Look! It's a Scio---Lexus?
|
What's wrong? I think it actually looks okay... :iono:
|
That hood scoop looks badass... is it functional or is it like the hood scoop on my '05 4Runner Sport :)

Hood is badass, badge looks fine but the car has no lexus flair. Maybe the guy has an all leather interior and doubled the firewalls ;) haha

maybe if it was white with some black accents. Doesn't matter to me but I thin kit looks good.

I find the doors being open while this pic was taken way more offensive. Well, that and the all black wheel treatment - just not my taste. The Lexus badge is not that big of a deal to me - at least it's not badged outside of the "family".
|
I agree. Feeling the need to add a Lexus badge to it makes it seem that you are too good to drive a Toyota or Subaru lol. If Toyotas and Subaru's are below you then why drive one lol?
|
Totally thought about rebadging to Lexus (especially the gold ones) to mine for the exact reaction above. Kudos to the owner although I would never do the other stuff he's done.
Edit: I think I posted about doing it a couple months back but am too lazy to dig it up, didn't get much of a reaction then. |

Wait what lol?? |
Waiting for red Honda type-R badges to start showing up; that's when you know the aftermarket has really matured.

Not judging, but can I ask your impetus for doing this? What made you want to re-badge to a Lexus? Was it purely based on probable reaction or ?? |

LOL I once saw a Toyota Tercel with a GTR, SPEC-V, and Mugen badge all together. |

I guess, but why troll with such a great car like ours? I just don't get it. To each his own though I guess. |
I am not even hating on Lexus I really like them. But the FRS is built for the masses and is built for the excitement of driving it. It is a drivers car and should not have the unneeded expense and weight of more frills. I just feel that putting a Lexus badge on it is kind of a slap in the face to the people who put in the work to build it for the average Joe. It is bringing back the famous Japanese cars of the late 80's and 90's before they got crazy and only the rich could buy them. I am and always will be a huge fan of the Supra, RX7 and 300Z. But I was just to young to get one before they got crazy and you needed to be rich to have one. So to me the FRS/BRZ is a dream come true and we should all respect Toyota and Subaru for making that dream come true.
Even if they did make us wait a bit to long ;) Thanks |
Bet he wears a flatbill and has a neckbeard. When people laugh and point at his car, it's not because they are impressed by his "Lexus".
|
I'm not a big fan of the all black color scheme, but I do love me some Lexus badges on Scions. I'd totally put one on mine.
|
I like the hood. I think the Lexus badge is simply for attention and nothing else. Still waiting for someone to make a vinyl cover the the subaru emblems.

I had more of a tirade but decided it was a waste of time, a great car like ours shouldn't care what badge is on the front, as long as it's been maintained well and not destroyed to look 'cool' or go fast I'll appreciate it (OP's is dangerously close to crossing that line in my opinion, hoods and wheels and lights can be replaced though). |
As for rebading for the brand image, I can kinda understand. Lexus does seem a bit of a stretch to me though. Nothing about this car really says "Oi oi, I'm a Lexus". Unless of course, they went with this body kit...
http://www.scionlife.com/wp-content/...it-White-3.jpg http://www.gtspirit.com/wp-content/g...-gallery_2.jpg On a more serious note, I'm currently working on a JDM conversion project. I'm gonna try to get it as close to spec as possible short of a right-hand drive conversion. This is mostly due to my respect of the brand. Sure, they had maybe a decade or so of the most boring cars you could imagine, but I think the average joe should realize that they can still produce a true sports car. From a brief survey with my friends, only about 1 in 5 knew that Scion was owned by Toyota  |
This is like a VW owner putting an Audi badge on their car. No, it doesn't work like that.

Yup, it's definitely a large stretch if we go by pricing. At least it's not something totally off the wall like a gtr badge...
|
It rly doesent look that bad..
|
When you start paying his bills then you can talk about what he puts on his car....till then worry about your own. Looks decent overall.
|
Our cars are meant to be a blank canvas that you can do whatever you want too it. So let people do them.. And you do you..
|
I think it looks pretty good. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but I park on the street so maybe the Lexus badge isn't the best idea.
(I have Cadillac badges on my GMC and Ducati body work on my Suzuki :bonk: ) |
wow SMH
|
This is actually comparatively okay. There's a local BRZ I saw one time that has an Aston badge on it. I'm not sure what the hell the owner was thinking.
|
I understand the stigma associated with scion, but a lexus badge lol? Why not throw in ferrari. Its understandable to throw on subaru or Toyota, they sell cars of the same price range.
But wasnt the whole point Toyota made lexus was to differentiate its luxury brand. I saw a guy driving a prius with a lexus badge once lol hilarious. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk |

It does look nice, except for the poser badge. |
That hood scoop actually looks pretty awesome.
It's too bad if a turbo version was produced it'd likely be a FMIC rather than a top mount due to the lowness of the hood. |
