors they offered it was the one I liked best.

jblmr2 12-11-2013 09:37 AM

Hot Lava, because I wanted a color that shouts rather than whispers.

LOL yeah my car looks dirty too. Back to silver I guess.

Killerbee 12-11-2013 09:44 AM

I would stay with white. I had 2x Red, 3xBlack, 3xWhite, 1x Light Blue on my cars before. When I ordered my GT86 I was not sure if to take the dark blue, red or white, since the car looked very well in all colors.

-Black was out of the question for me, since the 3 cars before the GT86 where black, and it just shows every little scrap, dirt or really anything on the car. It also "hides" the lines of the car, and since I love every line of the GT86 I did not want a color that hides it.

-Dark Blue was out because of the same issues as with black

-Red...well, still like red very much, and it is still my 2nd favorit. Nothing to say against it to be honest.

-White just shows the line of a car so well, and goes also very well with another color as contrast. Specially the black "plastic" parts of the car work well with a white car, as they give a good contrast and show of the shape of the car even better.

One point however, I'm happy Toyota does not offer the WRB from the BRZ, that would maybe gotten me to change my mind about white.

In the end its whatever you personally like the most. There is no "bad" color for the twins, they look awesome in every color offered

Soulman03 12-11-2013 09:48 AM

I bought red, and would do so again. This is my third car and all of them have been red so far. Red is beautiful when it's clean, more so than any other color in my opinion.

RojerLockless 12-11-2013 10:08 AM

Anyone like the Graphite? I'm leaning towards graphite or red if I rebuy.

Demandred7 12-11-2013 10:15 AM

I bought Firestorm (aka red) although it was not my first choice in colours. My original top colours were Asphalt, Hot Lava, and Ultramarine. A few things swayed my decision.
Firestorm looks better in person than most pictures.
The seat accents actually match the car.
Firestorm attracts more attention than Asphalt and Ultramarine.
And last but not least, after going for the test drive in my Firestorm, I honestly didn't want to wait for any other colour (at the time, it was estimated to be at least 3 months to get any other colour).

All in all, I am happy with my decision.

Luis_GT 12-11-2013 10:18 AM

Because special edition and baby blue hue

fatherfork 12-11-2013 10:26 AM

After having a dark blue car for the last 6 years, I got a white 86 because it's very much cooler inside during the summer. Also it looks great.

mx5 2nr 12-11-2013 10:39 AM

I got Raven, and when I was looking, I decided that I'd get either Raven, Whiteout, or Graphite - whichever arrived soonest at the dealer. I've had 5 previous black cars, 2 red, 5 white, 1 green, and 2 silver. I'm kinda glad I ended up with a black car, as I'm trying to keep a garage with all colors in unison...

86-tundra 12-11-2013 11:08 AM

Asphalt looks the best in person, IMO. I have a black FJ that's relatively blacked out - no need to get a second black car. Was going to go with white, but the asphalt just totally caught me off guard. paint looks amazing.

.. I may be slightly influenced by the dark gray rx8 I had years ago ..

drewbot 12-11-2013 11:30 AM

Whiteout because that pearl finish looks great when it changes at different angles.

Also holds its own in nasty salty winters.

My favourite colour is red, however, I wanted a slightly darker red. Less hot wheels colour.

humfrz 12-11-2013 12:16 PM

White ....... because mrs humfrz wanted it that way .....;)

humfrz

Kwisak 12-11-2013 12:34 PM

Would have loved a British racing green, but thats not going to happen to went with blue from there I had to choose between GBS and WRB, since my WRX is WRB went GBS. Kinda happy that it was only a first year color now.

RRBS 12-11-2013 12:59 PM

Raven. Because it was the only MT they had. They had two sitting there, raven MT with the premium radio, tint, lip spoiler, or a graphite with all option, but auto.

If I had it all to do over again, it would be red, or white. My dd is red, and I love it. My genesis coupe I had prior to the FRS was white, and I loved that too (until a drunk driver smashed it at 3am while it was parked, RIP)

Anyway...the raven is nice, but I hate black cars. They're too hard to keep clean (i'd rather wash a white car every day than a black one, they're more forgiving in my mind)

suaveflooder 12-11-2013 01:06 PM

White. Always wanted a white car. They look clean and classy

BlueDubbinTDI 12-11-2013 01:10 PM

Asphalt. Because white is overkilled.

mav1178 12-11-2013 01:15 PM

I got white because I like white.

White. Because until the 2014s rolled out, Subaru Canada only gave us 4 choices: WRB, Black, Silver, and SWP.

I just got rid of a black Celi - scratches and nicks show up too clearly in a white car.
Didn't want WRB because for awhile, it seemed like every single sporty Subie was WRB up in Toronto.
I liked the silver - easy maintenance, and it looked pretty good - but I had my mind set on gold/bronze wheels, and felt white looked better with them.

So here we are.

And yes: White is filthy in the winter (especially the back, where the trunk kinda carves inwards)

the new guy 12-11-2013 01:32 PM

Originally wanted a Raven but the dealer added like 2k to the price and the Asphalt on the lot just looked too good. Plus it had the options I was looking for

hmong337 12-11-2013 01:34 PM

The colour selection simply isn't that great if you ask me. I wish there was a turquiose, light blue, or aqua blue colour. I would definitely have gone with a lighter blue if I had the choice.

There were three top colours when I got the FRS. Whiteout, Ultramarine, and Firestorm. But overall, I really wanted Ultramarine over the other two. Sometimes, I regret not getting whiteout. But I'm still very satisfied with the blue.

I chose Ultamarine because I've never owned a blue car before. Plus, after looking through all the color compliations on this forum, the Ultramarine is the colour that struck me most. White was a very close second but the reason why I didn't go with whiteout is because I already have a white MR2 :) it'd be boring to have two white cars. I didn't go with red because I've owned many red cars in the past. As well, red cries out "look at me!" too much and I wanted something a bit more low key. I love the firestorm, maybe if I was 21 years-old. But it's a bit too much attention for me.

So, the blue hit all the right buttons for me... I do wish sometimes I got whiteout though :( I still love the blue though and have gotten many compliments on the colour. Especially from the guys at the dealer when I bought the car. And for whatever reason, it's more rare than the other colours. After selling these cars for one year, I was the only Ultramarine blue to go through the dealership I bought at!

Ghost 86 12-11-2013 01:37 PM

White because I'm a nerd and I grew up with initial d well for the past 15 years anyway

From what I was told, the ultramarine is more rare because it's the same color of the Subaru so the color allocation is less (what my dealer said)

NWFRS 12-11-2013 02:07 PM

I love black cars.
And they always look dirty.
So I bought Asphault.
These cars look good in every color.
:-)

PStaff716 12-11-2013 02:27 PM

bought black because it was the only one they had in MT.

I regret not getting whiteout. Yes, a Raven FRS looks mean in a way that the other colors never can achieve (imo), but it is just so hard to keep clean. Like, pain in the ass, make you rethink why they even sell cars in that color hard.

but when she's clean, ohhh boy. so mean

+1, although I didn't get to choose color on my 10 Series but am enjoying the uniqueness and am a fan of all the pearl colors.

White, and the lighter colors in general, seem to show all of the interesting body contours and details a little better. I also like that it's the traditional JDM race car color and would add red wheel center caps to complete the theme.

Dadhawk 12-11-2013 02:39 PM

Firestorm because...race car.

I've always preferred Red or British Racing Green for sports cars. Only exception would be Yellow or Chevy's "red-orange" (think "orange" '69 Camaro) I might have chosen one of those. This is the only car I've liked Yellow on except for the Transformer Camaro.

I almost switched from Red to Hot Lava during the First86 until I found out that Red was actually sizing up to be one of the rare colors (I figured everybody would be getting Red). Also Olivia 1 (my '85 MR2) was red so it sort of a tradition with me.

The nice thing about Red is it doesn't get dirty, it just gets dull. Then when you wash it BAM! The bad thing about red is it shows every chip as a bright white spot.

I do wish the red had a pearl coat on it, but I like the flat red as well.

N_A 12-11-2013 02:40 PM

I had black MR2, green Miata, silver S2000, and a red Mini Cooper. A black car looks best when it's clean. I originally wanted Ultramarine (best color for the FRS IMO) but the dealer did not have one at the time. Black is just classy and low profile.

PITA to keep clean but I love it.

Eurasianman 12-11-2013 02:59 PM

I originally wanted SWP, but the next BRZ that was coming in, and was accidentally ordered as a manual (win for me), was DGM, so I jumped on it. No regrets. I have had a green truck, blacked out car, and red. I always wanted a gun metal/dark grey car. DGM was it for me :)

tdoggy57 12-11-2013 03:31 PM

I went with asphalt and id probably do it again. Shows off some of the lines well, masculine, matches stock wheels, sleek. White looks nice but its way too common. Black is too hard to keep clean. I had about 3 weeks worth of pics on here to decide from, and I chose asphalt and my dealer ended up having the exact car I wanted.

Only thing I wish sometimes is that I got a WRB BRZ. My last car was a EBP Prelude, love the color.

N1rve 12-11-2013 03:39 PM

I wanted white but the 10 series only came in Silver IIgnition. The dealer marked off 1500 from the 10 series, so it was cheaper than a BRZ Limited.

I couldn't justify paying more for the pearl white either.

FReSh 12-11-2013 03:40 PM

I had to go with the black. It just looks so sharp... Its a pain to clean, but I don't mind. My second choice was the dark blue because it also looks pretty nice.

Sacs 12-11-2013 03:45 PM

Hot Lava - the other colours didn't scream 'Mid-life crisis' loud enough.

mackdaddytran 12-11-2013 06:57 PM

Asphalt. The listing said it was Raven. Went to go look at it, 86 was not Raven.

Ended up liking the color so I bought it.

TL;DR: Thought the car was black, it wasn't but i bought it anyways.

Ashybone 12-11-2013 07:23 PM

I got raven for multiple reason...

1. I'm going for a theme with my cars. Basing them off the four horsemen.
-----1st Horsemen Conquest White Horse (Mitsubishi Starquest... Just so happens to be a conquest lol)
-----2nd Horsemen War Red Horse (3000GT VR4)
-----3rd Horsemen Famine NOT PESTILENCE Black Horse (Insert FR-S)
-----4th Horsemen, said to be the most powerful, Death Pale Horse *pale as in grey* Supra (going to buy it when done paying off FR-S )

2. The name of this black is Raven. My favoite poem by Edgar Allan Poe.

3. Black is fucking sexy.

4. I test drove the black car and it was all they had on the lot. Drove home with it the next day :D

Now I heard black cars were hard to keep clean, seriously that's a fuckin understatement. MY GOD!!!!! I tried the first two months I had the car. Then I just realized It was too expensive to keep this car clean lol.
