Mileage on a tank
2013 frs bone stock bumper to bumper I'm getting 300 miles a tank. I drove 6th miles daily round trip for work with 50 percent interstate at cruising speeds of 80mpg and 50 percent at speeds of up to 50th with stoplights. I see people posting of 400 miles a tank is this all interstate driving at 65mpg or am I crazy for thinking there's really no way of getting those numbers since I don't necessarily drive real hard as it is. Don't get me wrong I do get in it at times but I'd never judge my mpg off of that. I always r u need super premium in my tank. Just wanted some feedback on this topic.

Shorts trips will kill it unless you're in 100% grandma mode. The AVG mpg on the dash meter is a lie(overestimates by 1-2mpg). The others with super mileage live in different altitudes.
I've personally gotten 30-32mpg as indicated by the incorrect meter on the dash on one of my highway trips averaging 70-90mph with A/C on(yes, everyone was going 90). Most of my driving is city though, so I average around 23-24mpg with half grandma/half spirited driving. |
My dash want tell me an average mpg I follow my trip settings when I fill up. I would say I get mid twenty and I drive the sane way as u it sounds. I can't keep the grandma driving up for a full tank I've tried. I won't complain about it since I had a rx8 getting like 15mpg lol.

How many gallons are you filling up? Car's light comes on with 3 gallons left in the tank, how dangerously you want to live is up to you.
All freeway driving ~30 mpg * 13 gallons = 390 miles, some report 35 mpg (probably doing 65 on flat freeways) which would be 450 miles. Most cars are designed to do 300 miles easily on a tank, my truck was that way, my mothers sedan's were that way etc. etc. What you're seeing is average. |
I drove from southern Alabama to Atlanta and back yesterday. I filled up at 398 miles with 11.553 gallons. That is over 34 mpg on a manual trans. Speed limits ranged fro 55-70 on mostly divided highway and interstate with a healthy bit of in city driving. I tried to keep no more than 5 mph over the speed limit and gingerly accelerated when starting from stop. It sucked and I will probably never do it again. I was just curious to see how well I could do. I really wanted 400+, but I was on my low fuel light already with about 20 miles to my next known exit with fuel.

Thanks for the info. It confirmed my suspicion. I do a good bit of city driving in Pensacola to and from work and I would say gill up always over 2 gallons left. I didn't realize I had 3 gallons left when light comes on so I would be pushing about 350 if I did live more dangerously on fill ups

My best mpg was 31.2, my worst was 16.5 iirc
All calculated with fuelly |
never believe the sticker mileage. Holy cow that test is rigged so many ways.
|
On trips I average 375 miles per tank. On dd numbers I drops to 350 miles per tank average
|
I can get about 330-340 a tank. I do about 80% highway at 75+ mph and 20% city.
|
I'm getting roughly 320 out of a tank, with mostly freeway driving
|
Mind you I only use 93 non ethanol gas
|
I am averaging around 450-500km. With anywhere from 7 to 4 liters left in the tank.
|
I get a lot worst MPG than most everyone because most of my trips are short and in the city. My best two fill-ups I was at about 30mpg averaging about 75-80mph (100% hwy). I can probably get 33-35mpg if I dropped down to 60-65mph. I think it is partly due to the cheap 91 octane Costco gas I use a lot. I don't think I drive too spirited but I guess I do... life is too short to baby this car. Pretty much all of my miles in FRS is captured in Fuelly below.

Manual, grippy tires, no significant mods, 33mpg or so average calculated at fills, mostly highway or rural miles
|
I do 80-20 highway-city; I shift around 2k rpm when the indicator lights up, and I top out at 90-95 km/h (55-60 mp/h) on my 45km (28 mi) drive to work. I fill up once a week for ~40-42 litres (10.5-11 gal) after ~600km (372 mi).
I have fun by not having to slow down in places where others do. |
just the other day i did a 100 mile round trip and averaged 25.5mpg. i am on 91 as well if that makes a difference. i don't really do any spirited driving since this is my first manual and i just don't drive crazy in the first place. traffic was moving pretty quick around 80-85mph because i was going up to the desert.
i average 24.5-25mpg in city driving. idk ? |
375-400, and I end up filling 11.5-12 gallons. I'm usually in 6th gear by 35 mph or so. Plenty of freeway driving, generally go 65-70. Run 93 octane. My gear shifting is very awkward though, it's generally 1->2->6. I use the intermediate gears if I'm slowing down, going up a hill and/or the gas won't do anything, or I'm quickly picking up speed. I use the brakes as little as possible, car actually loses speed fairly quickly when coasting. It actually loses speed faster with the cooper RS3-As that I put on it.
|
I noticed that this car's check gas light turns on at about 10L (2.6 gallons) left in tank.
Usually get about 32MPG with stock rims and tires, winter getting about 30MPG with snows, and summer with 18" 225F/255R like 23-25MPG lol. 70%hwy Have to pay to play. |

With the colder weather, i'm getting 30-70km less per tank than in the warmer months. With average throttle: Full auto (No sport) - 600-640km (375 miles) Full auto (Sport) - 550-575km (343-360 miles) Manual mode - Varies on how hard i wanna go :happyanim: |
I Drive Grandma style 99% of the time, 99% Freeway 5 days a week, 80 miles a day to work. Flat most of the way and I always set my cruise control to 65 mph and just cruise to music. On the dash computer it tells me I am averaging about 40-42 mpg and I drive about 420 miles between fill ups and still fill up with about 11-12 gallons. Again, this is with 65 mph, pretty much all flat driving and 99% freeway only work to home and so forth, no A/C and normal driving mode only.

Drove 10 miles to lunch. Filled up with approx. 10.6 gallons. -alex |
My mileage goes down to 27mpg average in the winter. ...
|
I avg. 400 miles per tank. I have gotten 500 on a road trip. I calculated 38.6mpg.
|
what the hell? I live in LA, so city. I get around 150-180 miles per tank.

Also, welcome and come say hi in the Southeast Section! |
I average about 330 or so, which is a mix of 70-80mph long highway drives and hard launches onto the freeway. I hardly ever get down to the gas light, idk it just makes me nervous. With the amount of highway driving I do I could probably get over 35 which would put me at around 360 miles a tank.
