Nuclear polution on FT86.
Today somebody mentioned that I should sit my BRZ in garage for several months to let the radiation go away. Is there any scientific evidence to it? I know that there was some nuclear leakage in Japan, but that was near the coast. Subaru's factory seems to be located near some mountain near Tokyo. Should we be concerned about it? If we let it sit, how long is sufficient?

Now I understand why my balls have been growing.....

LOL. Dont sweat it. If your really worried get a Geiger counter.
If this was an issue it would have been on the news, and all over the place. |

Is that why my car still starts with no battery in it?
|
you guys can continue, I shall send this link to him ...
|
it's true. also, it'd be best if you sit inside your BRZ in the garage so it protects you from the radiation pollution for those months. you're breathing it all in right now inside your house and whenever you go outside.

Your avatar is very delicious. I have not heard of that, but I am interested in hearing more about it if there is proof. |
This is ridiculous. Don't feed the trolls.

There's always money in the banana stand. |
You get zapped a little every time you make a call on your cell phone, send a text or go online via wifi.
So what if your 86 slaps you with a lil extra... it's worth it. If you start glowing a neon greenish hue, it might be time to put down that 10" quad-core retina display nuke and take a walk. :burnrubber: |
You should take it to the dealership you bought it from and get them to check for radiation. If it is contaminated I would ask for a refund. Please keep us posted.
|
Do what I do, just wear a lead suit when you drive the car.
Here is a pic of me on my bike: http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...XuCLElwggsf45A |
Still better than my moms Mazda 3,
She had a spider nest in the dash somewhere that broke when she hit a curb, hundreds of baby spiders starting coming out of everywhere lmao |
Just go out and buy one of those ionizing necklaces or bracelets. They'll 100% protect you from Japanese radiation (the worst kind!).
How do I know? I'm a nuclear (pronounced nuke-you-ler) doctor  |
My car came with iodine tablets. They were in the first aid kit, but the manual specifically states that cancer of the operator is not covered by the warranty.
Cesium is your big worry, so park that sucker until 2043. Stay far away from bananas as well. |

Tell them to go eat a banana and shut the fuck up...

This has got to stop. The radiation is seeping into my home computer via this thread. Something must be d.................
|
Hah! I'm still worried about Hiroshima and Nagasaki fallout while you guys have move on to Fukushima.
My suggestion...Google Fukuoku. Your women will thank you. |
Your body is more radioactive than your car. Google Potassium 40 (K40).
As it happens, I'm a dweeb with a geiger counter. In late March 2011, I could see the increase in background radiation here in New Hampshire from radio iodine blown into the sky in Fukushima. The increase was on the order of natural background, nothing to panic over, but still mighty impressive. Our cars are clean. |

Only if that means that Bethesda will put the FT-86 in the next Fallout Game.

Radiation may your BRZ into this:

I was living in Tokyo and Saitama when the earthquake and Tsunami occurred. I lived there for about 2 years after the incident before i decided to come home. it was funny because all the foreign governments really urged their citizens to return home because of the radiation and a lot of my foreign friends left Japan immediately. I know it was a problem but nothing really happened to us people living there. Asides from the superpowers I have nothing to complain about.

In the end, we didn't go - but one of the things I noted was that you're getting more background radiation while flying in the airliner, or visiting NYC, than was being measured on the ground in Tokyo. Of course, you gotta factor in things like ground water, food etc., but it just made me feel the whole radiation angle was overblown. |
It was over blown. I feel really safe in Tokyo. No buildings collapsed from the earthquake. Most damage was caused by the tusnami. Japan's response to disaster's is amazing. Some families are still rcovering but most people have already relocated and picked up their lives.
|
I think of all the problems you should be concerned with on the FRS/BRZ, any background radiation is the LEAST of your concerns.
Stick to the discussions about TSB and recalls and how shitty the car is, ignore the radiation talk and ignore these dumb, baseless claims from your peers. -alex |
...do not feed the troll?

I think this has been my favorite thread thus far!

So am I gonna grow another arm or what??? :bonk:

Some of us have 3rd legs :bellyroll:
|
The fear spun by the anti-nuclear movement is insane. More people died from explosions at an oil facility a few kilometers up the coast after the tsunami than from the nuclear incident. As another user has mentioned in this thread, you receive more radiation from flying in an airplane than you do standing next to the fukushima nuclear plant.
If you want the straight goods on the dangers of Nuclear, watch the documentary "Pandora's Promise". But a third leg would be nice... |
...errr. Fukashima is like eons away from tokyo and even more further away from where our cars are build. (or maybe not but the mountains block it. :X)
|
Nucular... It's pronounced Nucular.

This thread gave me cancer.
