Is anyone participating in the Beta Event this weekend?

No I won't be playing the beta, but I might get the game when it comes out.

The Mesmer class looks interesting, but like I've said in the other thread the game has some cool features, but it's ending up looking like every other MMO.

Kill 10 rats, repeat... Escort quest, repeat...

But the combat looks a little more action-y and I like the "combos" you can do like throw up a fire wall and have people shoot arrows, that in turn, turn into fire arrows.

So I'll give it chance, I just think I'm getting too old for MMOs in general and I've become too casual...

We'll see. :)

holy crapp beta is amazing, anyone else playing right now?

Is it an open beta? I'm not playing, but all 3 of my sons did at one point. They might be interested if they aren't aware.

I was wrong. I watched another video, and although you can grind, you're always participating in some sort of world quest. Kinda like Warhammer, or Rift.

Hrmmm.

If I'm bored enough this weekend I might pre-order and try out the beta...

Meh. I'll wait for the game reviews, try out the latest build of PCars this weekend. Although I love the idea of not paying a monthly fee just to play (WoW, I'm looking at you!).

Good if you guys don't decide to play there's less stress on the server for me. ;p

I played GW so I'll be playing GW2. Pre-purchased my CE loonngg ago. :)

I got lucky, lol. I pre-ordered mines the last minute and got invited to beta.

I've got to say, this is one of the best game ever.

Because it has no monthly subscription. It was one of the first successful MMO/PvP that came out after WoW that a person didn't have to pay monthly. I know I put plenty of hours into it and thats how I gained weight; too much PvPing. I'm hesitant to pick this game up because it would interfere with my current lifestyle.

Boy was WoW addicting, thank god I stop playing that.. lol

I think GW2 is different in a way that it doesn't force you to play. Like when I play WoW, I feel like since I'm paying monthly for this, I feel obligated just to log on and screw around and not even actually play

But with no monthly payment I feel like I don't need to do that. I play when I really want to play.

+ it's not only the monthly payment, the details and subtleties that this game offers in comparison to WoW is ridiculous...

So, I just pre-purchased, and got to play the stress test today. I rolled a warrior and will be rolling that during launch (25th this month for those of you who pre-purchase get a 3 day head start) Game is very fun, and pvp is better than Aion.

PvP in Aion was terrible. =) 3rd - 50th sorc at NA release, I had to wait 3 or 4 weeks for enough people to catch up for even ground pvp, but flying around the abyss ae slaughtering asmo got old fast.

Forgot beta was available. but I pre-ordered and will just play that when it cames out. Had not played GW in over a year or more so I re-installed it and found my old account still active haha.

Controls sure are clunky. I hope they fixed that in GW2 with better skill switching.

I haven't played the original GW at all, but I don't find the controls in GW2 clunky.

I played the crap out of GW1, and played the crap out of GW2 betas. I'm having a blast as a warrior and can't wait for the 25th!

What is this tournament you speak of? Is it for PvP? May I get some info??

There's always a midyear tournament. Prize pool ranges from 10k-50k. Then an annual one. 20k-100k. Rumored to be a 1mil grand prize, but just a rumor. :)

Damn I want to pick this game up but my career gives me no time to grind it out to be the best. And I want to be the best I can be. Fuhhhh why couldn't this game be released when I was still in high school or college.

I played around with the game for a couple hours last night. Trying to get everyone in our group coordinated and on the same server. By 2AM EST most of the American servers were showing full already so some of us could not join the same servers as the guys that got started at midnight. Now if I understand it right we will have to pay to transfer existing characters to get everyone together. Typical first night logistics pitfalls.

The game is actually pretty casual. lol

Well don't you have to grind it out a little to get the best gear/skills. I don't think I have time for that. This game ain't no Call of Duty.

So far its really casual. Unlike some of the other MMOs I've played, this one rarely feels like you are grinding at all.

Yeah this was the hard part, and trying to get my co-workers/friends to all get on the same server was a pain in the ass. Did some WvW tonight and it was fun, but we got zerged/outplayed by 'the red team', and someone said our server was going to be king of the bads, lol looks like I rolled the correct server.

But, it is casual, I don't know how we gonna organize the server, and all this E-sport talk has me thinking too...

Damn I remember playing GW in high school. Is the level cap still going to be 20? I thought that was awesome as fuck.

Lvl cap is 80 but most of the time you're just on cruise control in PvE. WvW is actually really fun. Lmfao just go with a small group of friends and avoid the massive zergs!

I've been playing, but I don't know my server. I just picked whatever one that wasn't full at the time.

The game runs and looks awesome, and I haven't had any sorts of "launch" issues yet.

At first I got a Tree (I forget the name of the race) Mesmer to 14 and wasn't really feeling it. I usually pick thieves or assassins so I picked a Human Thief and I'm loving it right now. The Human starting area makes much more sense to me and the main city is absolutely amazing.

The art design and graphics are great. The music is so far solid...but I don't think Jeremy Soule is really showing off his versatility; a lot of it sounds like Morrowind and makes me think of that while I'm playing.

The leveling is interesting. Grinding doesn't get you anywhere, but events and exploration do. I like the level match thing for areas; it lets you explore and participate in other starting area quests even if you're a high level.

And it doesn't really seem like you're grinding. It only does when you're a bit down on your level for the main quest and need to get up to it.
